A Deadly Obsession

I just finished this book and all I can really say is WOW… I haven’t even had time to fully grasp everything I just read.

The story starts out with Ella preparing to leave her family home so she can move into the home of a man she has never met, but been raised to become his wife. The only catch is that there are six other girls who are also there to compete for the same man. She has dreamed about meeting Lucas, getting her own fairy tale story but she has no idea Lucas wants nothing to do with the selection process. He comes off a rude and standoffish but he’s really hiding his own dark secrets. When she stands up to him, when no one else would dare, and suddenly she is all he can think about but in his world having an obsession is a weakness and he can’t afford to be weak.

I seriously can’t get enough of this book. The story was intriguing, dark and twisted, with so many layers to peel back and explore. The characters themselves were interesting and likable to a point, but I definitely was mentally berating them a few times each and at least twice I yelled out loud about how dumb they were. No matter how crazy they made me, I still loved the dynamic between Ella and Lucas. Their chemistry was off the charts and their story is all consuming.

Ella has been waiting her whole life for her Prince Charming, she has been groomed for the role since infancy. This book ends in a cliffhanger, as it is the first half of a duet. This book contains a chilling story of Ella and Lucas, in the settings of a secret society. I will say I really am impressed, but also haunted by what I have read. I love dark romances, and this is one of the darker ones. I love the characters of Ella, Lucas, Hannah, and Jessie. Lucas’s father and brother have something seriously mentally wrong with them. This book has so much going on and a mystery to solve, I guess I will have to read the second half to hopefully have all revealed.

Talk about dark a twisty!! Omg what a read, hate that I’m finished reading this very imaginative dark story!! Really would loved to read the next one right now!! Yes I’m throwing a fit and yes the kind a three year old would do in a store when they don’t get what they want!! I need more than four stars for this one please! Great read!!

What a gripping read from the incredible mind of Vi Cater! This story has an element of beauty and the beast mixed with dark, psychological, suspense, romance and lust. Part of a series so there is a heart stopping cliff hanger! There is so much i want to say about this book but don’t like giving out spoilers, but this book transports you into this dark world of rules, traditions and punishments unlike no other. You feel every emotion, every word the characters portray and your left needing more! Well written and paced through out, this is a real page turner that you cant put down. Cant wait for part 2!

Oh my goodness. This dark and gripping of a story. It has us addicted to it to see what is going to happen next. Ella is so strong at times and so weak at other times. She tends to get herself into a mix. Lucas is dark and strong. He is one that has you second guessing yourself. It is extremely well written and the flow of the story is superb. The descriptions are vivid and easy able to be pictured. This story has you on the edge of your seat from the beginning to the end. Yes, it does end in a cliffhanger and lord knows it is an excellent story. It is a must read and doesn’t disappoint!!!!!!

I’m not one to tell the story so will just mention that I haven’t experienced such gut wrenching roller coaster feelings from the lowest low to a sense of love, caring & tenderness but is it enough for this couple? The odds are stacked against it but I live in hope for part 2 of this compelling page turner. I received an arc & this is my honest & voluntary review.

From almost the beginning, there was a slight buzz flowing through my body! This was a dark and definitely twisted read. Things are not at all as they appear, and the devil you know is better than the one you don’t!
Cruelty, brutality, secrets, lies, mystery, suspense, and a forbidden desire! What more could a reader ask for?!?
I noticed that my heart was pounding a bit harder and faster while reading this.
I liked Ella, but her mother definitely did her a disservice by keeping her so sheltered and not properly preparing her. I wasn’t sure of what to make of Lucas at first, but he grew on me the more I read. Henry just left me feeling on edge the whole time. And let’s not forget Master Andrew, just pure evil!
This book ends in a major cliffhanger! I’m desperate to find out what happens!!!!

The multi-layered characters have sucked me in to this wild ride and I will be looking for part 2 in “A Cruel Confession”! 5 stars.

This book is the second book of the “Obsessed Duet,” and I recommend that you read the first book before reading this book for clarity and better understanding. Lucas was his father’s heir, but an obsession with Ella destroys his chances, and he leaves the family compound taking Ella with him. What follows is a life and death drama, full of suspense and fear as Lucus and Ella seek sanctuary with his father’s enemy. With a bounty on their heads, there is only one avenue to travel. Lucas must reveal the truth to his supporters and seek justice for the ones that have died. The relationship between Lucas and Ella is the focus of this book, and when Lucas fails to reveal the truth, Ella disappears and falls under his father’s control once again. I found this book an absorbing read. The relationship between Lucas and Ella was complex and uncertain. Ella demanded the truth, and Lucas hid the facts to spare her heartache. To discover the dramatic conclusion to their story, you must read this book for yourself.

It was a mixture of secrets, power, family dominance, and father-son power struggle. There are innocence and growth, strength, and perseverance.
I like Ella from the beginning although she seemed very naive at first. Lucas needed a bit more to become likable.
