A Dead Market is the second book in Cee Cee James Flamingo Reality Mystery series. Oh great, Stella O’Neil finally gets her first real estate listing. A quaint little cabin on a pond. Unfortunately, there’s a body floating in the water that turns out to be the previous owner. Online gamers are suddenly turning up and hunting for treasure. A wonderful, crazy read that’s very entertaining.
what a fun real estate transaction…
Okay, I confess I’m a Real Estate agent and found this story very, very entertaining.
Only wish it was so much fun in real life. Bravo Ms. James.
A treasure hunt turned deadly. This storyline of this second book of the series is fascinating. Stella is doing the prep work to show a new listing when she notices something, or is it someone, floating on the lake down the hill. Years ago, a house stood at the bottom of that hill before the flooding that created the lake. If local rumors are true, that same house still stands, underwater, and may be home to hidden treasure. Has someone died while on a treasure hunt? Once again Stella has happened upon a dead body and her curiosity sweeps her into the investigation. Will her observations help local law enforcement solve this crime?
Stella’s family has more drama and secrets than most. Will she be able to find out why the men in her family are determined to nurture a twenty-year grudge and estrangement? Why must they be so stiff-necked? Is it not enough that she must deal with the anxiety relating to a murder investigation without the added drama of her father, uncle, and grandfather refusing to communicate?
This is a fun, clean, and easy read. I recommend it to anyone who enjoys an entertaining whodunit.
Stella O’Neil finally has her first official real estate listing. The house is at Johnson Lake, where the original house had flooded many years earlier. What was originally the Johnson home was now at the bottom of a lake and Old Mr. Johnson had died trying to salvage some of his family’s things. This lead to a rumor that the property was haunted, in addition to a rumor of buried treasure at the bottom of the lake. While checking the property and waiting for a prospective buyer to show up, Stella spots a body floating in the lake. The body is that of Lenny Johnson, the previous owner of the property. Following the discovery of the body, the property is overrun by treasure hunters.
Who killed Lenny Johnson? Why was he killed? Is the treasure really still at the bottom of the lake? Does the treasure really exist? Will Stella be able to get any valid offers for the property? Can Stella solve the mystery of Lenny’s death?
CeeCee James has well developed characters and situations. This story delves deeper into Stella’s background and explains more about who she is and why she reacts the way she does. Although not related to the mystery, the book ends with a slight personal cliff-hanger that leaves you looking forward to the next book in the series.
I purchased a copy of A Dead Market (A Flamingo Realty Mystery Book 2) by CeeCee James and this review was given freely.
A highly descriptive story of family, good friends, murder, and a struggle to succeed. A feud, a riddle, a treasure at the bottom of the lake and a body floating on the lake complicate Stella’s newest attempt to complete her first real estate deal.
Took me awhile to get into this book, hopefully characters will build more. Will buy next in series
