This is the last book in the McGavin Brothers series. Zoe Bradford is pregnant and travels to Eagles Nest Montana for the holidays to think about her future. Zoe meets Seth Turner of the McGavin family and Zoe has no plans to be romantically involved with Seth. But Seth has other plans and tries to win her heart and be the perfect cowboy daddy to Zoe’s unborn child. I really enjoyed reading this contemporary Western romance novel. I received this free book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Perfect final book in an awesome series! VLT has the best cowboys in her books. She makes you fall in love with ALL her characters and the town. You really hate to have to leave them all but I’m looking forward to whatever she writes next.
It’s with cheers and tears that this wonderful series has now ended. I have so many mixed emotions about these stories and this final cowboy wrangler that worked his way into my heart as he did the entire McGavin family that he never knew he had. The writing is fabulous; the story-line is warm and cozy; and, Eagles Nest, Montana, is still a place I want to visit if I can’t live there. When two near strangers, Seth and Zoe, meet, decide tonight is the night to explore and head upstairs, I had to smile. The author wrote about the awkward moments of newness and the sensual scene itself and I laughed. You have to read this book to catch all the wonder of the holidays that happen in a bar, on horseback and around the fireplace. Included is even the chance to drive in the snow and build a snowman. This is an adult read and I feel good about the final chapter. Hugs to the little toddlers and Dads playing in snow and all it’s glory.
Love Seth, he is courageous, respectful, considerate, so compassionate and straight-forward. Love Zoe too, she is very independent, focused and strong, kinda reminds me of Kendra’s traits a bit. I love that they are mature about their situation, quickly bond and bold enough to articulate openly. In spite of their well-thought out plans for the separate futures, love “warts and all” can be a game plan changer. Such a great series, I have loved every single moment I’ve spent saddling up in Eagle’s Nest and riding through the many phrases of the lives of this family and community. Love these cowboys & their solid rock mother. (Yay, Kendra!!!) Highly recommend this series, sad to see it come to end but author has done an outstanding job allowing the readers to fall in love with & right along with the McGavins brothers.
A Cowboy’s Homecoming (The McGavin Brothers Book 17) by Vicki Lewis Thompson Forget 5 stars this last book in the series gets 10 stars…. I hate to have this series end and I am glad we will get to revisit it in her new series. I read this in one day and will go back and read it and the series again. I have said many times I want to move to Eagles Nest and I mean it. This book has all the feelings and steam and old friends and family needed to make it wonderful. THANK YOU …Vicki Lewis Thompson.
The final McGavin book is bittersweet. But as all good things must come to an end, so does this series. Not to worry, Thompson makes sure to take things out with a bang. Long-time readers of the series will be satisfied with the end, while new readers will want to go back and start from the beginning.
I love this series. But alas, this is the 17th and final book. But what a way to bring the entire series to a close. A sweet, sexy, heartwarming story that brings the entire town, and all the characters who now seem more like family, together to celebrate the holiday season. And of course, in one of the starring roles, we get to have fun on several occasions at the Guzzling Grizzly. I’m sad to see this series close, but look forward to the next series, already in the works, and not too far from the town of Eagles Nest, Montana. Enjoy this book and series. I know I did.
Christmas is a lovely holiday, but family makes it so much more delightful. For Seth, family has taken on a whole new meaning since he discovered that he’s part of the McGavin clan. For Zoe, her family is going to get a little larger in a few months and she’s anticipating raising her child alone. This Christmas, Seth and Zoe will discover that a chance meeting can lead to a family they never expected.

What a great way to end this awesome series! I’ve read countless books by many authors over the years, but Vicki Lewis Thompson has written some of my favorites! The McGavin series ranks right up there at the top of the list! I just love the town of Eagles Nest and the residents there. It’s a place that I’d be proud to call home. Seth discovers that he has a connection to the McGavin family after his mother dies and goes to Eagles Nest to try to connect with them. He meets Zoe at the B &B where he stays and falls for her even though she’s pregnant with another man’s child.
This will be a series that I’ll read again. Kudos to Ms Thompson!!
I received an ARC of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Zoe Bradford knows how to shovel ice and let sunshine in. She is a bundle of energy and has a nice round package to hide until her body can’t hide her secret.
Seth Turner notices his life will change as he sets out to meet new and unknown family in Eagle’s Nest. He is very happy to see such a bright, energetic, kind lady greet him as he unloads his bags where he will be staying.
What happens to two temporary visitors in a very warm and charming town? Seth notices Zoe is PG and wonders what the future holds for him… and her. He can’t resist the growing spark that ignites and grows between them.
Meeting the MCGavin and learning how the history of the town has been heavily influenced by such a loving family has Seth growing more and more in love with a world he didn’t know existed and a woman who will only be in it a short while longer.
This is a five star book full of twists and adventure. I gave an honest review in exchange for a copy of this novel. It’s sure to keep you warm and it’s full of holiday spice!
