New York Times and USA Today bestselling authors Heidi McLaughlin and L.P. Dover come together for a sexy new series that delivers romance for every season!
Allison Wood is single and not looking to mingle. Unfortunately, her sister, Erin, doesn’t take no for an answer. As the producer of a new reality TV show, that turns a traditional Easter egg hunt into a dating show, Erin believes her sister … her sister would be a perfect contestant and secures her a spot.
Instead of cozying up at home and biting the ears off a chocolate bunny, Allison finds herself in Aruba hiding an egg while America watches. She could have been paired up with a slew of other guys. But who does fate match her with? Sexy fireman Hudson Bryant, who happens to be the same guy that made Allison’s high school years miserable.
Go on a dating show, they said. It’ll be fun, they said.
When viewers learn of their history, the pair instantly become a fan favorite. Everyone is eager to see how their story will unfold. For the good of the show, Allison agrees to play nice with the former jock… for now.
Can Hudson make amends for the past and crack through Allison’s hard candy shell to her cream-filled center? Or will her time with him leave a bitter, black jelly bean taste in Allison’s mouth?

Allie and Hudson’s story is my favorite of the series so far! Allie never wanted to be on a reality TV show but she agrees at the insistence of her sister and family. Hudson applied on a dare by his best friend but when he gets selected, he has no problem jumping in feet first. Neither one expected to be confronted by a blast from their past on the island, and they certainly have two very different reactions.
Allie has never forgiven Hudson for the way he treated her in high school and she is not about to cut him any slack whatsoever. After he finally clues in to who he has been matched up with, Hudson is determined to prove to Allie that he is not the same guy she once knew. She never realized Hudson actually had a crush on her, but he managed to mess up everything from the first time they met and just dug himself a deeper hole with every passing day.
Over the years, Allie has lost her adventurous side and this show is a great way to rediscover it with Hudson’s help. He starts to win her over under the constant glare of the cameras and a live audience, but can they survive in the real world?
A Date for the Hunt was a great quick read filled with laughter, heat and heart that I really enjoyed!
Sweet enemies to lovers novella. Great characters and location. Loved the premise of the story between Allie the pharmacist and Hudson the firefighter.
This was such a great story!! Loved how they knew each other in high school and then met again on a TV show and fell inlove. I absolutely loved this short story!! Very cute ladys!!
I loved A Date for the Hunt. It’s a cute sweet cute read. It’s a quick read, like you can read it on your lunch break quick. Allison sister, Erin is a producer for a dating new Easter themed reality show. Allison offers to be a contestant to help her sister out. So for the show there are ten single men and ten single ladies in Aruba for two weeks. They are matched up by which guy finds the girl’s hidden egg. I love the premise for the show and would totally watch it if it was a real show. Allison is a great character. She’s pharmacist but also like nature and outdoorsy stuff. I liked her. She gets matched up with Hudson. He’s a firefighter. He likes challenges. No one knew that Hudson and Allison knew each other before the show. Allison isn’t happy with Hudson and she does some funny things to get back at him. Hudson doesn’t back done from a challenge and breaks down her walls. I liked these two together and I loved their story.
This dynamic writing duo have once again delivered a sweet, heartwarming and oh so much fun read! An Easter dating show that pairs up couples who are strangers…or are supposed to be, to date for all America to see. What a unique and fun idea. Get ready for Allie and Hudson’s dating escapades presented for you and all of America to critique !!

I have to admit this book is my favorite in the series so far because I love enemies to lovers tropes. The clever dating game that brings them together is a fun and exciting plot line on the beautiful island of Aruba.
Fate has brought Allison and Hudson together after 10 years where a misunderstanding then becomes a quest for forgiveness and new beginnings. The chemistry between them is hot and their adventures in paradise are so fun I wish I were there in the sun and the sand.
Yet another fun summer read with an Easter egg hunt on the beach.
Thank you to Ms. McLaughlin and Ms. Dover for giving me the opportunity to read this book with no expectation of a positive review.
