“My first day as a sleuth was more Stephanie Plum than Miss Marple.” Jessica Huntington, amateur sleuth with a shopping jones and a black AMEX card, finds out money can’t buy happiness, or save your neck. Her well-planned life in shambles, she’s hiding out near Palm Springs. When her best friend’s husband is murdered, Jessica and her friends are soon stalked by scoundrels in pantyhose, stilettos, … stilettos, Bruno Maglis, and Armani suits. Roger Stone had something that got him killed. What was it and what will they do to get it back?
Even in a desert paradise life is full of surprises, like A DEAD HUSBAND.

I absolutely love Jessica and all the members of the Cat Pack. I also love Anna Celeste Burke’s writing. This is the first book I’ve read in this series but I’m an avid reader of this author’s other series–Corsario Cove and Georgie Shaw.
In A Dead Husband we meet Jessica and all of her quirky friends–her Cat Pack. I’m looking forward to getting to know all of these characters better as the series progresses. There are plenty of clues and twists and turns that kept me turning the pages to see what would happen next. I like the way everything doesn’t just fall into place for Jessica and the way the Cat Pack work together to solve the murder. Everybody contributes something to the investigation.
I’ve already got the rest of the series on my e-reader and am looking forward to seeing what happens next with Jessica and the Cat Pack.
The desert setting is fantastic with scenery-weather descriptions that portray that setting exquisitely. I loved how the self-indulgent Jessica learned to reach out to her friends both to support & for support. The plot was excellent & the characters delightful. I wanted to be a part of the ‘Cat Pack’. I have the next 2 books and am anxious to read them.
Loved the book. Couldn’t wait to read the next book in the series.
Correct police procedure not followed or there wouldn’t have been a story.
But it was cute.
Run of the mill rathe self-indulgent rich girl post divorce cozy style. Neither amusing nor enthralling. Decent characters but unoriginal and pat, wrap-up style ending.
I found the beginning of the book difficult to get through and found the constant mention of designer shoes and clothes for both men and women tedious. But then I am a man and am not into such things.
