New York Times and USA Today bestselling authors Heidi McLaughlin and L.P. Dover come together for a sexy new series that delivers romance for every season!
It’s New Year’s Eve and Natalie has a rare night off from her shifts at the hospital. Determined to have fun with friends, she stops at a local store for provisions.
There, amongst the craft beer and pork rinds, she comes face to face with … face to face with her high school boyfriend, Brennan McLean. He’s a rockstar. She’s a nurse. To say life led them in different directions would be putting it mildly. Still, time hasn’t lessened the electric chemistry between them. By the end of the night more was dropping than just the ball.
Convincing herself she could have fun without getting attached, Natalie treats herself to a weekend tangled in the sheets with him. But that lie she told herself pops faster than champagne bubbles.
With media rumors swirling around Brennan, can the pair find a way to make their unlikely relationship work? Or will Natalie’s resolution not to get her heart broken meet a painful end?

Loved this story could not wait to see what would happen next. Loved the way Brennan showed his true feelings for Natalie.
4.5 stars. This was a super fast sweet, romantic and a little bit spicy story! I really enjoyed the story itself, I just wish it was longer. That’s only because I really loved Brennan and Natalie and was so happy they got a second chance at love one snowy New Year’s Eve. These ladies do great things when they write together. With Natalie and Brennan’s lives being so different it didn’t seem like a relationship was sustainable beyond NYE but sometimes life is worth making a change to be able to have everything you want. I loved it!
4 Star Review of A Date For Midnight (The Dating Series #1) by Heidi McLaughlin & L.P.Dover
Both Heidi McLaughlin and L.P.Dover are relatively new to me; I have only read one book from each of them prior to this collaboration. This was an entertaining second chance at love story that kept my attention from the first to the last chapter.
Natalie and Brennan, high school sweethearts whose lives have gone in different directions, Natalie as a nurse and Brennan as a rock star. Two worlds that are so far apart it is impossible to think that they could have anything in common anymore.
However, fate works in mysterious ways and the chemistry that they once had is still there simmering between them. Could it be that easy? Could they pick up where they left off? Perhaps a one night stand? Or could this be the start of something more?
I really liked these characters, they were easy to relate to, these two were meant to be together and I really cheered for them to get their happily ever after.
What a great short read this was. Brennan and Natalie are so cute together, high school sweethearts, that missed their chance at forever. Can’t wait for more of this dating series, by two amazing authors.
On a snowy New Years Eve, Natalie decides to attend a house party during a Nor’easter. She never expected to run into her high school sweetheart, rockstar Brennan McLean! 3.5 Stars
This was a quick read, and enjoyable. I stumbled upon this, and thought I’d give this shot. And I’m glad that I did.
Brennan and Nat were high school sweethearts. But after graduating, they broke up so they could both pursue their dreams- Brennan to become a rock star, and Nat to become a nurse. Years later, both having accomplished their dreams, they happen to run in to each other on New Year’s Eve, and get to know each other again.
I thought this book was really good! I love a good rock star romance. The only thing that really bothered me was that the ending seemed a little abrupt for me; I would have liked a little more to satisfy me about their future.
I most certainly will read more in this Dating series!
A short second chance romance book. Stuck home because of a storm in New Years, a sexy rockstar runs into his first love, a nurse. Sparks fly, feelings are rekindled. In the quick story you get a lot of feeling and sexy time!
Heidi McLaughlin & L.P. Dover are at it again! This first book in their new Dating Series was a winner for me. The series is set to be full of second chance romance novellas, and it’s definitely a favorite troupe of mine. A Date for Midnight features Brennan and Natalie, high school sweethearts that reconnect on New Year’s Eve. Both have made their career dreams come true, but personally they have never forgot the feelings they had for each other. This story was short, but it was equal parts sweet and sexy.
I completely adore this couple who knows maybe we will see more from them. Both content with their lives but missing something. A fling might be just the thing but what if feelings make you want something more? This was a fast, steamy, sweet read. I really enjoyed the plot. The characters really standout and have a complex side to them. Stubborn yet their hearts seem to recognize their missing piece. The writing draws you in and I could easily see more books for this couple. I love the writing style and I look forward to reading more from this series.
Love both these authors so this was a must read for me
Very easy and sweet read about a second chance between Brennan and Natalie. Cute meet up and reconnection between these two. Sort of felt like a cliffhanger at the end and not really a fan of those.
I am a fan of these two authors writing together. I loved their previous series and this book was a good start to this set of short books.
This is a second chance, rock star book. It was a cute, fast paced book with likable characters and a sweet story.
What are the chances of running into your high school boyfriend turned rock star on New Year’s Eve when he actually live son the other side of the country? For Natalie she never though she would see Brennan again but fate has other plans.
Grab this book for quick cute read, you won’t be disappointed.
Let’s start the New Year off with a bang. Forgot the resolutions. Forget the promises. Make good choices that is Natalie’s new mantra. Getting out of a rut is Brennan’s desire.
Natalie is fresh out of a divorce with only a penthouse and job that no longer includes her ex-husband to show for it. She passes her days by working, working and more work as an ER nurse. But tonight she is going to bring in the New Year with her best friend, Emerson. Just a quick stop to pick up beer and it is time to celebrate.
Brennan is snowed in, stuck in mounds of the white stuff in Boston instead of lying on a beach in sunny California. No matter where he brought in the New Year he would have to deal with crazy fans. What to do?? What to do? A call to Jordan, the one guy he keeps in touch with and plans are made. A quick trip to the grocery store to take care of the BYOB and he would be on his way.
