The seductive and stunning #1 New York Times bestselling sequel to Sarah J. Maas’s spellbinding A Court of Thorns and Roses.Feyre has undergone more trials than one human woman can carry in her heart. Though she’s now been granted the powers and lifespan of the High Fae, she is haunted by her time Under the Mountain and the terrible deeds she performed to save the lives of Tamlin and his people. … lives of Tamlin and his people.
As her marriage to Tamlin approaches, Feyre’s hollowness and nightmares consume her. She finds herself split into two different people: one who upholds her bargain with Rhysand, High Lord of the feared Night Court, and one who lives out her life in the Spring Court with Tamlin. While Feyre navigates a dark web of politics, passion, and dazzling power, a greater evil looms. She might just be the key to stopping it, but only if she can harness her harrowing gifts, heal her fractured soul, and decide how she wishes to shape her future-and the future of a world in turmoil.
Bestselling author Sarah J. Maas’s masterful storytelling brings this second book in her dazzling, sexy, action-packed series to new heights.

These books are SOOO good.
As you can see, I’ve gobbled up a six hundred plus page book in less than a week… because these characters and this plot are so freaking addictive.
I won’t give spoilers because that’s not how I roll, but Sarah J. Maas knows how to keep a girl on the edge of her seat. So many twists and turns in this one! A HUGE plot twist I never saw coming…and one word Rhysand, gah!!!
Ok, so there were several times when I wanted to smack Feyre upside the head and I was SO flippin’ broken by this book that I grieved with her. THESE are the emotions this series elicits inside you. Fury and Mist, a great name for this book.
But Feyre is a legit bad-a$$ and I loved her strength.
If you love a story with action, heart-pounding excitement, romance and fantasy, don’t hesitate any longer and grab up this book series.
I’m about to start book 3 and I seriously can’t wait!!!
A continuation of my re-read for the series and I still continue to love this book! My connection to the characters continues to grow especially for the strong female character Feyre. I love her wit and her drive to be independent! I would also love to go live in Velaris. This book has unstoppable action throughout it!
Loved everything about this series, and cant wait to read the next book, or others by this author.
Reread (2/2021) – changing my ranking to a solid 4 stars. There is SO much I like more in this one than in the first, but I feel like it was a little long/draggy. I still love seeing Feyre grow beyond loving the first person to be nice to her, and start realizing what she needs and how she should be treated. I’m still excited going into a reread of A Court of Mist and Fury, because I looove what’s happening at the end of this one.
4.5 Stars. I enjoyed this more than the first because it resolved one of my biggest issues
This book… wow. I didn’t expect so many of things that happened but I’m so delighted for them! This is officially one of my all time favorite series. I love all of the witty banter, name calling, love, just everything about this book. SJM did a wonderful job giving the story of Hades and Persephone a new perspective, just like she did with Beauty and the Beast and ACOTAR. This book is simply amazing and I recommend it to everyone that’s looking for something amazing to read.
Updated review (2/4/21): This will forever be my favorite book! No matter how many times I reread it, I still love it. It’s still as captivating and witty. I will never not laugh and love this book!
Wow! I enjoyed Acoustic of Thorns and Roses but A Court of Mist and Fury far surpassed it. I enjoyed Feyre and Tamlin together in book 1, but book 2 blew them out of the orbit. Feyre is a stronger mightier force! Rhysand is so much deeper and stronger than I could have imagined from book 1. The slow burn romance is so steamy.l and like the ending- perfect and left me wanting more. I am so excited to start book 3.
I love Rhysand – he’s the model romantic lead – heroic, self-sacrificing, funny, romantic, charming…I could go on all day about him but truthfully, the story was the perfect setting to let this character shine. Feyre gets smarter and braver with each book – the way the first book is viewed through the lens of the second brings depth to the story. It’s a gorgeous book and a great escape-read.
If I could give this more stars, I would! I was completely drawn in and I didn’t want to leave this place. Feyre is the absolute bomb! Rhysand is so glorious and multifaceted. The revelations that we find out in this book are amazing. Some parts almost killed me and others I felt like my heart would melt away. The ending just ripped my heart out. Sarah J Maas’s writing is superb! I just can’t get over this book. The highs and lows of this book are like a rollercoaster that you don’t want to get off of. My heart still hurts but I want to get to the next book right away!
