Twelve years ago, equestrian Olympic hopeful Olivia Canaday and her best friend, Jake Lassen, made a pinky-swear promise to reunite at the Big Marietta Fair on her thirtieth birthday and marry each other if they were both still single. But that was before they grew up and went their separate ways.
Now, after a disastrous divorce and a career-changing accident, Olivia limps home, minus her mojo, … her mojo, her courage and her faith in love. She retreats to her parents’ ranch, determined to play it safe, but when ex-Army helicopter pilot Jake Lassen arrives to make good on their promise, he reignites passion and hope, two things Olivia had forgotten existed.
Olivia resolves to keep Jake at arm’s length, even though the memory of his kisses keeps her up at night. She knows better than to let her heart get involved, but Jake is planning for the future. Their future. Can Jake convince her to risk it all one more time and really make this a fair to remember?

Great storyline. Good read!!
I truly enjoyed the writing style, engaging plot and endearing characters in this sweet but spicy story of second chances.
Such a sweet book about a young love lost then regained… about promises made and kept…. about growing up and staying the same.
Both main characters were good friends in high school & then moved on with life. Each has multiple past traumas that affect how they see themselves & the way they view the world. Healing takes time to again move forward. Families for both are supportive & help them move through past pain to permit a future. Good dialogue with characters.
Chew author for me and I do like her writing style.
Well developed characters with an interesting strory line. Always appreciate a series like this one where the reader can really invest in the characters. Can’t wait to see how all the stories end.
loved this book
Barbara Ankrum’s book addresses many personal problems people can have after personal incidents change the life’s direction. While the outcome is almost predictable, the route to the conclusion is not. A very enjoyable read.
Excellent. Beautiful description of communication.
He is recovering from the horrors of war. She is recovering from the horrors of an abusive marriage and disasterous end to her olympic dreams. I had a hard time buying their separation 12 years earlier. But, accepting that it was a really enjoyable story. I did skim the sex scenes.
Very nice story. Enjoyed this book and look forward to reading more stories by this author.
Entertaining – I like the horse themed settings. The characters were interesting and had some depth and personality.
This was an easy read.
A very sweet romantic read!
A really good book. Romantic. It was very inspiring to think two friends could meet again and find love again
Sweet, romantic love story that is proof that people who love each other eventually find their way back to each other.
They were teenage lovers but he left to go into the service and she off to NY where she married the wrong guy. They had agreed years ago that if they were both single on her 30 th birthday they would meetup at the Fair. He showed up but she was on an awful blind date and didn’t see him u til it was too late. She managed to hook up with him later at a bar and there was still a spark. She trained horse riders to compete even tho she no longer rode due to being thrown by her horse.
I really enjoyed this book and characters. I did not want to put it down. It is part of a series but can be read as a stand alone.
