I really thought this was a cute short YA read!
I loved this e-book! The plot was good and writing was excellent. I loved the characters. The ending is very sweet. The author did a great job writing this lovely and excellent e-book. I can’t wait to read the next story with different characters. If you like reading sweet and contemporary YA romance stories, then this e-book is for you.
Thank you to the author for receiving a DRC of this e-book in exchange for honest review.
The author aka Katy Regnery is one of my favorite authors ever since I started reading her books. This one’s a bit different than she’s written before but I just couldn’t get enough! Some things in the story you could really relate to ‘cuz as women we’ve all felt the way Hannah’s felt sometimes.
Hannah feels like the odd girl out when she’s at the wedding of her sister. She never really felt like someone worthy of love and she’d rather be somewhere else than at the wedding. But when she meets Liam, there’s this undeniable chemistry between them. Even though she’s feeling a bit insecure, Liam makes her feel butterflies and who knows, maybe something can grow…
Liam hasn’t had much luck in his life and when he first sets eyes on Hannah, there’s this instant connection he feels towards her. The more time they spend together, the deeper the connection seems to grow and they may have more in common than they realise. But Liam’s hiding something that may end up destroying Hannah’s faith in love forever….
I absolutely love this book a great teenage romance I could not put it down I loved every second I voluntary reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book

Do you have a teenager who loved watching the Kissing Booth but you’d never let them in your Kindle? You need to #1click on A Date For Hannah by Callie Henry. It a perfect story that depicts all the insecurities and flutters of first love. #TrueStory I didn’t sign up for review tour because YA. And we know I am the furthest thing from YA. But I read the synopsis and a few reviews. One review stuck with me as was in the same boat – older reader, not YA fan but love Katy Regnery’s stories. So I clicked it and read it.
This is exactly as advertised – Katy speaks to that audience demographic (14-18) but she still talks to them not at them. Which when I was that that age, I wanted to be talked to like an adult. Ms. Regnery really captured that ‘feeling’ of not knowing what you are feeling (attraction) but liking it all the same. There are some struggles with self image that every teen can relate to. Am I cute enough? Smart enough? Not awkward or weird? As adults, we can reminisce about those times. Because the storytelling is delivered in such a way that teens won’t struggle with it being ‘high brow’ language and relatable to them. Adults will not find it juvenile or cheesy as I’ve found some YA delivering to adult audiences to be.
I highly recommend it to anyone with teens wanting to read romance but never give them your Kindle password. For adults, if you want to find a trip down memory lane without feeling wrung out with drama, prepare to be entertained with Katy’s storytelling once again.
Hannah is a sweet and loyal girl who has a serious complexion due to not being thin as dictate aesthetic standards, because of that she has developed a problem in trusting the boys who approach her.
Arriving at her sister’s wedding and finding cute and friendly Liam willing to be her company during the wedding, she is a little suspicious but soon becomes charmed by the boy’s way with many affinities with her.
Right from the start I thought it was going to be another book of these adolescent cliche, but Calle surpassed me with a light and funny story that made me stuck to the book until I knew how everything would end.
I liked the plot, the characters, how everything was conducted until the beautiful ending and especially the cover. I’m sick of covers with people and without effects but this one simply could not have been better chosen for the book.
I just did not give 5 stars because I found it a bit repetitive that Hannah thinks all the time that she’s fat.
Highly recommend for all ages ….
A sweet, sweet quick read. For every girl who hates or hated the person reflected back at them…this is an inspirational feel great journey for you.
No lust, no explicit steam just an all around wholesome journey of first young love and a stunning young man to fall for! Liam rocks!!!
I grew up a the girl with the large chest and larger hips….dreaming of that one boy to see me for me…..this is that story! Swoony hearts!
I’d like to see these character evolve to thier adult selves in a lusty spinoff!
A cute short story that is meant for YA and the young at heart. It was short and I didn’t get to know these characters really well. It brought me back 30 years back and reminded me that I don’t want to relive those years. Being a teenager is hard.
A Date For Hannah is a Young Adult book that is a clear sweet romance perfect for all ages. Hannah is an overweight young lady who doesn’t realize how beautiful and sweet she is. Liam is a handsome and gentle young man who feels weighed down by his past troubles with the law. They meet at Hannah’s sister’s wedding under dubious circumstances and feel an immediate connection. The way they interact and deal with each other’s issues is almost magical to experience and such a joy to read. Even when hurts are exposed, they trust enough to work through them. Katy Regeny is a wonderful author and weaves wonderful tales and this one is another gem. It is worth every one of it’s 5 stars. I received this book as an ARC for an honest review.
I could really relate to this book. The whole “I don’t look perfect, so no one will love me” part of the teenage years that most of the teen population feels at some point. Hannah’s a little shy, a little self conscious. It takes Liam to see through all her “faults” and to bring her out of her shell. He may be gorgeous, but he’s far from perfect. I miss reading YA books. This one was pretty innocent, but steamy all at the same time. I loved it.
A Date for Hannah by Callie Henry (the YA pen name for Katy Regnery) is Young Adult in its sweetest, purest, most adorable form. It’s a one-sitting read that moves quickly and filled my belly with butterflies. Fans of Ms. Regnery’s adult romance novels will be happy to know that her signature sort of lyrical writing, and breathtaking approach to romance are present in this stripped down, tender, sugary sweet love story between two adorable teens who don’t quite believe that love exists. It is fantastic. I had a feeling that Ms. Regnery would have no problem conquering this new genre – and I am thrilled to have been proved right.
