He’s the foreman for the family ranch. She’s broken up with him once already. Can their mutual love of rescuing dogs bring them back together? Maybe cowboys never get a second chance…Russ Johnson has the degree and the experience to run a ranch successfully. Not that it really matters if he doesn’t, because this cowboy billionaire’s bank account can take a hit. Too bad his heart can’t. When his … his heart can’t.
When his ex-girlfriend, Janelle Stokes, shows up at Chestnut Ranch with another dog that needs rescuing, they start seeing each other again. She was worried about how her two girls would do with Russ in their lives, so she broke up with him, her lawyerly mind taking the reins from her heart.
But as they work together to expand the dog rescue facilities at the ranch, Russ involves Janelle’s kids in such a seamless way that she thinks she might just give him her whole heart for Christmas.
Yay, Russ!
Except her ex-husband is back in Chestnut Springs for the holidays, and everything gets complicated when he says he wants to try to rebuild the family Janelle once had with him and their children.
Oh, boy.
Will Russ’s Christmas crush have to stay that way? Or will he and Janelle get their second chance and find a way to build a new brand of family?

Wonderful series
I love Janelle and Russ’s interaction. This book creates the bonds of family between Russ, Janelle, and her daughters. Sometimes love needs a second chance to succeed, but when Janelle’s ex-husband comes to town and wants to try again things get complicated. I love how Russ and his brothers seek someone to love. Russ’s interest in Janelle’s daughters endeared him even more to me. So check out this book for yourself.
The story moves along at a good pace and kept my interest. It is definitely worth reading.

This was a wonderful addition to the Chestnut Ranch Cowboy Billionaire Romance series of books. While it could be read alone, it is better having read Seth and Travis’ stories. I fell in love with Russ. He and Janelle make the perfect pair. The author did a great job with Janelle’s handling of her ex-husband. If you love clean, modern day cowboy romance, you will love this book.

Third book in the Chestnut Ranch Cowboy Billionaire Romance series and it is an engaging second chance page turner. The story line is well-developed, emotionally deep, well written, and relatable. The ups and downs, lack of communication, and amazing and likeable characters will keep you interested from start to finish. Definitely recommended.

Russ and Janelle were a couple and then they weren’t. And then they were. It is a complicated dance of a single mother of two girls who meets a man who is solid, a man of his word, honest and willing to make go at a relationship. Janelle’s life is complicated by a dishonest, persuasive ex-husband Henry with time on his hands. Henry does his best to persuade Janelle to let him back into their lives, promising to be a better man this time around. It is an emotional roller-coaster for Russ and Janelle as they work through the cycle of trust and mistrust. Throw in two confused little girls who just want to spend time with their daddy. Great read.
Janelle is back with Russ, and shes ready for him to meet her girls. She’s been helping out with the rescue dogs; they adopted one, and are boarding several others, teaching the girls about responsibility. Her ex husband, Henry, comes back to town for a month. He’s spending a lot of time with the girls, and stirring things up with her older daughter. She finds out why he’s not working, and doesn’t trust him alone with their daughters, so he’s at her house a lot. He wants to get back together. Again. But now she’s torn… Russ has been so very good to her and the girls, and has made no secret what direction he wants their relationship to go. This is such a wonderful book. Janelle and Russ are just so sweet together, and he truly loves her and her daughters. At one time in my life, I was where Janelle is with the cheating ex wanting to come back, so I understand her confusion. This events in this book run concurrently with Cowboys Never Kiss Under the Mistletoe, and the author does a terrific job of keeping the stories in agreement with the other book. These Johnson brothers are just almost too good to be true. This is the third book in the series, and I can’t wait for the next one!

A sweet story that pulls you in and wonderful characters you’ll fall in love. The chemistry between the main characters is great and you’ll find yourself rooting for them to have their HEA.

I really enjoyed this book. It was different that most other books, that are almost identical in their stories. This is what I call, a real life situation, superbly written. I could really relate to the characters and the confusion and hurt they felt. That makes me like the book more, if I am drawn into the situations. You would really enjoy the brothers in this story, too. Pick up this book today and see if you don’t enjoy the ups and downs.
Emmy Eugene always has well developed characters and in this book she has 3 major characters, Russ, the hero cowboy who is a nice guy and has been well raised by his momma, Janelle, the heroine who loves her girls and makes the mistake of overthinking what is best for them and herself and then there is the villain, Henry. Unfortunately, I have known people like Henry who really only thinks of themselves, who wouldn’t know the truth if it jumped up and bit him and who is an expert at manipulating every situation. This combination make for a very compelling story and you will find yourself yelling at Janelle for being rather stupid. I recommend this book.
Such a great book I have read a few of her books let me tell ya this one is off the hook awesome hot steamy sexy passionate all wrap up well written nice character can’t wait see what next.

This is a stand-alone cowboy romance. Russ and Janelle met speed dating and they were on and off and on and off … the angst was a bit tedious after a while. The story is ok and the so are the characters but somehow this book just did not keep my attention. This is not a bad book by any means and this is only my opinion so I suggest you grab a copy of you like second chance romances and or billionaires.

This was okay. I just never connected with either of the main characters. Both Russ and Janelle seemed to spend way too much time worrying about how their actions would be perceived and not enough time figuring out how to actually talk to one another. I do like this series so I am hoping the rest of the books will be more like the first two were.

This is a sweet story that draws you in and keeps you engaged I did get a little frustrated with Janelle but I could also see where she was coming from
Russ and Janelle have history together they where youthful sweethearts but she went away and became a attorney specialising in family and divorce law and now she is a single mum to her two daughters She returns to Chestnut Ranch when she brings a dog that needs help the connection is still there but she isn’t sure about introducing her daughters to Russ so she pulls away As they work on the dog rescue facility she sees how Russ works with her girls and decides to maybe give it a chance Then her ex returns he wants to be a family again Who will Janelle pick and will Russ get his heart broken You will have to read to see

I thought this was a very good story about broken families and 2nd and third chances. Russ is a billionaire cowboy. Janelle is an attorney with two girls. Russ and Janelle start dating but she breaks up with him. Then they start again. Her ex shows up and tried to get back together. What happens to the relationship with Russ?

I feel like I’m starting to sound like a broken record over the heroes I’ve read recently: I adored Russ. We got to see his vulnerable side as well as how sweet and caring he is. Janelle drove me absolutely mental until I realized that what I didn’t like about her behaviour were the exact same things I had done myself with my no-good-for-me ex. Apparently I connected a lot more with her than I thought I had. There’s still a lot of story here, but I think I’m finally getting used to the author’s style. I enjoyed watching this pair as they fell in love and it broke my heart when things got in their way. I’m looking forward to reading about the rest of the Johnson brothers.
I received a complimentary advanced copy of this book though Booksprout.
This is a good story. Characters have depth and storyline is good. For me the male lead is definitely the highlight of this book and carries the story.
I’ll certainly be reading more from this author.
