New York Times and USA Today bestselling authors Heidi McLaughlin and L.P. Dover come together for a sexy new series that delivers romance for every season!
For Brielle Armstrong the pomp and circumstance of the days leading up to the Kentucky Derby are truly the most thrilling time of the year. Press junkets, designer gowns, everyone schmoozing her in hopes of getting in her daddy’s good … good graces. What’s not to love?
But this year, her heart is racing with anticipation to see Colby Hensley. As a former trainer of her family’s champion horses, his rugged sex appeal has always filled Brielle’s mind with naughty thoughts of a little barebacked fun.
Even though Colby walked away from their farm, her father Butch, would never approve of him. But what daddy doesn’t know can’t hurt him. If their secret comes out, it could cost Brielle everything. Still, what fun is life if you don’t ride it at a gallop?
Grab your riding crop, and place your bets. It’s Derby Day!

4.5 stars for this sweet second chance romance!! Another totally fulfilling novella in the dating series! I don’t want to give anything away since the story is short, but let’s just say that Colby and Brielle are from very different worlds and being together is frowned upon. At least by her father who he worked for. Now not only does Colby have a chance to win the Derby with the horse he trained, Maximus, but he has a second chance to win Brielle’s heart. Will he succeed? Pick this one up and find out!
Today was a beautiful day thanks to Heidi McLaughlin and L.P. Dover. I got to escape reality and head to the the Kentucky Derby. Mint juleps are optional but smiles will blossom. The story was a quick fun read taking me on a fantastic journey to a happily ever after.
A date for the Derby was the perfect second chance, wrong side of the horse track romance. Colby is a young horse trainer trying to make his way in the world of horse racing. When he left Armstrong Stables to train the perfect horse he lost his family and the love of his life, Brielle Armstrong whose father owned the stables.
Colby returns three years later as the trainer of Maximus, one of 21 horses in the Derby but it won’t be easy. The drama created within the book is AMAZING. Tensions run high as Colby goes to event after event watching Brielle as Brielle watches him. Their love is forbidden. He could loose everything. She could loose everything. The question is, will Maximus win.
Colby Hensley used to train horses at Brielle Armstrong’s family farm, Armstrong Acres, for the Kentucky Derby but that didn’t end on good terms. He is back now at another farm with his horse Maximus and the hopes of a win. The only issue is what will happen when he sees Brielle again? He always cared for her but with the family divide can he win her back too? A sweet, second chance, small town romance. These are all novellas that are the perfect quick read for your romance fix.
