Intriguing, intesnse, and addictive! Can’t wait for the rest of the story!!!!!!
A Debt Owed is part one of The Debt Duet by Clarissa Wild. An intense and intriguing story that will pull you in right from the start!!
There is not to much to share, especially since the story continues with A Debt Repaid (The Debt Duet #2). All I can tell you is that this is well-written and plotted amazing read, with a really bad boy that needs to redeem himself in any freaking way, in order for me to fully, and completely fall for him!!
Can’t wait for the conclusion to see where this intense story is taking us!!
ARGH, stupid cliffhanger…
I’ve been a fan of Wild’s books for a while now so anything she puts out, I’m reading it. If you’ve read anything from her, you’ll know that a lot of her books are super dark and quite frankly messed up, which is right up my ally. A Debt Owed is not as crazy as we know this author can get so if that kind of stuff isn’t your cup of tea, don’t worry.
I will admit that even though this is a shorter book, it did take me a bit to get into it. Normally the enemies to lovers troupe has me hooked from the start but something held me back a bit and I can’t figure out what it was. Don’t get me wrong, I ended up really getting hooked on Easton and Charlotte’s story but it took me longer than I would have liked.
What I did absolutely love is Charlotte’s strength and stubbornness. Girl, I feel you. While I know there will be more twists and turns, I can’t wait to see what we get from her next. I know she will survive anything and come out stronger.
Overall, I enjoyed this book. Yes, there is a cliffhanger. Yes, you will want the next book immediately. Yes, you’ve gotta wait like the rest of us but I have no doubt it will be worth it!
Once again I am left wondering if I’m coming or going. Not sure if I want her to get away or to stay with the man that runs hot and cold. I was on the fence on whether or not I loved him or hated him with a passion which always seems to be the case and I can never get enough because of it! The cliffhanger… WOW!!! I must get the next. Counting down the days until I can get more!
I was so happy to see a new book by Clarissa Wild I jumped on Amazon and bought it. I thought I knew what I was getting into when I started this one, but as always Clarissa twisted it all around and gave us a different type of story.
Charlotte Davis and Easton have a horrible history. Being miss treated all her life, Charlotte has to walk a fine line in her family and with her father. But as she gets older Charlotte finally gets to walk away or so she thinks. Just when she finds her way in life, her father pulls her back into the fold. To tell her she is getting married.
Easton has been waiting for this moment, the moment when he can take Charlotte in hand and make her his wife. But first, he had to ruin her family and put enough pressure on them for his plan to work. But I don’t think Easton thought Charlotte would fight him as much as she does.
I have to admit that the girl has some guts. I loved that about her. Yes, of course when she is in the moment with Easton and when he is giving her affection, she is in his hands. But that will happen for a woman when she has never had real love. But as soon as she is away from him, she is back to fighting for her freedom. And that is what I enjoyed the most about this story. The fight, the never give up, and man the ending was terrific! I can not wait for the next book!
Great book but has a cliffhbanger hate that! I can’t wait to read the one ! Pager turner, exciting , interesting characters, well put together book
No!!!! I can’t wait for the next book! Gah! I wasn’t expecting a cliffhanger. A Debt Owed is a dark and dangerous story of retribution. The antihero is out for revenge, taking his obsession captive in a deal with her father.
Charlotte is taken against her will by Easton Van Buron to satisfy her father’s debt. She’s taken to the Netherlands and held captive in Easton’s home. She has no freedom and must submit to Easton’s will. She holds her father’s life in her hands. Forced to marry Easton and play his wife. Easton wants to destroy Charlotte’s father by taking everything away from him.
Manipulation is the name of the game in A Debt Owed. Easton’s need for vengeance turns dark. Charlotte is sacrificed and trapped in the web of deceit. 4 Stars
2 ½ Stars
A Debt Owed by Clarissa wild is a story of revenge- an enemies to lovers romance with angst, and drama. I have really enjoyed other books by Clarissa Wild, so I was really excited to get my hands on this book. As soon as it arrived on my Kindle, I dove in. I had high expectations and it pains me to say this, but this is my least favourite read of Ms. Wild’s that I have read so far.
I found it difficult to connect to the characters, which detracted from my enjoyment of the story. The story and characters really frustrated me- I just couldn’t get into the story. It didn’t feel believable and a lot of the story felt forced or a little too ‘convenient’. I felt the characters needed a little more depth and development too.
The story continues in the next book, which was another frustrating factor. I don’t know if I will bother with the next book at this stage. I think I will wait a few weeks and then re-read this book again to see if I still feel the same way, or if I was just having a bad day when I read this.
I really wanted to love this book- and I feel bad that I didn’t- especially when I normally love Ms. Wild’s work. I recommend you read the story for yourself, because I may have just been having an off day.
