When you see the name Shanna Hatfield on the cover of a book, you normally think of a sweet and funny romance. With her latest release, however, she has delivered a delightful surprise. Still with her trademark humor, Ms. Hatfield shares advice, recipes, and stories from herself as well as ranching and rodeo families to help you celebrate Christmas cowboy-style.
If you are a fan and/or follower of this author, you will enjoy getting a glimpse into how she prepares for Christmas and some of her and Captain Cavedweller’s favorite and not so favorite things. One of the things I liked was reading about families having oyster stew on Christmas Eve like mine. Also, be sure to check out how to make a proper snowman. I was amazed!
This also comes as a beautiful hardcover that you will want to have so it can be pulled out each year to use for the holiday season.
I received a free Kindle copy of this book. I volunteered to read it and write a review.
Update: I received a hardcover edition as a gift from a friend as well.
What a beautiful tribute to family, cowboy way of life, and Christmas traditions.
I thoroughly enjoyed A Cowboys Christmas: Western Celebrations, Recipes, And Christmas Traditions.
Shanna Hatfield is such a gifted and talented Author and she certainly showcases it with this wonderful gift to all her readers and fans.
Funny western stories, Rodeo Cowboys and their families highlighted, fun crafts for any Christmas setting, and mouthwatering recipes.
The recipes had my mouth watering and checking my pantry to see what ingredients I had on hand that I could try now.
Shanna incorporated amazing crafts, many western themed, which fueled my creativity.
This would make the perfect gift to anyone who loves decorating for Christmas or any occasion, and for making family gatherings fun and memorable.
Absolutely the most fabulous book for Christmas I have ever read.
I truly enjoyed reading Shanna Hatfield’s
A Cowboy Christmas: Western Celebrations, Recipes & Traditions.
I’ve looked forward to reading it,
with all the things that Shanna has shared about it.
The book is great! The pictures are all beautiful. Personal stories are wonderful.
The food look fabulous. Good details
for making the recipes. I loved all the thoughts, tips & ideas in the book.
It’s the best collection of everything needed for celebrating Christmas!!
Don’t forget ~
Read A Book. Help A Cowboy.
10/1 to 12/24
Formatting is great, easy to navigate the sections.
The stories and photos are fantastic. Loved that they were included.
The ideas and tips for decorating are wonderful.
The crafts look easy enough for a beginner to complete with great looking results.
The recipes look easy and tasty, too, but I most appreciate the little story behind their inclusion.
A great book on making Christmas special
I have loved Shanna Hatfield’s fiction and now I am glad to say that she also writes great non-fiction.
A Cowboy Christmas will appeal to a number of different tastes.
First, those who want to entertain but don’t feel they are very good at it. Not only will you get tips for how to successfully host a gathering, you will also get encouragement about the point of entertaining – as a hint, it isn’t about you! With oodles of ideas on how to make your guests comfortable and how to make your tables look great with a minimal effort, these tips alone make it worth the purchase.
If you want ideas for recipes, there are many in here and not just the traditional ones you would expect. While some use mixes, most do not. I was surprised to find a recipe for meatloaf that doesn’t use tomato products and am very excited to give it a try. Those who need to avoid gluten will find some you can make as well.
The craft ideas are also great. Some look simple to make;p all are creative.
One of my favorite sections is the gift giving one. Not only are there hints on how to wrap a package beautifully, there are also many gift ideas for those more difficult-to-shop-for people on your list.
I really enjoyed the stories in there as well. Several families shared their Christmas traditions. It was interesting to see their involvement with the Justin Cowboy Crisis Fund, which is no surprise considering the author’s love for this foundation. The fact that they had been helped by the JCCF was simply part of their story and it was not mentioned in a way to make you think they are soliciting funds. Given that a portion of the proceeds of this book (and all others by Shanna Hatfield) will go to the charity from now through December, it is appropriately mentioned and subtle.
I plan to purchase a copy soon because I find a hardback book much easier to use than an ebook for this type of resource.

I was given a copy of this book. I was not required to give a favorable review nor was any money received for this review. All comments and opinions are my own.
This is a beautiful celebration of the Holidays and will help with planning, cooking and all aspects of Holiday preparations – I was lucky enough to proofread an ARC and freely leave my review!!
this is a wonderful book full of recipes, photos and stories of cowboys and family and how to decorate for Christmas very well written . I was given a copy of the book but this is an honest review.
This book of celebrations of life and holidays especially Christmas is what Shanna Hatfield is made of. This author not only excels at writing amazing cowboy romance, she creates recipes, does crafts and knows how to have a small or big get together especially at Christmas a holiday she and her beloved Captain Cavedweller love she excels at authoring and doing photography for a book of all things Christmas.
Family is always at the head of this and any celebration for this author.
There are interviews of rodeo cowboys and gals, rodeo families of their triumphs and hardships with injuries that will amaze you. She talks more about a charity near and dear to her heart, the Justin Foundation and the importance of it and how almost each of the families she has interviewed needed at a time in their life they had no place to go or a way to earn income..
Besides amazing stories, she has amazing ideas of making packages special and gorgeous, crafts to enhance the holiday and how to decorate and of course mouth watering recipes.
This book rivals those of Better Homes and Gardens holiday entertaining books and many others. This one however has love, traditions, and the heart of God that cowboys, rodeo and others rural folks like this author and husband are and their backgrounds. This is one holiday book to get the hardcover copy because you will use it over and over if only for the recipes and most likely the other fun ideas she has. I highly recommend this fantastic, special and amazing book.
I received this book as an ARC to look over. I however wasn’t asked to do a review but how could I not with all this has in it and how fabulous this celebrations book is and for the recipes alone, and well the crafts too.
Such a beautiful book, and such a wonderful celebration of traditions and ideas to introduce into your own family.
Included are heartwarming stories, recipes, craft ideas. This book shares with Shanna Hatfield’s readers her joy and enthusiasm for the Western Way of life and the continuity of family that needs to be handed down to the new generations.
This book is going to be one of my go to books for this coming holiday season. The recipes alone make me think Holiday!
I have been looking forward to this book for quite a while and must say it did not disappoint me.
I received an ARC of this book and am choosing to leave an honest review.
