He wanted to be left in peace… divided among his foster brothers and his mentor’s daughter, Tara Rawlings, the fragile future he’s built for himself is threatened.
She wanted to be free of her past…
Tara Rawlings swore she’d never end up with someone like her father, a man completely focused on the ranch to the exclusion of his loved ones. She created a new life for herself in San Francisco, running an interior design company and getting married, then divorced. When she returns to settle her father’s estate, she finds that her birthright is in jeopardy. And the only way to save it is to work with West Morgan, the one man she has always resented—and always found irresistible.
Can they save the ranch without killing each other … or falling in love?

West thought he knew what would happen when the man he considered a farther died and that was the farm he and his foster brothers had poured their blood, sweet and tears into but no Douglas had other ideas. Now Tara is back at her dads ranch and having to deal with not only her dad passing but also West and a job that is driving her nuts. All sorts of sparks fly as everyone on the ranch soon learns the life they led may not have been as good as it gets and self reflection is needed in order to move on. This is a heart warming, sweet and sad read that leaves you feeling happy and content as well as wanting to know what happens to the other brothers!!
Partial redemption for Tara. The heroine is a major PIA most of the book. She was selfish in her approach and thoughts. I had a major problem with her and her attitude. She thought she should own a ranch she grew up on and left eons ago and rarely visited. From day one her thoughts were to sell, sell., sell!
She acted madder than a wet hen after the will was read. She was rather deceitful running to a lawyer secretly and not divulging her divorce and giving false impressions. She whines about her heritage and legacy, but all she wants is to sell and go back home!!! West was selfless to the point of his own pain and loss in favor of Tara. I think it was the motivation Tara needed to start being really honest with herself and others! I see West as a self sacrificing God of a man, and Tara was lucky to have been with him! I loved that character hard! One click to see how it turns out. I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book and am giving an honest unbiased review.
Megan Ryder shows us that sometimes working too hard to be successful can be detrimental to life-long happiness. While tracking his late father’s loss of a person he loved, the son was about to make the same mistake…. except a puzzle helps him realize the errors of his ways. great teacher … great book.
When I started reading this book couldn’t hardly stop love it
A Great Story
Tara had felt left out of her father’s life after her mom died, she did her schooling and other things, but now still in San Francisco and finding out her dad just died. West was one of the troubled teens her dad took in . They have to see if they can work it out.
Interesting story line
Good book with a different plot line than usual romantic novels. There was some “raunchy” language. Still a good read.
I loved this book
It kept you absorbed. A page turner that made you hate to put it down. You get to understand life on a cattle ranch. The commitment to the cows, ranch, and their friends and family. The men have great respect for their life and women. It ended as you hoped, but getting through all the twists and turns kept you on your toes. A very good read. Not to be forgotten soon.
Wonderful book and series. Great, colorful characters. Loved them all!