No surprise here: I loved it! As an adult, I appreciated the innocence of this story, and the way it flashed me back to those first love feelings. I loved how it tackled some topical teen issues, while still maintaining an almost whimsical romance feel.
I also appreciate that this is true YA. It’s not mature, nor is it intended to be and, as such, I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend it to younger audiences (12+). It’s clean, it’s entertaining, it’s deeply romantic – and the overall message is one that resonates across all age groups. I absolutely look forward to more from where this simple, sweet, and swoony goodness came from.
A Date for Hannah by Callie Henry, a pseudonym for Katy Regnery, who I love, is a young adult romance with all the feels. A story of a young high school girl with concerns about herself and her self-image that run deep and the curveball life throws at her.
While at her sister’s wedding, the very hot Liam, spends time with Hannah. But she distrusts why he is giving her his attention, even as she is attracted to him. But as they spend time together and get to know each other, you begin to root for this couple. The story was so sweet and open.
Callie Henry did an amazing job bringing to life Hannah and her struggles. It was a quick read with all the feels and I loved both the characters so much. This is a story that can be read by anyone and I loved the underlying message in this story.
Read and reviewed for Sultry Sirens Book Blog.
Happy reading!
This is a sweet coming of age story for anyone who has ever felt “other” at 17.
Hannah and Liam are both high school students and neither of them really “fit” in their respective schools. A chance meeting leads to a night to remember.
This is a quick read and a sweet one, so perfect for audiences of all ages. I liked both Liam and Hannah and enjoyed seeing them getting to know each other. This is one of those stories where I was happy with how things ended, but really wanted to know more.
It has been a while since I read a Katy Regnery story or in this case, Callie Henry. This is a seriously sweet insta-love romance. Hannah is extremely relatable. I think this would be the perfect book for many girls coming of age. There’s so many personal issues and struggles you have as a teenager and Hannah would be a great role model. Liam is just as sweet. While they both have some issues and struggle, they seemed to have just clicked together. I just adored how Liam saw Hannah. Not everything in life is based on looks and he was just so amazing with how he thought of her. I really think every woman and girl alike has a bit of Hannah inside them. It’s a struggle to stay confident.
I’m just thrilled with this story. I love the thought process behind this story. It’s sweet and real and pulled me in. I knew it was going to be more of a coming of age story and don’t normally read them but I was intrigued by the synopsis and I’m so happy I read this. It made me want to reevaluate how I think of myself. Callie Henry, or Ms. Katy Regnery, created such an emotionally-charged story. I’m beyond giddy to see that this is going to be a series. A series I am going to earmark for my 9 year old to read in the next 5 years.
My only real complaint would be the timeframe covered in the story. We didn’t get much of the characters real life. We mostly got the wedding story. I just wish we had more. A wedding is when you see everyone at their best. I struggled with the quickness of the feelings but immediately thought back to my teenage years. I remember how everything just FELT. All the emotions are so vivid and strong during those teenage years so I can totally get Liam and Hannah jumping right in.
I received an ARC of this book with the hope that I would leave an Unbiased Opinion. I was not required to leave a review, positive or otherwise, and my opinions are just that… my opinions.
I love YA; I feel like young adult books often have a stronger voice on social issues and all the things we as adults are often scared to talk about. A Date for Hannah touched on a couple of those issues gracefully, and I was impressed by Kary Regnery’s – writing as Callie Henry – foray into YA. This was quite a short book, I don’t have a word count, but I’d venture to guess it’s novella length and was a fun way to lose myself for an hour or so.
A Date for Hannah was such a sweet YA romance, one that is appropriate for teenagers and sends a fantastic message to girls who live in a society where everyone is telling them boys only like skinny, modelesque figures. Hannah struggled with seeing herself as anything but ‘the fat girl,’ but there was an entire world of people who saw her beauty, appreciated her for her curves, and knew that what was actually important went beyond skin deep.
Hannah was guarded; life had taught her – in myriad ways – to be leery of people and love. It showed her that kids could be cruel, love isn’t always true, and adults sometimes project their issues onto innocent children. Liam, while he had every reason to be the same way, was much more open and vulnerable. He had precisely the demeanor and patience Hannah needed to learn to accept herself, flaws and all, and start dismantling the walls she’d built around herself. They were adorable together, and he was so good for and to her, while she had the kindness and compassion he needed to see he was more than a product of his worst choices. I loved the way they were together.
My only wish for this book is that it had been longer, dug a little deeper. I have a pretty high bar set for YA, and A Date for Hannah skimmed that bar with its fingertips but didn’t quite reach it. Had it delved a little deeper into Hannah’s body image issues, Liam’s past, and really captured the circumstances and fallout of those issues this book could have been a spectacular novel.
A Date For Hannah is a tale that can appeal to anyone. Self image struggles are a cross we all must bear. No matter the age or color, there is a Hannah inside us all struggling to break free. Liam is a representation of the beauty we all possess, but have trouble seeing. A beautiful story that’s universally relatable as well as irresistible is always a winner in my eyes.
