Danger, action, love, and shifters in wild Nairobi!
This series has really hit its stride in this second book! I love it. I would classify this series as a romantic fantasy action adventure that is suitable for teens. I would also call it a paranormal romance series. The world-building is excellent; the only reason it is not really an urban fantasy is that each book in the series has a different pair of main characters who usually appear as minor characters in the other books. I love the heroine Grace, and the supporting characters are funny and fascinating. I recommend reading “King’s Pride” (Book #1) first.
I found this to be a highly entertaining page turner. It is an unlikely second chance romance that also features a long lost sister, bullets flying, a giant crocodile in the yard, and a supernatural poacher on the loose! It is exciting like the best action-packed urban fantasies. It is set in an alternate version of Nairobi, Kenya, that is very similar to ours except that paranormal people exist, but most humans are not aware of them. This world is populated by shifters, witches, African-style vampires, and even gods from African folklore! There are also several species of shape-shifting “demons” that have nothing to do with the Christian Hell and are no more evil than humans, although they are shunned by the rest of the Paranorm community.
The heroine, Grace, is the most powerful type of demon, a Popobawa. Most of the time, Grace looks like a lovely young woman with coffee-colored skin. Whenever she likes, she can turn into a huge flying bat person. Her ex-boyfriend Jed, a lion shifter, suddenly shows up because he happens to be the brother of her cousin Emma’s husband. Jed is okay but slightly annoying at first.
While the clean romance is great, the action, fantasy, and plot are all top notch. I highly recommend this series to anyone who likes urban fantasies or paranormal romance.

Wow! This series keeps getting better and better. The mystery, intrigue and romance will keep you glued to the book, but it’s the real life issues, such as forgiveness and self worth, that make you realize that this is not a normal paranormal/shifter book. Most books like these don’t have the depth this book has. One could relate to how Grace felt about herself due to what people thought of her and how she felt about her mom. We also could relate to how Jedediah felt about himself because of what happened to his sister. Oh my goodness! To see how Naomi started to blossom was beautiful. Grace knew Naomi needed love, time, a gentle hand and a safe place to recover. Don’t we all need that when we have been broken?
I’m loving this series, and I’m loving the lion shifter and all the wacky otherworldly friends who keep popping up on the estate.
Falling in love with a series is some times hard to when you start out and things seem slow. Not in this book, not at all. Was exciting from the first page to the last. With an underlying love story brewing to a huge mystery. A animal tamer, a poacher, lost love one; what more can you ask for in a good story? The supernatural world is also mixed in with some myths and mysteries. So much in a story it is one I highly recommend for those that love all those things.
A Demon’s Love – Grace’s Story
As a fan of both the Society for Paranormals series and the Cozy Tea Shoppe Mystery series, I met Grace Elkhart as she greeted the world, which was also during a scary paranormal siege. She was a cute and precocious baby demon. However, now as a mature adult, Grace is a contradiction. In her human form she is sassy-sweet and a bit insecure. In her Powobawa Demon form, she is a powerful predator, but not a monster.
A Demon’s Wing by Ella Wilde is Grace’s continuing story, but it also features lion shifter, Jed. He is brother to Emma Timmon’s mate. He also has his own share of personal issues, especially with demons. Interestingly, he also has a back history with Grace. What happens next is what kept me engrossed and entertained. Ms. Wilde did a great job of Nairobi world-building as the paranormal world is seamlessly blended with 21st century society. Not only is the plot well written, but all of the characters are individually unique and believable.
I enjoyed this stand-alone and clean novel. The underlying theme of trust, forgiveness and new beginnings are themes that speaks to all people everywhere. I definitely recommend it.
Disclosure: I received an ARC of this book from the author. I am voluntarily submitting my honest review.
Another great story in the Lion Shifters series by one of my favorite authors. It’s funny, but I usually don’t read books in this genre, and yet, once I started reading Vered Ehsani’s Society for Paranormals books, and then her Cozy Tea Shoppe Mysteries books, I couldn’t get enough of her stories! Now this new series, set in modern times but related to both of those earlier ones, has captured both my imagination and my heart. Ella Wilde/Vered Ehsani writes entertaining, witty, sweet, scary, touching, exciting, tragic, humorous stories that quickly pull you into their world. Despite being in love, when Jed learns of Grace’s deep and very dark secret, they separate. Fate brings them together again, with anger, resentment, and bittersweet memories to suppress, in order to resolve a serious and heartbreaking situation. Will love overcome the great divide? Shifts happen!
I was given an advance copy of this book, and have decided to leave my honest opinion. I highly recommend it – honestly!
