A Curse, a Coven and a Canine: Spellbound Hound Magic and Mystery Book 2 by Jeannie Wycherley is a wonderful story to read. This is book number two in this wonderful series and I can not wait to see what comes next. I highly recommend this story to everyone who loves reading about cozy mysteries and fantasy.

Our hero is a dog, literally. A dog who can smell death and is actually hexed. When the neighbor is attacked, our hero must join his witch in the hunt for the culprit, but the results may strike closer to home than they like.
This is book two in the series and it works just fine as a standalone. All the essentials are laid out pretty quickly.
This is a cozy mystery with a strong dose of the paranormal (witchy stuff). I am a huge fan of the Wonky Inn series and this one has the same traits of a well crafted mystery sprinkled with lots of humor and bizarre characters. The story is well written and the characters are lovingly described so that they come to life off the page, helping to bring the entire plot to a boil. I am sorry that I missed the first book, but equally happy that I found this one, which I thoroughly enjoyed. Looks like I have some catching up to do!
Highly recommended.

Totally kept me turning the pages! Toby is really growing in his powers and abilities. It made the book even more enjoyable than it already was! And bringing in a bit of the Wonky Inn was genius! I’m ready for book three!

A Curse, a coven and a canine is the second book in this series.
I laughed all the way through this book. It was a very entertain read.
This book continues off where Toby and Clarissa were searching for the woman who killed Big Joe. Tody is a hound dog who became an orphan dog after his owner was killed. Now the killer is back, and she is after Clarissa’s next door neighbor. If she is killed then Toby will have no one to give him treats everyday.
Will Toby and Clarissa find the killer before it is too late?

OH NO!!!!! No more cheesy treats! Disaster!
Poor Toby. (HI TOBY!) Toby finds the creator and giver of his cheesy treats hurt, maybe dead. Worse he can smell the Pointy Lady was there. She means trouble.
LOVE ALL THE REFENCES TO KEEPING NATURE HEALTHY!!!!!!!! PAY ATTENTION WORLD!!!!!!!!!
This all leads to the next book in this wonderful new sereis by the author. Lots of stuff happening is this book. Is Toby getting smarter? Why couldn’t he communicate with Old Joe – I have my theory, what is yours? The next door neighbor – really? The squirrel community, just too real and funny, and their friendly witch. And last but not least the Pointy Lady. Is she who she appears to be – I have a theory about her too.
Don’t know what I am talking about? Read the book, no read the series and understand what is going on. Then tell me what your theories are. You will enjoy this cozy mystery series. Guaranteed!!!!
Can I have book three now. Dying to know if on the right track!!!!!
This is my honest and freely given review. I did receive an ARC book.
Sorry about lateness of review.
What’s a guy – I mean a hound dog – to do? That’s the dilemma facing Toby, a human cursed by a witch, Matilda Dervish, to become a (talking) dog in Book 1, which he must now face again in an attempt to discover the truth about her evil deeds and to make her reverse her curse, that has trapped him on all fours. This time the wicked witch’s victim is Mrs Crouch, a hedge witch neighbour of Toby’s ‘human’ Clarissa, beloved for her kind habit of feeding him with his favourite doggy treats on ‘demand’.
Beaten magically and physically and left for dead in a coma, poor Mrs Crouch seems unlikely to be able to bear witness against her assailant, leaving Toby and Clarissa to turn sleuth.
Can they prove Matilda Dervish’s guilt in the attack? Will Toby ever regain his human form?
Continuing on from Book 1, (You Ain’t Nothing But a Pound Dog), Jeannie Wycherley’s successes continue unrestrained in A Curse, a Coven and a Canine, Book 2 in her incredibly entertaining A Paranormal Animal Cozy Mystery, (Spellbound Hound Magic and Mystery) series. Don’t miss it!

