This was a great story about strong people who deal with a mistake made as youth. So many secrets and so much distrust. I love how he tries to make it right as soon as he finds out. Such a great ending!
This is the first book I’ve read by this author and I really enjoyed it. It’s a great second-chance love story that’s clean and sweet. The characters are great and I really enjoyed their growth and change. Great book!

Rex and Holly got married. Three months later, she told him she had a miscarriage, they divorced, and she disappeared. Five years later, she’s in Chestnut Springs, and runs into Rex. She has their daughter with her. He and Sarah take to each other immediately and he’s ready to be a father to her. Do Rex and Holly have a chance to get back together? This is a wonderful book, addressing the issue of mental illness and depression in a sensitive manner. Rex wants so much to have their family together, but he has to work past his anger over Holly’s omission, and learn to trust her again. She has to learn to trust her feelings and open up to him. And they both have to communicate better. Sarah is absolutely the sweetest little girl ever. I’ve fallen in love with every one of the Johnson brothers as I’ve read their books, and Rex is no exception. I’m very much looking forward to the next book in the series.

It is a captivating and emotionally deep read with twists and turns, ups and downs, and very sensitive issues. The characters are likeable with amazing chemistry between them. This book will hold your interest from beginning to end. Strongly recommended!

I have so enjoyed reading this series. When Rex sees Holly again after 5 years apart and he is so very mad – and then the little girl too – wow do the sparks fly and the road to the HEA is so very bumpy – but a great read!!

Six years ago, Rex’s life was destroyed by lies. Only he did not know they were lies. Will the chance meeting in town establish communication between him and the person who lied to him? Will they be able to leave the past behind, mend fences and move on?
Another great book by a great author.
I really enjoyed this book. Its nice how Holy and Rex were upfront about the issue about their child Sarah, but what was really wonderful for me was Holy’s ability to stand up for herself so that she can be heard and be an equal partner with Rex.
I also loved the fact that I could relate with Holy’s character. Its beautiful to note that as much as her mother tried to manipulate her into staying with her she decided to stand up and believe in herself that she was well able to take care of herself and her daughter and to keep and hold her job.

I loved this Johnson brothers novel. Rex has secrets that he has not shared with anyone. He was once married – for four months. Holly told him, she lost the baby and then she ran away. He tried endless times to find her, but to no avail. He thinks he spots her, but who is the little girl with her? Holly decides it is time to stop running. Rex has to face his family with the knowledge of his marriage.

This is the fourth book in this series that I have read. Each one has been excellent and I especially loved this one. It was about second chances, forgiveness and love. In this book you will find out things aren’t what they seem, but are you willing to work together to correct the problems and most of all change. Excellent and I would highly recommend this book.

I can’t help but believe Sally Johnson had her hands full raising her sons. It has been delightful getting to know them and then meeting their brides to be. Playboy Rex really did push the envelope by introducing us and the family to an ex-wife and unknown to him, daughter. I really enjoyed watching him and Holly try to put their lives back together. Both had changed and grown and these changes had to be accepted by the other person. Rex also had to face some old misunderstanding with his family. This was a very good addition to the series.
This is the story of Rex a confirmed man about town who has an expiry date on any relationship he starts Then we find out why he is the way he is when we meet Holly his ex wife Yes they where young and stupid and definitely not mature enough to marry. What secret has Holly kept all these years is the spark still between them and can they have future together You will have to read to see
I am giving this new book by Emmy Eugene three and one-half stars simply because I was bouncing back and forth between three and four stars and decided to split the difference. I was totally on board with Rex from the very beginning and my opinion of him never changed throughout the entire book. Granted, he had some issues, but when it came to Holly he was always all in. She was the one who lied and walked out on him. So he got a high four stars. Holly was the one that brought the rating down. I wonder if she would have ever told Rex about his daughter, Sarah if she had not accidentally run into him again? I am not going to give away any spoilers other than to say Holly had opportunities to contact Rex now that she had made changes and was working on improvements in her life and she never did. An automatic first strike against her IMO. Then she questioned whether she could trust him. The same man who had done nothing wrong other than to love her and want to build a family with her?? She is not sure if SHE can trust HIM?? Look in the mirror, please and then ask yourself that same question. Nope, not a fan of Holly. Even though I did sympathize with what she had dealt with, that is still not an excuse for basically committing robbery towards the man who fathered the child you had deprived him of for five years! Her character definitely only rated a low three stars. That is how I arrived at the three and one-half stars I rated this.
Kudos to the author for tackling a very sensitive and too often stereotyped and misunderstood issue in society. That takes guts and I applaud her for it. I just wish the character of Holly had been capable of garnering more sympathy. Then I think this would have been a fantastic book. Sarah was an adorable child and her interactions with Rex were some of the best scenes in the whole book. You could just feel the love developing between them come right off the page and into your heart!

Flawed humans—that’s what we all are. But for some of us, the flaws seem to run deeper. Holly Roberts has battled depression and anxiety. Getting the help she needs, she ready to move forward to correct mistakes from her past—mistakes caused by faulty thinking. Rex Johnson has been devastated by Holly’s disappearance from his life and their marriage five years ago. Since then, he’s become a “player” who’s very loud, brash and obnoxious. A chance encounter with Holly and a little girl turn his world upside down. Dealing with the past in order to create a better future has never seemed more difficult and more worth it at the same time. A great read that gives hope and solutions for dealing with the demon of depression, for righting the past, and for moving into a bright future. I couldn’t put it down!
Holly let her depression and anxiety cause her to run from her husband Rex and deny him the daughter he never knew Sarah. However, he could be immature, quick to anger, and didn’t always consider others feelings before making his own judgement or decision. Sarah was an adorable five year old and I agree with Holly that it’s better to know if she has problems so she can receive the help she needs. Unlike Rex, I don’t feel that doing so means she’s flawed as it seemed like he felt Holly was. I loved that Holly wanted a Miniature Schnauzer as I had a wonderful one myself that I recently lost. But I was disappointed that other than picking one out, the puppy wasn’t mentioned again in the rest of the book. This was a clean second chance romance.
Another great story in the series! Like the previous books this one is well written and captivating. Rex has kept a secret from his family and he has no plans to ever tell the secret. That is until he comes face to face with part of the secret and discovers a big lie that gets exposed. Rex deals with everything in a really good way. The characters are well developed and enjoyable. Highly recommend.