Farewell, Eagle’s Nest, Montana. This a series finale, and Seth, the final cowboy of the McGavin family—who didn’t know his heritage prior to this book—helps end on a sweet note. It’s Christmas, and Seth makes his way to Eagle’s Nest to meet the family he’s only just discovered, via his deceased mother’s diaries of her youth. He expects to meet his aunt and his cousins. He doesn’t also expect that his long lost father will be in town for the holidays!
Seth’s journey from lonely adult-orphan to a family man happens with the satisfying smoothness long-term readers of this series will expect from the McGavin clan. His nerves and his subsequent relief at finding a place to be his home builds naturally. His reliance on Zoe, also a newcomer to Eagle’s Nest, to help him process everything also works well, and helps explain the intensity of their relationship. Unfortunately, Zoe intends to return to her home of Wisconsin once she has her baby; she just needed space from her ex during the pregnancy.
While Zoe and Seth’s chemistry is spot on, and the family relationships are excellent, the arc of Zoe’s decision of whether or not to stay in Eagle’s Nest comes to a very abrupt change of heart. This is probably colored by my dislike for the particular trope of one partner having to give up all their plans to make the happily ever after work. Thompson has handled similar decisions more smoothly in other books (one earlier in the McGavin series!), and I would have loved for Zoe and Seth to have more time to build their relationship and really get to know each other before the climax here. However, the end scene (which I won’t spoil) turns another trope on its head and offers a delightful change of expectation, which almost makes up for the trope I don’t enjoy.
The Eagle’s Nesters are in full form here, and almost every character from earlier in the series gets at least a cameo, if not a larger role. It’s hard to say goodbye to this town, and I hope that, as Thompson promises, we’ll get to keep up with these characters from afar in her next series!
(I received an advance copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.)
This is the final story in this McGavin Brothers series and it did not disappoint. The McGavin characters are wonderful, sexy men, some with a Scottish brogue. The Christmas story was full of hope, tears, laughter, and joy and ended the series in a beautiful love story between Seth and Zoe. I liked the strong elements of family, hope, and new beginnings and I will miss the McGavin brothers. I received an advance copy of this book and I willingly chose to write an honest review.
What a great way to tie up this terrific series! I loved that we got to see little peeks of most of the previous characters in a natural way while still getting plenty of time with Seth and Zoe. That’s a tough balance for an end-of-series book, but this one is just right. I got choked up during the family scenes, and my mouth completely fell up at the last chapter. I didn’t see that coming, but I loved it!
Seth and Zoe are really great characters. Seth is a true gentleman and so thoughtful to the people around him. Zoe is also a considerate person and very nice. But she has a plan in place, and she is afraid to change that just because some guy showed up. I can’t blame her, but Seth is one in a million. I loved every minute of their story.
End of a Beautiful Series.
At the age of thirty one Seth Turner learns who his father is and decides to make contact with his cousins and aunt in Eagles Nest. On arrival he meets Zoe Bradford, who he finds instantly enchanting (and a dab hand with a snow shovel despite her pregnant state) but is thrown off balance when he discovers closer family members are also in town. To go from having no-one to an enormous family like the McGavin clan is not easy, and he is nervous about how he will be received. His life is further thrown by falling for a woman on a temporary visit to Montana who has no intention of changing her plans. Great characters and a sweet story. Eagles Nest will be sorely missed but I look forward to seeing where the author will go now. This book can be read as a standalone.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book from the author. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
I have loved this series and as excited as I am for the next one, I am sad to see this one come to an end. Especially since this story is one of my favorite ones.
Seth Turner is a man on a mission. He was raised by a single mom who he recently lost. Upon finding her diary he discovers he has relatives in Eagle’s Nest.
But before meeting them, he meets a young pregnant woman that enchants him. Zoe Bradford, a yoga studio owner, is spending her pregnancy in Eagle’s Nest helping her aunt run her B & B. Her plans are to have the baby, and return to Wisconsin.
Though the relationship blossoms , there is an end date. Something Seth wants to change. In the meantime, meeting his relatives not only in Eagle’s Nest but those from Scotland has been a life changing experience.
Will these two find their HEA, or will Zoe’s determination to return home break both their hearts?
Lastly, thanks goes to the author for making us feel part of Eagle’s Nest.
I was entrusted a copy of this book. The opinions expressed are solely my own.
Vicki Lewis Thompson, always, writes a fun, romantic, sexy story. A Cowboy’s Homecoming is no exception.
Seth has come to Eagles Nest to meet the family he hadn’t known he had. Zoe has come to Eagles Nest to visit her aunt, during the duration of her pregnancy. Seth and Zoe find an immediate friendship and attraction.
Vicki lets us catch up with the rest of the McGavin clan, plus meet a couple of other members. The joy and acceptance are always a part of a Vicki Lewis Thompson book.
I really Loved this story. Thank you, Vicki.
This was a great ending for this series – for a young man to find out who is dad is after his mom passes is a hard pill to swallow and then to figure out how to remedy the situation and become part of a huge family that you knew nothing about – what a joy to read the road that was followed – very original!! I so enjoyed reading a beta copy, freely leaving this review so maybe others can start with the first book Vicki wrote and read all of them –