The second book is every bit as enchanting as the first.
I fell in love with Toby in the first book and it grew deeper with this one! He and Clarissa make a great pair of burgeoning detectives. In this book they are trying to find out what happened to their friend and next door neighbor, the elderly Mrs. Crouch, to land her in the hospital in a coma. Toby senses that the mysterious Miranda had something to do with it so he and Clarissa set out to discover what that was. Of course, like last time, obstacles are put in their path and they are thwarted every time they uncover any information. Toby and Clarissa are both getting stronger and developing new powers that, hopefully, will aid in their mission to stop the evil forces that are trying to stop them. Are their new friends just that, or something else entirely?
I loved the addition of new characters and locations, the author makes you feel like you’re right there in the action. She has a great way of increasing the intrigue and building the suspense which will keep your attention right to the end and longing for the next book in the series! I highly recommend this book.

Highly entertaining, Fun, laugh out loud and witty adventure filled with engaging charters, witty dialog, heart racing twists and emotionally thrilling turns. Really enjoyed this fun and mysterious adventure!
Clarissa had inherited a house and a dog from her grandfather, who died under mysterious circumstances. According to the dog – who can speak – he was killed by a spell from a witch. Same witch has now attacked the neighbour, another witch, and Clarissa finds that she not only lost her job suddenly, without a reason, she is also kicked out of her coven.
This book is about Clarissa fighting back,, not only to get her positions back, but also to stop a murderous witch from doing more harm.
A cozy mystery with a touch of magic, some quite funny characters, and a dog with a character bring a few hours of entertainment.
This is the second book in the series. It might be difficult to understand the story, if you have not read the previous book first.

Oh what a fantastic read, we learn more about Clarissa’s earlier life as well as meet new friends (hopefully) and most of all learn more of the stone that The Pointy Woman was after and oh my I did not expect what I learnt!! Toby and Clarissa have lots on and there are plenty of road blocks appearing in their way but these 2 are smart cookies and I have a feeling no matter who tries to get in their way team work and a few surprises will help them see things to the end!!!

This is the second book in the Spellbound Hound series and will make more sense if you read book 1 first. Toby and Clarissa are hot on the trail of The Pointy Woman with some interesting and twisty side trips. The book is well written and kept my attention right to the end. I also liked the crossover nod to the Wonky storyline; I hope there is more of that coming. And only in a book will anyone get magical help from a squirrel!

I really enjoyed this cozy mystery. This is book 2 of the series and I found it very well written and interesting. I enjoy the characters and they are well written and developed. I recommend reading.

