Decisions, decisions…Lawyer or Cowboy life. Love this western romance series! Aleck is great and Tansy makes sure he has the time of his life, lol. Their love story is a perfect example of when losing your passport can be a good thing. Another great addition to the McGavin series which are all always heartwarming, full of love and familial support. I received a copy at no cost and without obligation from the author.
We are back in Eagles Nest with the McGavins whom we have come to love. This time, the story revolves around another of the handsome relatives from Scotland .
Aleck McGavin is visiting to meet his brother’s Rory girlfriend Damaris and also to visit his aunt. Aleck is a lawyer and not a cowboy but here he is working and helping on the ranch.
Oh, and of course, he’s falling hard for Tansy Emerson, the local bar’s bartender.
Of course fate intervenes and between some angst and humor, will they be able to find their HEA?
Another entertaining story in this delightful series.
I was entrusted a copy of this book. The opinions expressed are solely my own.
A Cowboy’s Destiny (The McGavin Brothers Book 15) by Vicki Lewis Thompson .. Being a part of Vicki’s “Fairy Dust Sprinklers” is such an honor. The MCGAVIN BROTHERS is one of my favorite series and this book did not disappoint. Beside getting to get updates on all of the wonderful characters from previous books… and meeting Rhys… Aleck and Tansy’s story “love at first sight romance” was such fun.. Cowboys have always been a favorite of mine …but then you add the Scotland influence and you have me. Lots of laughs, love, a few tears, and steam all lead to another very HEA. (I will say again “tadger” is one of my new favorite words). I am looking forward to Raven (Arron Donahue and Caitlin Dempsey’s story…
A Cowboy’s Destiny, the latest McGavin Brothers by Vicki Lewis Thompson is the perfect 4th of July book. I love visiting Eagle’s Nest for 4th of July. The little town always throws out all the stops and does it up right with parades and singing and usually there is a little romance thrown in. Thompson draws out the slow build between Tansy and Aleck, well as slow as it can be with a four day window. The rest of the McGavin clan make appearances that will delight long-time readers of the series. If you haven’t gotten your 4th of July fill, here’s your chance.
I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this novel.
It’s hard to believe we have The McGavin Brothers Book 15 already. This time it is “ A Cowboy’s Destiny” and that cowboy happens to be Scottish. Of course we are in Montana but that is only logistics. This author has a way of making us smile, feel great and enjoy a wonderful story. What more could a fan want than a book about a guy from Scotland learning to ride a horse, plays the bagpipes, wears a kilt, and, finds someone to love. The sensual scenes are perfect, the lines of Scottish brogue are great and I loved it.
Whether you believe in love at first sight, or not, it’s worth reading A Cowboy’s Destiny to catch up with your favorite Montana family, their Scottish cousin and the girl who steals his heart. It was such a joy to read about Aleck and his Tansy-girl.
I read an advanced copy of this book
Kilted Bagpiping Scot
Aleck comes from Scotland to visit his brother and meet his girlfriend. Due to work issues he can only manage four days in Eagles Nest but in that time he falls in love and gives up his career, family and home in Scotland. Highly romantic (if a little far-fetched). Can be read as a standalone.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book from the author. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
When Aleck McGavin arrives in Montana, he has no plans to wear a Stetson or cowboy boots. He’s a Scotsman and he intends to stay that way. But his brother, Rory, now turned cowboy, insists Aleck blend in with the towns folk. Aleck gives in to the new attire and walks in the Guzzlin Grizzly to meet the pretty bartender, Tansy Emerson, and she can’t believe her eyes.
Aleck and Tansy hit it off, causing sparks to fly and returning to Scotland becomes much less appealing. The man is known for weighing his options and not making a split decision, but when fate deals him another hand, he decides his life needs some changes.
This wonderful McGavin story will make you smile and maybe bring a tear to your eye, but you will love it!
Fourth of July at Eagle’s Nest is pure barry—that is, if you’re using Scottish slang like the novel’s hero Aleck McGavin. In this fifteenth series entry, it can be hard to keep all the McGavin’s straight, but this second Scottish cousin to visit the United States holds his own (while also including so many of the characters series followers know and love).