5/5 Stars
3/5 Steam Rating
After reading ACOTAR I didn’t know how much more I could love Feyre or this book. I’ve heard that ACOMAF was even better than the first, but I didn’t want to hold my breath… but y’all, ACOMAF is 600+pgs of EPICNESS!!!
While I enjoyed the pseudo-love triangle thing of ACOTAR, this one was even better! And Feyre’s character… I just loved how broken yet fierce she is!! She definitely experiences PTSD from her traumas while Under the Mountain but I love how she pushes through those feelings, not afraid to show her scars and stand up for herself. I loved how strong of a protagonist she was in ACOTAR but I love her in this book even more than I thought possible!
I’m going to be honest, in ACOTAR I really struggled with why everyone liked Rhysand so much. Before picking up this series I always heard of Rhysand & Feyre but never of Tamlin & Feyre. But I get it now, oh boy do I get it!!! Move over Jamie Fraser, I think I just found my new book boyfriend!!
I finished this book last night and I’m currently over 1/3 of the way through ACOWAR. To say I’m enthralled with this series is an understatement.
When I finished the first book in this series, A Court of Thorns and Roses (which I also loved) I could see the direction that Maas was taking some of the characters and I was not happy! BUT, let me just say, this author is a genius! I absolutely LOVE the direction this second book went and although I didn’t think it possible, I have to admit I loved this second book even more than the first.
I won’t spend time rehashing the plot since you can read that in other reviews. I’ll just say that the imagery is beautiful and the characters are heartbreaking. When the author can make me feel love and loss for secondary characters, she has done her job well. I can truly say I was sadden when bad things happened to good characters and the secondary characters in A Court of Mist and Fury almost feel like friends. It sounds quite pathetic, I know, but I’ll just chalk it up to Maas’s brilliant story telling.
I’ll just end with this: I am not generally a reader of book series. For whatever reason, whether it’s fear that the second book won’t live up to the first, or just losing interest in the characters & plot because there are other things I want to read, I have a hard time following through with a series. But after reading A Court of Thorns and Roses I KNEW I had to keep reading! And now that I have finished A Court of Mist and Fury, there is NO DOUBT that I will be reading the next book, A Court of Wings and Ruin. Sarah J. Maas just might make a book series convert out of me yet!
One of the best PNR books I have read, definitely worth the wait to read them all, the story is brilliant, the characters are fantastic, the twists and turns had me reading non-stop. Sarah J Maas has a genius mind to built all this and been able to write it in a way that is just perfect for the reader. The audiobooks are fantastic. Bravo, I give a standing ovation!
Did I just reread this in anticipation of the new book next month? Yup.
Rereading this book never gets old. The beginning of the book, when Feyre is wasting away, hits home every time. Her pain is so well-written that it hurts the reader! I love going back to look at all the little interactions between her and Rhys. It never gets old.
Initially I thought the book was not my style. A spoiled, arrogant 16 year old did not appeal to me. I plodded on and was surprised how intriguing the book became. It is a different war fought of a girl fighting for goodness while not always doing good. Loved the series.
It may of started slow but I loved getting to know Rhys better and watch his and Feyre’s relationship grow. I cannot wait to read the 3rd book in this series!
I hate Tamlin now…
This is my all-time favorite book. It’s the second book in the A Court of Thorns and Roses series. You get to know the characters much better; there is tremendous growth of the story line and characters. The author gives us more of everything you want and has great world building and shows imagination.
I thought this was an excellent book and series. I really enjoyed A Court of Thorns and Roses but thought the series got better with the 2nd book. I completely underestimated Rhysand and the Night Court. Absolutely loved this series and would read it over and over again!
Updated 5.3.2020 – this book is excellent, from beginning to end. I’m so glad I reread it. Fantastic, I love it so much.
Great writing that creates an immersive world!
It’s a sad fact that sequels don’t always live up to the beginning of a series. But there are many great sequels out there, and sometimes they are actually better than the first book!
That is definitely the case with this one! Honestly, it’s my favorite book in the series.
It is so well written, emotionally driven, empowering for the main character, engaging for the reader as we see new parts of a world we barely began to explore in the first book. The growth Feyra goes through is raw and believable. The supporting characters are excellent. The pacing is perfect. There is pain, humor, kindness, healing, love, and we see how friendship, sacrifice, and goodness can combat evil.
And Rhys. Seriously, him alone is enough to make this book AMAZING! Talk about ultimate book boyfriend….
Content: Some language, some violence, and some explicit sex along with some innuendos.
Great series
LOVED this series, however, I wish Ms. Maas would finish it….