The Magic and Oddities Increase
Oh, what a great episode! This series really needs to be read in order. This episode ends in a bit of a cliffhanger, but the story needs to continue as the storyline became very complicated in this book. I so enjoy this author’s writing. She weaves a complicated story into a beautiful masterpiece every time. This is not your everyday witch mystery. I received this ARC book for free from Booksprouts and this is my honest review.
Clarissa Page’s grandfather, Joseph Silverwind (“Old Joe”), had been murdered by Miranda Dervish (“The Pointy Woman”) before Clarissa had known about him. It looked now like Miranda Dervish is back and up to her same treacherous ways. Someone has attacked Toby’s elderly neighbor, Mrs. Crouch. Toby said he hadn’t known Mrs. Crouch was still alive when the paramedics took her because he smelled death – AND scented The Pointy Woman! It was obvious to them that Miranda had been involved. What was she after from Mrs. Crouch? Will she come back and go after Mrs. Crouch again?
As Clarissa and Toby begin to investigate, they are offered help from some eccentric sources: The Blackdown Hills Squirrel Community, and a witch who happens to live in a hedge. Will they find Miranda? Will they discover what brought her back to town?
This is the second book in this cozy that stars a talking dog! The story line is good and Toby the Spellbound Hound is an active part of the investigation with Clarissa. Grab your copy and see if they can stop the dangerous evil witch this time or end up with only more trouble!
A Curse, A Coven and a Canine #2 – This story picks up the old storylines while blending in the new. The characters are developing, the intrigue is mounting and the suspense is building. I love that one of my favorite characters from the Wonky Inn Series plays a substantial role. Mable is a lovely character and more talking animals join in the foray.
While not a cliffhanger, the next book is set up. I didn’t put it down until I finished the last page; then I ran for the Ladies. The talented author’s storytelling with her vivid descriptions along with her intelligent characters and dialog make this well thought out story had to put down. Lovers of the Wonky will enjoy this series, too. I contacted the author to review her books and received this book through Booksprout. 4*
Spellbound Hound Magic and Mystery Series:
Ain’t Nothing but a Pound Dog #1 – What a fun book, after you get past the sad start. The storylines are intriguing and I see where this will be an interesting, entertaining and witch-filled series. I enjoy the rapport between the granddaughter and the spellbound dog. Their actions, dialog and love for each could not be better written. I do picture the Pointy Woman as the Wicked Witch of the West; my interpretation, no flying monkeys mentioned. I do like that Toby is not a smart mouth but a sweet, intelligent dog. The police officer is a lovely addition to the characters and I find him very likeable. Plenty of emotion, humor and intrigue, the perfect mix to keep the reader immersed in the pages. Sadly, the book does end but book two is coming out soon. No cliffhanger, just a continuation of a series similar to the Wonky Inn Series. 5*
Spellbound Hound Magic and Mystery Series end.
Midnight Garden – What an intriguing story, which I would expect to find on the original Twilight Zone of The Sixties. I could not put this book down; it had my imagination spinning throughout all sorts of scenarios trying to figure out what would happen. I did get a part of it correct, but there was one thing that did not cross my mind at all, the root of all their misery. Well written and quickly read with some messed up characters that either attracted or repulsed depending on the scene. A dark suspense story that is difficult to put down. Do not expect the same genre as the Wonky Inn Series, they are not as dark and do contain humor. 5*
Wonky Inn Series.
The Wonkiest Witch: Wonky Inn Book #1 – This is my first read by this author and I enjoyed the story. As I became wrapped up in the pages, I started enjoying the storylines and the characters and wondering how much witch Alf would become. Since I’ve been reading about witches a lot lately, I get bored when I come across another witch refusing to be herself. Why deny what you are; do you give yourself a lobotomy if you’re intelligent and want to dumb down to normal? One of my role models, as a kid, was Samantha Stevens, she remained true to herself, and an independent woman, regardless of her silly husband’s demands; unlike Jeannie, a beautiful, two-legged Labrador (eager to please her master). Ms. Wycherley’s writing style is conversational and casual. The likable and interesting characters are developing at a good rate and will probably gain more depth as the series continues. The storylines do a good job setting the foundation from which the series will build. Once the intros are made there’s plenty of intrigue and suspense. A fire opens a can of troubles bringing the witch in Alf to full acceptance. A unique use of ghosts, which I’ve never read. I’m curious about the rest of the stories. 4*
The Ghosts of Wonky Inn #2 – As much as I liked the first book, I loved this one. I absolutely love the ghosts and what they can actually do. This is one of the things I love about this series; plus the fact that the witch uses magic instead of denying who she is. The variety of ghostly characters are great. I couldn’t put the book down, I was so immersed in the fast paced, funny and intriguing storylines. The characters range in personalities, eras and locations, lending the story depth and substance. I wish all the books of the series had already been published so I could chain read them. 5*
Wonky Inn Series, there are more reviews, I have read them all.
And the plot thickens! Wow! I never saw any of this coming! Toby is certainly a remarkable dog and Clarissa is quite the interesting witch! I loved reading this so much that my only complaint is that it ended! I can’t wait to read the next book! Fantastic!
Spend a long, family-friendly afternoon with Clarissa Page and Toby, the spell-bound hound, as they venture from Sun Valley to Temperance House (formerly Quaker, now under the Coven of the Silver Wands) in Durscombe, East Devon, with side trips to Abbotts Cromleigh to see Mister Kephisto as well as to Ravensbrook Lodge in Somerset.

Toby is a dog who has been hexed by a witch. He is able to talk to witches and animals. The Pointy Woman that killed Old Joe is back and when Toby’s neighbor Mrs Crouch is found injured by Toby and Clarissa, the pointy woman’s scent is at the scene. Really great read, I really enjoyed it. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