Aleck is visiting Eagle’s Nest just to see his beloved brother, who moved to Eagle’s Nest in the previous book. But Eagle’s Nest starts to work its magic on the logical, lawyer brother, primarily in the form of Tansy, a loveable bartender at the Guzzling Grizzly. (And really, it’s about time Tansy got her own book! The Boston transplant has deserved a good match for books now!) Aleck had always believed love at first sight was a myth, but he and Tansy fall for each other hard. They’re both mature enough to know that this might be a temporary thing, and they’re going to enjoy it while it lasts. There’s a wonderful lack of quarrelling between the two—there’s no big conflict that hits in the middle for them to overcome. Instead, the conflict is set up at the beginning, and Thompson does an excellent job of setting up a believable realization for her hero that isn’t entirely “I do it all for love” scenario. Instead, there’s some self-realization and a greater understanding of personal happiness that come into play. (There are also dancing bears, floats with bird costumes, talkative horses, and family milestones as rewards for long-time series readers!)
While Thompson does drop a hint early on about a possibility for a career shift for one of the characters (two local groups could really use business managers!), that ball never gets picked back up. It’s a shame, because I was curious to see where that line of thought was headed, and if it wasn’t the right job for these heroes, I hope she’ll pick it up in a future novel. In the meantime, this was another fun entry in the series, with lots of familiar faces that won’t overwhelm readers picking this up as a standalone.
I received an advanced copy of this novel in exchange for an honest review.
I have been really excited for Aleck’s book. I liked the glimpses we got of him in the previous book because he was so supportive of Rory. Rory shoves Aleck right into the cowboy deep end from the very beginning, but Aleck takes it all in stride. I was impressed with how well he handled the craziness that was going on when he arrived at Wild Creek Ranch. He plays the bagpipes! That was an intensely moving scene, and I teared up a little during it.
I will say this for Tansy — she knows a good thing when she sees it. She realizes that Aleck is not as uptight as she was expecting, and she appreciates his love of family. I loved the way she teased him and encouraged him to try new things. She even teaches him about double-dog dares! She and Aleck are a fun couple who fit in perfectly with the other couples in this series.
There are also lots of glimpses of previous couples (and the horses — Winston!) in this book. Their happenings provide the canvas that Tansy and Aleck’s story is painted on, and I thought that made everything even better. I love this town, and I feel like I know everyone in it.
At the end of the book, we get a little teaser of which couple is next. I got really excited because I was hoping for the heroine to get a book of her own. Mostly, though, it was because it is going to involve Badger, and I love him! The set-up sounds really funny, and I can’t wait to see what happens.
Vicki Lewis Thompson knows how to write romance! I absolutely love her heroes and heroines! One of my favorite series is the McGavin series. Eagle’s Nest feels like a real place to me and the characters there are like friends. I look forward to reading each new story in the series.
This story is about Aleck and Tansy. Aleck is Rory’s brother from Scotland and they’re cousins to the McGavins in Eagle’s Nest. One of my favorite things is that Aleck plays bagpipes. I love hearing them.
There’s great chemistry between Aleck and Tansy. It’s awesome that the characters from previous books in the series are in the book, too. It’s like catching up with old friends!
I recommend this book, as well as the entire series!
Here comes a new Scottish lawyer and his name is Aleck McGavin and he’s coming to town, Eagle’s Nest that is. He hung out with his brother Rory, met his wonderful girlfriend who adores Rory! He’s happy for his brother with his budding, amazing love.
What Alex doesn’t expect is to meet Tansy Emerson. When first seeing these two, it doesn’t seem like the type of anything compatible one would see together. He’s a very stereotypical looking lawyer and she dropped out of Harvard Law. He looks so serious and very square and Tansy has pink streaks in her hair. They have an undeniable deep passion for each other that anyone could see and that defies the many obstacles!
During this short vacation, the romance intensifies. Aleck’s career can’t just be relocated like his heart has. His love life and career have bumped heads and he knows who always wins. Will Aleck make a decision he’ll never regret?
As a plus, so many characters we have grown to love show up in this new novel! Having such a good looking pair once again had blown my happy lid and have me overpouring with joy! Thank you, Vicki Lewis-Thompson for this international love that is 5 stars through and through! I gave an honest review in exchange for a juicy copy of this novel!
