He’s the foreman for the family ranch. She’s broken up with him once already. Can their mutual love of rescuing dogs bring them back together? Maybe cowboys never get a second chance…Russ Johnson has the degree and the experience to run a ranch successfully. Not that it really matters if he doesn’t, because this cowboy billionaire’s bank account can take a hit. Too bad his heart can’t. When his … his heart can’t.
When his ex-girlfriend, Janelle Stokes, shows up at Chestnut Ranch with another dog that needs rescuing, they start seeing each other again. She was worried about how her two girls would do with Russ in their lives, so she broke up with him, her lawyerly mind taking the reins from her heart.
But as they work together to expand the dog rescue facilities at the ranch, Russ involves Janelle’s kids in such a seamless way that she thinks she might just give him her whole heart for Christmas.
Yay, Russ!
Except her ex-husband is back in Chestnut Springs for the holidays, and everything gets complicated when he says he wants to try to rebuild the family Janelle once had with him and their children.
Oh, boy.
Will Russ’s Christmas crush have to stay that way? Or will he and Janelle get their second chance and find a way to build a new brand of family?

I liked Russ and I felt sorry for him. I liked most of the book, and liked how he got along with Janelle’s daughters.
I even liked Janelle when she was with Russ. I was extremely frustrated by her behavior with Henry. I just couldn’t wrap my head around it.
Russ was a much better person than I could be in that situation. I could not imagine trusting someone who behaved like that. It was nice that he had support from both Travis and Seth.
All the Johnson brothers make an appearance. This was my favorite of the series so far. I am looking forward to Griff and Libby’s story.
I’m spite of Janelle’s behavior, this was still an enjoyable read. I was able to complete it in one sitting as the storyline flowed very smoothly. Russ, Janelle, and the girls get their HEA.
I voluntarily read and reviewed the Advanced Reader Copy received via Booksprout.
Or do they?
Will Janelle be able to trust Russ enough to introduce her daughters to him? How do you introduce your daughters to your new boyfriend? How do you include them in the activities that you do with your new boyfriend? Will they be able to fit in with his family or will they feel really uncomfortable and out of place? Will you let the apprehension that you face control your moves or will you go with your heart?
Third book in the series and they just get better and better! Plenty of drama with an ex husband thrown in to stir up trouble in a romance already a little bit shaky. A single mom with to young girls and a hot Cowboy lots of drama before we get to the HEA, but get there we do.
It had a wonderful ending.
Russ Johnson and Janelle Stokes right at first you know that Russ thinks highly of Janelle. Yet Janelle had pushed away because of her daughters. Yet as you read the book you have to love Russ and his beginning relationship with Janelle’s children. My heart broke for him when he felt that Janelle had chosen her ex instead of him. I loved the last chapter it was a wonderful ending. I highly recommend! I did receive a free copy of this book and voluntarily chose to review it.
I really enjoy reading this storyline, the characters are great. I like how you don’t have to read the book before this one to understand the story. Reading about Russ and Janelle’s story and how they form a relationship and learn to trust and forgive each other.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