Thank you, Ms. Wild!
I love everything from Clarissa Wild and this was no different. It was a real page turner, dark, twisted, such a roller coaster ride. You will not be disappointed. And holy cliffhanger, I cannot wait for the next one.
AWESOME READ
A Debt Owed was a lightly dark, twisted delicious treat to read! Charlotte and Easton’s story is so full of twists and intense moments that I couldn’t put the book down. His obsession with Charlotte since for years and is determined to have what he wants at any cost. Charlotte is determined not be be owned by anyone, not even the boy she once crushed on.
This read will definitely grab your attention and keep you reading until the end! I definately can’t wait for book 2!
Wow. What a cliffhanger. Charlotte is a very stubborn woman, it she cannot see any good in Easton. Now Easton has been good to her, but I think they both need to be honest with each other especially Easton with Charlotte. Now we wait for the next book. Enjoy.
I suggest you grab this book, sit down and put your feet up because once you start reading this book you are not going to want to move until you have finished it. Although the plot is not unique as such, this author has done an amazing job of making it seem fresh and unique. There are plenty of surprises and emotions as this story opens up. It’s dark at times but not too much. The characters have wonderful chemistry and great dialogue. It does end on a cliffhanger, so I am eagerly awaiting the next book in the series.

This would have been a 5 star book, but It was a short book with a sort of cliffhanger. A cliffhanger you knew was coming, so it wasn’t a surprise.
I have had a genre change this year, reading less YA and more adult romance. With that being said, I found the premise of this book enticed me, and I was not disappointed. I found both main characters to be completely believable, and the world building very well done. At times, the responses of Charlotte were just somewhat lacking for me. Although she didn’t let go of her need for freedom throughout the book, which I thought was a good thing.
This is somewhat a dark twisted romance, with revenge as the motivation. Easton has been infatuated with Charlotte for a long time, as suggested by the glimpses into the past. The POV’s are from both Easton and Charlotte, and personally I prefer Easton’s. In this first book, there are no graphic sex scenes, but there are a few graphic self pleasuring and oral scenes. These were well done, and we were given enough to make it steamy and hot, and a little on the wrong side.
Overall, I thought this was a good read, but a bit short, I feel this could have been a bit longer. I can see the need for a cliffhanger for this type of book. I look forward to see what happens in the next.
Trigger warning non-con/forced consent, and a cliffhanger. This was definitely a different story and I’m interested in more. Easton is an intriguing character. This book left me a little conflicted, I think getting more of the story will help. I’ll be looking for more from this author.

You can’t have a CW book without tons of craziness and WTH is this?! Easton and Charlotte= WOW. Some parts were like, I don’t know about this but I had to find out what happened. I can’t put down the crazy lol one of the many reasons I’m hooked on Clarissa Wild books!
Disappointing. It dragged on and there was no action between the main couple. Ends on a cliff hanger. I hope it improves.
Charlotte and Easton met years ago at her father’s wedding. She didn’t remember him when they met again and he took offense. Now Charlotte is marrying Easton as payment for her father’s debt. These two fight and have fire between them. Easton is a hard controlling man so it will be interesting to see if he changes any in the next book. Charlotte is a strong determined woman and for the most part doesn’t back down. An interesting story and looking forward to the next book.
A Debt Owed by Clarissa Wild is a book about money, love, and revenge. This is a story of how a young man who was once dismissed by an older rich man holds a grudge for how his family was treated. It explores the relationships between a rich parent who is willing to sell his daughter for monetary gain and the future husband who buys her for his own reasons. This book is full of heart rending interactions between the characters. It will make you think about family, love, and relationships in a whole new way. This is definitely not a sweet love story but it is one story I will never forget. Be aware that this book ends in a cliffhanger with no happy ever after in sight. It grabbed my attention and I can’t wait to find out what happens next. A Debt Owed is an exciting exploration of money, sex, and sin.
I honestly missed this type of writing. It’s so very wrong yet I love it. I love the characters, each trying to manipulate the other to get what they want.
He’s bargained for her, A Debt Owed. He wants her. And all she wants is freedom. He has done everything he can to make her his and she’s doing everything to get away. He’s a complex character and she’s become fiercely independent. Neither can fully reveal themself to the other. Just glimpses, tastes of need, of heart, of character.
I think he may be my favorite character second to Marcus in Ultimate Sin. What I did not expect was the cliffhanger!! How did I miss that?! I NEED book 2 ASAP!!!
A surreal story – thinking that you can get a person as a ’payment’ for a debt you can pay back.
I do can understand Easton’s wish to get back to the one who was a douch to him and his father.
Charlotte and Easton could be a very happy couple, if the debt hadn’t been there.
The ending…!!!! You can’t do that. I need to get the next part of the story.
I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.
