I have been thoroughly enjoying Karen Rock’s Rocky Mountain Cowboys series. In the newest installment, A Cowboy’s Pride, the focus shifts from the Cades to their rival family—the Lovelands. Cole has been hanging around, making those Cade men jealous, a few times. Now it’s his turn in the hot seat (or maybe I should say his turn in the saddle).
As Cole and Katie-Lynn (his former fiancée) dig into the Cade-Loveland feud and subsequent loss of Cora’s tear, they uncover much more than they anticipated. While working together, they quickly discover their attraction for each other hasn’t faded but has anything changed? There were valid reasons they broke it off to begin with.
Rock builds plenty of tension, fans the flames of the rivalry we’ve come to love between the Cades and Lovelands, oozes plenty of cowboy bravado, and throws in some make-you-melt kissing scenes! All while weaving a mystery of what firmly drew the line between the Cade and Loveland families. And did I mention this is leading up to the marriage that will unite these two families?
Another fabulous, couldn’t put it down read from Rock

I bow down to you MS Rock you have pulled at my heart-strings you have made me tear up and made me smile in this fabulous addition to this series, and what a well suited tile, this describes Cole Loveland so well, and what he goes through to get the love of his life, his soul mate, the other half of him Katlynn Brennon back in his life.
Cole Loveland is the eldest Loveland, stubborn to a fault, honest, loyal and will do anything for his family and the people he loves a true Loveland but what he has gone through after he lost his mother has left him pretty much a hermit, he and his family are still in a feud that is over a hundred years old with neighbours The Cades and things are going to get a bit stressful for Cole as the woman he loves has arrived back in Carbondale to do a story on the feud, it has been twelve years since she left and his heart still belongs to Katlynn, but he is still very stubborn.
Katlynn Brennon comes from a large family and always felt unnoticed, invisible to her family, but her first love Cole Loveland meant so much to her, they were childhood sweethearts, and she was there for him and his family through the worst times, but when planning their marriage they could not agree, both wanted very different things, Cole is so stubborn and she ran, now she is a hosts a major TV show researching scandalous history and is asked to research the old Cade Loveland feud. This is going to be hard for Katlynn going back to her home town and getting close to Cole again the man that will always be her love.
This is a beautiful story, a story filled with emotion and heart-ache but so much joy as well, when some stubborn people learn to compromise and above all else trust in their feelings and their hearts then joy will bloom. I loved Cole what a hero and Katlynn she is so strong and understanding she is a rock a true heroine to match the hero. There was so much uncovered in this story about the feud and the lives of past Lovelands and Cades, I could barely put the book down, this is one that I highly recommend thank you MS Rock for another keeper, can’t wait till the next one
A COWBOY’S PRIDE by Karen Rock
Once again Karen Rock has delivered us an emotionally charged, page turning chapter in the Rocky Mountain Cowboys series. She has us seeing the Loveland – Cade feud from both sides making it extremely hard to decide on which side of the fence to hang on. Through the pages of A COWBOY’S PRIDE, we explore how the feud originated and how love, family and perseverance come through with details to explain it all and possibly a resolution to bring both families together as one.
A COWBOY’S PRIDE is a story of finding resolve to past grudges, finding peace with one’s past and present and of second chance love. Karen Rock does all this within the pages of the book with great skill that has you visually seeing the story as you read it, understanding how both Cole and Katie-Lynn feel and pulling for more than one marriage to take place.
Katlynn Brennon, originally called Katie-Lynn, must return to her hometown – Carbondale, Colorado – to find an extraordinary story to save her show, Scandalous History, from being cancelled. Cancellation of the show would end not only her job, but also leave her once again doubting her purpose or importance in life. She would be a nobody, an unknown again. Would the Loveland – Cade feud be the ticket? Could she survive being in the same town with her ex-fiancee?
Back to her hometown, she finds herself not only in the same town but teamed up with her first and only love, Cole Loveland. The feeling she had for him have not faded with age as it seems he’s hadn’t either. As she gets comfortable in her skin again and who she is without all the makeup and hype, she also realizes that the feelings she had about her family and her unimportance were inaccurate and leaves her doubting her choices in life. Could here be hope for a rekindled relationship? Could they each give and take this time round or would it just be a repeat of the past? This book handles it all with page turning emotional excitement that will have you laughing, crying, hooting and hollering, getting angry, feeling goosebumps and smiling.
