The seductive and stunning #1 New York Times bestselling sequel to Sarah J. Maas’s spellbinding A Court of Thorns and Roses.Feyre has undergone more trials than one human woman can carry in her heart. Though she’s now been granted the powers and lifespan of the High Fae, she is haunted by her time Under the Mountain and the terrible deeds she performed to save the lives of Tamlin and his people. … lives of Tamlin and his people.
As her marriage to Tamlin approaches, Feyre’s hollowness and nightmares consume her. She finds herself split into two different people: one who upholds her bargain with Rhysand, High Lord of the feared Night Court, and one who lives out her life in the Spring Court with Tamlin. While Feyre navigates a dark web of politics, passion, and dazzling power, a greater evil looms. She might just be the key to stopping it, but only if she can harness her harrowing gifts, heal her fractured soul, and decide how she wishes to shape her future-and the future of a world in turmoil.
Bestselling author Sarah J. Maas’s masterful storytelling brings this second book in her dazzling, sexy, action-packed series to new heights.
more
better than the first
I read everything by this author.
I love this series and I felt the need to reread this story, so I caved and here we are.
The first time I read this series I was team Tamlin all the way until under the mountain. I couldn’t wrap my mind around how he didn’t tried to help her once.
Rhys on the other hand was intriguing since the start. Yes he was bad but he never did truly bad things to Feyre. I didn’t understand why I felt such a fascination with this character until this reread.
Rhys is present in this series before we even get to meet him. Feyre always looked to the night sky for comfort and I started to associate it with Rhys unconsciously.
I started to truly see the difference between Tamlin and Rhys on the second book. Tamlin didn’t care for Feyre’s wellbeing while Rhys did everything he could to help her push through her trauma. She never seek one for comfort while she leaned on the other.
I realized that I started to fall for Rhys right along with Feyre, while he still was an enemy. The story was crafted perfectly.
Knowing how everything ended, gave me the opportunity to see things I didn’t saw at first. How wrong Tam was for her, how wicked Ianthe truly was since the beginning. The why of Nesta’s attitude. So many things I didn’t picked up on the first time.
I can’t wait for the next book and see how Nesta’s story is going to unravel.

Things are getting really interesting in this second book. So many things have happened in book one and it definitely has its repercussions. Tamlin his jealousy and everything that happened has taken its toll. Whereas Feyre is actually growing stronger and growing as a person as well. It seems like Tamlin wants Feyre to be the girl she was before, but she’s just isn’t the same anymore. Can their relationship survive everything they’ve been through? At the same time, we get the know Rhysand better and learning more about why he did some things at the Night Court. Because of her bargain, Feyre is also getting to know Rhysand better and they grow closer together. We also get introduced to Rhysand his “crew” and I loved all these new side characters. I loved the bromance and the banter between Cassian, Azriel and Rhys. I felt like the worldbuilding was better in this installment, only I felt the pace was off again at times and the beginning was (again) too slow for me. Towards they end things started to pick up again and there was also more action. All the amazing new characters definitely make up for the lack of pace, I loved them! I cannot wait to see what they are up to next.

My favorite book of all time. I want to live in Velaris.
Beautiful. Enchanting. Lustrous. Sarah J. Maas had me in complete tranquility. The second half of the book had me swooning and feeling as if I were in Feyre’s body, living out the story myself! This was an excellent follow up to A Court of Thorns and Roses.
I loved book 1, but this sequel was by far better!
A strong sequel which I preferred much more than the first in this series. I really like Rhysand and I’m so glad he’s the male lead. Fayre does manage to mope and sulk a lot but realistically she acts like anyone suffering from PTSD so I tried not to let it irritate me. Nice world-building and a couple of nice twists in there. Looking forward to read the rest of the series.
Amazing book with a world and characters that pull you into the action! I love the mix of battles, mystery, intrigue, fantasy and romance!
I thought I fell in love with the first book of this series, and this one just blew me away. I fell in love with all the characters and wanted to see where they would each end up. I couldn’t put it down and was excited for the next book in the series.
Just read it, its amazing!
I liked this one better than the first one though I’m not sure why these are marketed as YA. They read more like fantasy romance to me because they are far more steamy than the normal YA fare.
WHAT THE ACTUAL SH*T!
Obviously I loved it if that wasn’t clear. I had to finish it, so now it’s 4 am and I’m shaking from that ending. Gosh I love this series. New favorite book, maybe the third can top it but we’ll see….
By far my favorite in the series. I loved how she turned this around and opened up the world in directions I wasn’t expecting when I started reading it.
WOW what a series! I loved book 1, but this book blew it out of the water. Filled with so much action and drama. I was captivated from page 1. Rhys is amazing! I love his connection with Feyre. I love that their friendship grew steady, but was very powerful. Feyre is a killer heroine, I enjoyed reading this new side of her. Can’t wait to see what’s in store with book 3!
Absolute rollercoaster. Second book in the series but the best.
This is my favorite book in the series
This is my new re-read over and over for comfort book. Here in the apocalypse, we all need our book like that. And this is mine. Thank you, Sarah J. Maas <3
Both main characters are in a dark place. Both help each other, but in a super realistic hey-I-can't-make-the-dark-go-away-but-I'm-here kind of way. I have several bits highlighted on my Kindle for when I need to hear those words myself.
This is also one of the healthiest relationships I've seen depicted in fantasy.
Also, you know that amazing ensemble cast in the movie "Twister"? That's here in this book making you laugh out loud.
I just NEED all of this book right now.
One word: Swoon.
I hate to say it, but I loved it. Rhysand is life. He is an amazing character and there was so much more to him than I expected. He suffered through so much and is not at all the monster that he’s made out to be. He’s cunning, charming, powerful beyond measure, and beautiful darkness. The Night Court is absolutely amazing and I loved the picture the author painted of this Court. Rhysand truly cared about his people and made huge sacrifices to ensure their safety.
Feyre slowly grew on in this book. She really did shed her childish behavior that annoyed me to no end in the first book. She definitely matures as a Fae. So many new things were happening with her as she gets used to her new body and it was very well written. She comes into her power with the help of Rhysand. While this made the story slow down quite a bit and get slow, I still enjoyed it. I loved Azriel, Amren, Mor, and Cassian so much. They were amazing additions to the story with fierce loyalty to Rhysand.
I don’t to go on and on about everything I enjoyed about this book. I’ll summarize with the fact that I loved Rhysand, his court, and his people. Feyre grows on me and develops a lot in this book. I literally have no words for Tamlin and Lucien. I’m not sure if I agree with the turn these characters took because I’m not sure if it was done to make Rhysand look better, if so, it was completely unnecessary. While there are many moments that I thoroughly enjoyed there is a point in the middle of the book where its slow and not much is happening. It did not take away from the experience. I hate to say it, but I loved this book.
This book was excellent and I couldn’t put it down. Rhys puts all other men to shame. He is perfection itself.
I could’ve done without the erotic lovemaking scenes, though. Just one, sure. But there was an entire chapter devoted to it. I was constantly flipping through pages just to get back to the story.