Like the others in this series this book was a fun, quick read.
Allison is a spit fire and makes everything in her life fun. Even though she works really hard at everything she does and doesn’t always have enough time for a person life.
Hudson is an adventurous firefighter and one not to back out of a dare.
When these to meet up for the Egg Hunt things take a turn neither of them thought would happen. However, could this turn be for the better or will it end in disaster?
Who are Allison and Mr. Bishop? Where are they? What does Allison do for a living? Who is Cecilia? When Allison leaves work to see Erin at her job, what I learned made me chuckle. Why do I have a feeling Allison is about to get sucked into what Erin is planning? Who are Jensen and Hudson? What do they do for a living? Oh my gosh! There were some not so great fireworks in this story, but then things just blew up in a good way. Enjoy the read! I loved it, I couldn’t stop laughing and smiling!

A Date for the Hunt
Book 4 The Dating Series
L.P. Dover, Heidi McLaughlin
What an awesome book to a great series!! The characters make a great complicated but sweet couple. A short but sweet story.
I fully enjoyed and recommend. Can not wait for the next one in the series.
I absolutely love this novella series! The perfect pick me up and an easy way to pass a bit of time without becoming too bogged down in anything heavy or serious. And it always helps that there’s already some type of history between the characters to propel the romance forward. This time we get Allison and Hudson, who’ve known each other since freshman year of high school, although they weren’t exactly friends back then, although one of them did have a serious crush on the other. I did wonder how one could forget their crush’s name after a few years, but it doesn’t take long before memories are brought forth about what happened in high school.
For the most part this is a simple and straight-forward romance; luckily no OM/OW drama to throw a wrench in a potentially blossoming relationship. All of the hurt from high school is dealt with early in the book (only 11 chapters so no point devoting chapters to the past). I did get a kick out of Allison’s little form of payback during their first outing with the sunscreen, and Hudson proved to be mature and realized how his high school actions affected Allison and accepted the revenge gracefully and with humor. The rest of the book is the developing romance between these two, especially Allison’s changing feelings for Hudson. The follow-up was sweet, although I wish it had happened a bit further down the road for them instead of 3 months later. But I’m already looking forward to the next book in the series!
A date for the hunt…LOVE!!
The concept in this book is genius. Back in high school Allison is a nerd that gets picked on by the jocks relentlessly. Fast forward to her sister creating a new reality TV show and insisting Allison be a part of it. Little does she know that her and one of her high school bullies, Hudson are coming face to face again. Pick up this book and see how the story plays outs. This was my favorite novellas in the series so far. Super sweet, sassy and swoony!!
A fun sexy read you won’t be able to put down. I loved the plot of this book even though it was more like a reality show it’s one of my all time favorite novellas. Find an egg it could lead you to your soul mate or your worst nightmare. I laughed out loud and had a smile on my face throughout this short read. It’s the perfect lazy day have a bottle of wine read lol. I can’t wait to read more of these novellas they are truly a pick me up.
When Allison’s sister Erin calls and needs her help, Allison reluctantly agrees. I say reluctantly because the help she needs isn’t babysitting, helping her paint a room, or any of the mundane things we ask our friends and family to help with. Oh no, Erin asks Allison to be a contestant on a reality dating show she’s created and producing. Allison will be whisked away to the tropical island of Aruba as one of 5 women who will be paired up with 5 men that are also coming. The couples are paired up when one of the men finds the egg that the women hide.
What a great premise, right?! I was totally invested in this, right from the get go.
As viewers watch the men find the hidden eggs, they see that the hunky fireman, Hudson Bryant sticks his hand into the cactus garden to grab the beautifully decorated egg. When they’re paired up, Hudson doesn’t understand Allison’s attitude towards him, he’s just met her, right?
WRONG! It turns out that Hudson and Allison go way back. All the way back to high school where Hudson made Allison’s first day in a new school horrible. He’d broken her nose on accident. Then she was given a horrible nickname that she carried for years. Hudson and Allison quickly become the fan favorites, and everyone is interested to see what happens next for the pair. Especially when their history together is revealed.