Who knew choosing the right beer could lead to a bright new year? This is a cute, quick second chance romance that has all the complications of a long distance romance and a guy that is a superstar.
Frustrations fill the pages. If this is to work one of them will have to sacrifice. Who will it be? Let the countdown begin to a sweet, romantic happily ever after.
4 to 4.5 stars
Brennan and Natalie shared a lot of firsts but life led them down different paths. When Brennan gets stuck in Boston after a trip home to visit his parents for the holidays, he never expects to run into Natalie. But after a few days and nights together remind them what they are missing out on, real life comes crashing in making them wonder if they can find a way to make a second chance work.
This was a cute, really quick read with a whole lotta sweet and a good dose of sexy times! I am looking forward to seeing what else the authors have coming our way in this series
Heidi McLaughlin and L.P. Dover are 2 of my favorite writers. I was so excited to find out they were writing a fun Dating Series.
A Date for Midnight was a Cute, Quick read about an unexpected 2nd chance with your first love.
I definitely can’t wait for the rest of the series.
I’ve read this authors other co-written series and I loved that series a lot, so I was excited when they announced that they were writing more books together! I signed up for an early copy of this book and started reading it as soon as I received it! I also thought that this was going to be a full-length book, but it’s actually a novella lol! This means that I read it in one sitting! I loved the speed of the plot and what happened in it! It was a very sweet read and There wasn’t any action or suspense in the plot, which I wasn’t expecting, but there was plenty of romance! I loved the way the romance developed and that it was all about the characters reconnecting years later! The romance allowed for a few seriously hot scenes too! The ending of this novella was also left at the perfect place, but it still left me wanting more lol! The characters were also amazing and made this novella even better! Natalie was the main female character, and I had a lot of respect for her in this book because she was a nurse and she worked hard and long hours! Natalie was also an easy character for me to connect with because there was something very likable about her! I loved that she got to reunite with the guy she really loved as well! Brennan was the main male character and love interest of Natalie! Brennan had made an amazing life and career for himself in this novella and he was a famous musician! Brennan wasn’t that big-headed though, even though he was well-known and had money! I loved the way Brennan was with Natalie as well! She made him realise a lot about what was important in his life! It was easy to see that Brennan had deep feelings for and Natalie and wanted to be in a relationship with her! I loved that this novella was written from Natalie and Brennan’s point of views! I was hoping that it was going to before I started reading and because of the way the synopsis is written! This novella being written from two authors also made me think that it would be written from duel point of view as well! It helped me connect more with Natalie and Brennan and see how they really felt about reconnecting and also being apart! It allowed more things to happen in the plot as well, which helped as the characters did spent some time apart and had their own situations going on! I now can’t wait to read the next novella in this series! I know that it’s going to be a complete standalone and not focus on any characters that make an appearance in this novella! This has me really excited to read it and find out what’s going to happen in it! I know that the next novella releases next month, which isn’t long of a wait at all! I’ll definitely be reading it as soon as it releases! I also love the cover for this novella a lot and it would definitely draw me to it! I love how well it suits the feel of the novella and what happens in it as well! The cover image also suits the characters!
Who is Brennan? Where do we find him at the beginning of the story? What is going on and where is he supposed to go? What does Brennan do for a living? How does he feel about things? Who is Natalie? Who are Emerson and Callum? When publicity things happen, we see things get out of hand. What is done to fix it? This is a sweet, second-chance romance. Enjoy it!
RECEIVED THIS BOOK AS A GIFT FOR A FAIR/HONEST REVIEW and REVIEWER FOR Bloggin’ With M. Brennan.
A Date for Midnight is the first book in the dating series by Heidi and LP . This is a quick, sexy, fun read that introduces us to Natalie and Brennan . They were high school sweethearts that took totally different roads . Natalie followed her dream of working in the medical field. She is now a successful ER nurse working in a busy hospital in her hometown. Her job makes it difficult to date but she is constantly be set up by her wonderful friends .
Brennan was always musically inclined and his path was the road to rocker stardom . He is in the eye of the public but he is still the same warm, funny man that he always was and needs to feel real again.
A snowstorm, and chance meeting in a grocery store and the possibilities are endless for a second chance at the one that got away! Loved Natalie and Brennan and their try at second chances !!
~~Michele McMullen~~
Natalie’s New Year’s resolution is “to make better choices”. After her divorce, she threw herself into her work and didn’t have time for a social life, but her best friend, Emerson, has other plans for her. So, Natalie is finally taking a night off as an ER nurse and attending Emerson’s New Year’s Eve party which includes meeting a blind date. However, Natalie runs into her old high school boyfriend, Brennan McLean, who is now a superstar singer, and all the feelings she had for him years ago have resurfaced. Their meeting turns into a few days of hot sex until Brennan has to go back to California. Did she just make another bad choice?
On his way to a party, Brennan runs into Natalie. The beautiful girl he fell for in high school is now a beautiful woman and he realizes his feelings haven’t changed for her. It is so refreshing to be with someone who knows him as a real person and not as a famous musician. But he has to return to California and he can’t stop thinking of her.
This novella is a good start to a promising series. Brennan and Natalie are a great couple, but have their lives changed too much? Will Natalie be able to deal with Brennan’s showy life with promotions including fake girlfriends? Will Brennan be able to concentrate on his next album when all he thinks about is Natalie? If you enjoy romance reunited, give this one a try.
Thank you to Ms. McLaughlin and Ms. Dover for giving me the opportunity to read this book with no expectation of a positive review.
