Amelia is getting married. Planning a wedding should be fun right? This one is murder.
Can she figure it out in time to plan her wedding? I love this series & author. Each book is well written and is a fantastic read. I look forward to more.
Harper Lin always delivers with all her series. Wonderful read
Another delightful chapter in the Pink Cupcake saga.
Amelia and Christine were checking out The Old Barn for a place for Amelia’s wedding. They meet Sandra Hope, the owner who is preoccupied with a huge fundraiser they are working on and aren’t ready for. Sandra tells Amelia and Christine to have a look around. They heard a loud shriek and something crashing, then Sandra comes staggering out on the front door and falls on the porch floor revealing a pair of garden shears in her back. 911 is called and Amelia also notices more suspicious things going on after her death. Of course, John, Amelia’s ex-husband isn’t helping things out during this hectic time. Plus there is the second food truck that Amelia is trying to get up and going. Lots of things going on. I have enjoyed every story in this series!!! I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.
Amelia and Dan are getting married!!! Love Dan. So much happening in this book. There is one scene at the beginning that I loved – Amelia takes charge and does not back down. We got to see more of Dan from a family aspect than being a cop – really enjoyed that. Yes there was a murder mystery that of course Amelia had to get involved in but so much more. Great last chapter. I always look forward to the next book in the series.
As always, I loved this installment in the Pink Cupcake series, and I really loved the wedding – it was perfect! I really like the characters, and I felt like I was visiting with friends rather than just reading a book.
A Death Before the Wedding earns 5/5 Wedding Cupcakes…Engaging Fun!
Harper Lin has penned another delightful bit of drama in her tenth Pink Cupcake Mystery series. Amelia Harley is feeling a bit overwhelmed and under-deserving of the perfect wedding with all the trimmings, especially as it is a second one and she’s a mother of two teens. But, her BFF Christine Mills disagrees and sets out to help with the planning. Wedding dresses may not be the best place to start [insert exasperating exhale] so, the two friends head over to The Old Barn, a beautiful venue popular with the rich, famous, and…dead! The owner of the facility staggers through the door, collapses, revealing the gardening shears sticking out of her back. Well, Amelia can’t have the wedding here… Using a third-person narrative, Harper Lin’s well-written drama challenged my inner Sherlock with a few twists and misdirections, but in the end? A surprising “why didn’t I see that?” ending. She also entertained with descriptions and dialogue to clearly depict the settings, characters, and personalities, ex-husband antics, soon-to-be husband support, mother work, chef work, and walking down the aisle excitement. To make the cozy experience complete, Harper adds two treats from the Pink Cupcake: Cornbread Cupcakes with Maple BACON (oh, yeees!) and Jalapeño Cupcakes with Cream Cheese Frosting.
