I enjoyed this book. It was a change from J.D. Robb Murder Mysteries and Jack Reacher novels. The story was an entertaining and sweet love story with believable characters.
Colorado rancher Sam has come to New York City to deliver a bunch of the finest Christmas trees to ever grace the big apple. With his Stetson on his head, he takes on the city and experiences all he can before he has to go back to the family farm at the end of the season. But he thinks he might want to stay in the city a bit longer when he meets Nicole.
Nicole has the brisk ways and fast fast talking nature needed in her line of work–designing and managing renovations. When a workplace accident leaves her one man short, Sam ends in being perfect for the job. He’s got that old school charm she can’t help but admire and his honest ways melt her heart. But there’s a sadness in her life she can’t quite shake, no matter how hard Sam tries to help her.
Janet Dailey is one of those romance authors that always promises a sweet read, and she didn’t disappoint with this book. While Sam spent money like it was his job, while constantly saying he was in NYC to boost his bank account, he was charming and adorably “American” in that rustic way that made you long for your own Christmas cowboy. It took me a bit longer to warm up to Nicole, but when you hear about her past, you begin to understand her struggle. The book was clean, but I wasn’t missing the sex, since the romance was so satisfying. Overall, the book was cute, fun, and perfect for reading beside your tree.
I read this a long time ago, but I don’t believe it is too dated. It is a warm, loving Christmas story about sharing, caring, and finding love when it is right in front of you.
This a great story. Could not put down. Fabulous!!
Great read.
I’ve always been a fan of Janet Daily, but this book was not up to her standards. I did enjoy the Christmas theme and the characters were well done and believable. Could have been a better read if there had been a well defined antagonist to allow for some suspense.
A fun seasonal read.
Fun read!
Several storylines connected but left unfinished.
Not Janet Daily’s best, but still a good book.
I read this book Jan. 2013. Any book by Janet Daily is an excellent read. She is and was one of my favorite authors.
Didn’t particularly care for this book very boring and repetitive.
Usually love Janet Daily but this way too slow and long
A great read at the holidays – easy reading and a great story line. I wanted it to continue !
This book is about country boy Sam meeting city girl Natalie. Sam is from Colorado. He was chosen by the family to escort the tree to Rockefeller Center. The family remembers when that tree was planted. Natalie is a window designer. Christmas is a busy time of the year. Little did they know that a sign looking for some help, would bring these two together. There is a time limit as Sam is going back to the ranch. A family emergency draws their time short. Both are miserable. Who will be the first to give in? It is a time of meeting new people, of struggles for some and the miracle of Christmas.
I loved reading about your characters and how the story played out. I wonder what a story in reverse would be like to read.
It was a quick-read story for the holidays. I enjoyed it.
Nice holiday story.