I can’t recommend this story enough! Even though this is the 4th book in the Dating Series, it can be read as a standalone. The writing is amazing, there’s great world building, the characters seem real. The whole story leaps off the pages and it feels like you’re on the island of Aruba with Hudson, Allison, and the rest of the characters, having a wonderful vacation. There’s laugh out loud moments, and sweet romance brewing in this must read story.
*I received an ARC of this story, and this is my honest and voluntary review. I loved this story so much that I not only went and purchased a copy of this story, but the first three in the series as well.
A Date for the Hunt is the third in the Dating Series by LP Dover and Heidi McLaughlin that I have read and continued in the tradition; it is a sweet romp into romance land. Each in the series centers around a holiday, and this book focused loosely on Easter.
Allie and Hudson know each other from high school. What Allie perceived as bullying Hudson knew were his clumsy attempts to get to know her. He was popular, so the assumption was he was picking on her. Allie has a bit of grudge, and Hudson wants to change that. Dover and McLaughlin have once again proven you can write a hugely sweet love story and put it in a small package. Each time I read one in the Dating Series, I wonder if it’s going to keep holding true–and yes it does.
You can read this series quickly (novellas) and catch up on the holidays. I’m curious about what the next holiday holds. I look forward to it.
A Date for the Hunt was a very entertaining read. The premise is a reality dating show set in tropical Aruba. The heroine is pharmacist, Allison Wood with Hudson Bryant, a firefighter as her match. The show’s concept is a departure from the standard reality dating themes as it involves finding a decorated egg. This story packed some very humorous moments throughout as Hudson sought to win over Allison. I am truly enjoying the diversity and variety of the stories in this series.
This is the fourth book in the Dating Series, a collaboration between Heidi McLaughlin and L.P. Dover.
This is the first book in this series that I have read, it was a quick and fun read. I enjoyed the storyline even as fast paced as it was. The characters were amazing and I loved the banter and the fun elements of the story too. A very good story that I enjoyed immensely.
When Allie’s sister Erin convinces her to sign up for a reality show she’s producing, she’s not exactly thrilled. She may be single but she’s not looking to go out and find herself a man. Yet, that is exactly what Erin’s show aims to do – find her and 9 other women a man with whom their Easter eggs are paired. Just her luck that she’s paired with the man who tormented her in high school. What she didn’t realize was that Hunter had always crushed on her back then and that his actions and behavior was never purposely meant to hurt her. But Allie wants revenge and Hunter wants to make up for his past and get the girl who’s now a gorgeous woman. Which one will win out?
Ahhh I love this series! It just keeps getting better with each story, and Allie and Hunter are definitely the best couple yet. Their witty, snarky banter just masking serious chemistry, the mini adventures they go on, and the sweet way they fall in love. This is a feelgood, sweet, and sexy little story. Can’t wait for the next “date”.
This is the 4th book in this amazing series and is Allison and Hudson’s story. Allison is single and a pharmacist who lead a pretty bring life, and her sister who is a produced for a reality show signs her up as a contestant. This show leads to a 2-week vacation in Aruba. This is an Easter Egg Hunt and as luck would have is sexy fireman Hudson finds her egg, and he used to be her high school nemesis, and they are now paired together. This is a beautifully written tale which is sweet, fun, humorous and entertaining. I look forward to reading more from this collaboration of authors, and I highly recommend their work for all readers.
A Date For The Hunt is one sweet read you won’t wanna miss!! Hudson turns up the swoon factor big time and Allie brings the laughs in this fun, and heartwarming story!! Five stars for another great addition to The Dating Series!
There’s an air of whimsy to this heartwarming series and I can’t help but be drawn into the sweetness that it brings. Dover and McLaughlin bring out the best in each other. McLaughlin gives the heart a chance to speak, while Dover tempts the heart with a wicked sense of humor. A Date for the Hunt is a tasty peace of heaven that will light up the dark places of the heart.