Even though this is the 4th book in the Rocky Mountain Cowboys series, it can definitely be read as a standalone. I will say, once you read it you will be running to get the other books in the series and looking with great anticipation to the next installment in the series. I highly recommend this book to anyone that loves a great love story, a book about cowboys with true grit and integrity of family, a story with mystery and intrigue. In other words, if you are looking for a GREAT BOOK, look no further than A COWBOY’S PRIDE by Karen Rock.
This is the 4th book of the series and a great one! I loved Cole right away but I wasn’t too sure of Katlynn right away, she grew on me. Even though Cole & Katlynn had been apart for so many years, they still had their chemistry. It was interesting reading about them communicating with each other, especially with Cole trying to figure out if he should & could trust her again after she chose her career over him before.
I give this a dynamite full 5 stars! You will need a lot of caffeine to stay awake and read Karen Rock’s newest A Cowboy’s Pride! This is such a phenomenal tale and I immediately fell in love with the H, Cole and his strong but so sweet and very romantic personality. Also our h, Katlynn is a gutsy character with a lot of charisma! I really enjoyed this tale and if you’re looking for a good, sweet romance then this is the book for you! This was my first book of Karen Rock’s and I am not a big fan and will be looking for more of her books to read! I’d highly recommend A Cowboy’s Pride!
4 1/2 STARS!
Old feelings and old mysteries collide as two childhood sweethearts reunite and band together to learn the truth about his family history. Discoveries they never expected lead them down a path of danger and insight. Can Cole truly trust her to do what’s best for his family, or will her ambition win out against her feelings for him yet again? Delving deeper into the Loveland side of this feud lets us get to know the family better since the series so far had centered around the Cade’s. I enjoyed how well the Cades were still brought into the storyline of this family as well. An enjoyable plot, great characters and a satisfying mystery kept me enthralled throughout!
Katlynn Brennon left Carbondale, Colorado a dozen years ago … naive, broken-hearted and living only for her dreams. Now, after achieving great success, she’s on the verge of having her TV show cancelled and struggling to keep it all together. She never thought she’d be returning home to Carbondale, but when the infamous Cade-Loveland feud strikes the fancy of her producers as the great mystery that might save their show, she finds herself smack dab in the middle of her old life again.
Cole Loveland already feels like Katie-Lynn did him wrong by choosing her career over their future together all those years ago, and now here she comes waltzing back into town determined to stir up an ugly past that his family just might not live down. He’ll do anything to keep his family secure … even agree to work with her to solve the mystery of the start of the big feud between the Cade’s and his ancestors. Fighting the feelings that still fly when they’re in the same vicinity might be a tough road to travel though!
4.5 Stars!
This 4th book in the Rocky Mountain Cowboys series moves from a Cade sibling to a Loveland and the feud continues. While I can nearly always rely on a poignant romance when reading this author’s work, this story had a mystery that amped up my page-turning fervor. Having learned of some of the reasons behind the Cade/Loveland feud from previous books, A Cowboy’s Pride finally reveals the whole story. As always the romance was enjoyable and Cade and Katie Lynn were wonderful characters, but the mystery was a fun and creative diversion. With a mystery solved, a wedding restored, and a second chance romance reclaimed, this could have been the book to end the series on. Thanks goodness we have more Cade and Loveland siblings to set our sights on.
So worth the wait!
I was so excited to finally read about a Loveland. This 2nd chance romance for Cole and Katie-Lyn does not disappoint when Katie-Lyn makes her way back to Colorado on assignment after 10 years.
A wake-up call in the romance department for these two, along with Cole’s Dad, Boyd and Joy Cade, Mother to the Cades we’ve already met.
The background story that’s been brewing is very much front and center in this book involving a long ago love and Cora’s Tear, a beautiful sapphire owned by a Cade and stolen by a Loveland or that’s how the story goes anyway.
Ms Rock knows how to engage the reader with suspense, intrigue and a plot that will keep you hooked until the end, along with a beautiful ending to a great romance.
A stand alone, clean, contemporary read.
I received an ARC via Netgalley and am freely giving my honest review of A Cowboy’s Pride
Loved it. I received a free copy of this book
A Cowboy’s Pride is the latest installment in Karen Rock’s Rocky Mountain Cowboy’s series. Rock brings both heart and humor to this novel. Cole and Katlynn are both flawed, believable characters that need to figure out how to compromise. Rock doesn’t short change either of their journey’s as they each figure out what matters and what they are willing to give up to be together. This book is also filled with lots of juicy subplots. Boyd and Joy get married; readers knew that wasn’t going to be an easy road. The Cole/Loveland feud is explained; the truth is both believable and perfect for the series.
I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this novel.
