The seductive and stunning #1 New York Times bestselling sequel to Sarah J. Maas’s spellbinding A Court of Thorns and Roses.Feyre has undergone more trials than one human woman can carry in her heart. Though she’s now been granted the powers and lifespan of the High Fae, she is haunted by her time Under the Mountain and the terrible deeds she performed to save the lives of Tamlin and his people. … lives of Tamlin and his people.
As her marriage to Tamlin approaches, Feyre’s hollowness and nightmares consume her. She finds herself split into two different people: one who upholds her bargain with Rhysand, High Lord of the feared Night Court, and one who lives out her life in the Spring Court with Tamlin. While Feyre navigates a dark web of politics, passion, and dazzling power, a greater evil looms. She might just be the key to stopping it, but only if she can harness her harrowing gifts, heal her fractured soul, and decide how she wishes to shape her future-and the future of a world in turmoil.
Bestselling author Sarah J. Maas’s masterful storytelling brings this second book in her dazzling, sexy, action-packed series to new heights.

I am totally awed by this series! The epic adventures, sweeping romance & heartfelt friendships make it impossible to put down. I enjoyed Feyre’s journey in the first book, but the shift to the Night Court & the evolution of her relationships with Rhysand & his inner circle made this book soar. I loved it so much I listened to the audiobook first & then went back for a reread. This book & series are magical and not to be missed.
The High Lord & Lady of the Night Court have my HEART!!!
After A Court of Thorn and Roses I was entirely blown away my Sarah J. Maas because never have I been able to read a book much less a series about fairies. When I went in to this one, I was a bit skeptical for more than one reason but Maas not only made me fall in love with fairies AGAIN but she also blew me away completely on the way this story went. I am not even going to lie, I was floored by the events of this book with Feyre, Rhys and the whole Night Court.
Feyre really started coming in to her own in this book after she was able to get over the trauma that happened under the mountain and while there were times I wanted to shake her and say “WAKE THE F*** UP!” I was thrilled to see such a bada** leading lady. She was able to become exactly who she wanted to be and to hell with what everyone especially Tamlin (insert eye roll here) thought.
Now Rhys that man is my new official book boyfriend from here on out, I don’t see how anyone could replace him but besides that. Rhys really intrigued me in ACOTAR because we really didn’t get to see too much of his good side but in this book, you really fall in love with Rhys because of his demons not despite them. The bonus with Rhys for me was his family Amren, Mor, Azriel and Cassian. They were this tight nit group of people who for long only had one another but they had no qualms about letting Feyre in because they saw what she was doing for Rhys. Feyre was not the only one suffering from trauma from what happened under that mountain.
Also, Feyra’s sisters what was that?!?! I mean all of it from start to finish those two women were not what I was expecting at all especially there at the end. I mean Nesta is going to be one hell of a fighter, so I really hope we get to see more from here.
There were so many times through this book where my heart just dropped to my stomach and I was getting so angry for the things they had to endure and the things they had to do to protect their people. Somewhere between ACOTAR and the first 100 pages of this book I was 100% attached to these characters and I didn’t want to let them go and while I know the next book is just one click away it was hard for this book to end.
I have zero complaints about A Court of Mist and Fury other than I really can’t wait to start book three and see what Feyre has up her sleeve with Tamrin and what Rhys is going to do.
A Court of Mist and Fury is the second book in the ACOTAR series. After reading the first book, I felt so-so about the series; however, after this book I am COMPLETELY IN!
.
Let me address my big elephant in the room: Feyre. I strongly disliked her in the first book. By the end, I tolerated her. Now, I get it. I absolutely love her. She is everything everyone said. So okay, I admit I was wrong about her.
.
In my opinion, this second book is the beginning of a love story. It is also the build up to a war. I don’t want to give too much away to anyone who hasn’t read the series. All I can say, is if you love fantasy or even if it isn’t your favorite, I could see you falling in love with this series. It has a little bit of everything for everyone. This book is just so much more than first!
Oh goodness…. I seriously don’t know what to write about this book. I have so many, so many emotions. This book was just everything! If I thought I liked the first one, this it’s so much higher. I literally felt happiness, anger, fear, love, despair, I mean everything. I went from dislike to love, from everything to everything.
In the beginning, I didn’t find that good tbh. I didn’t understand all the hype it gets. BUT. the story gets way too interesting to not be absorbed by it. And when it ended, I understood all the hype. It deserves all the hype.
I just loved it.
Rhysand!!!! *heart eyes*
Feyre has survived, but her soul is broken. Unable to overcome the trauma she suffered under Amarantha, her mind relives each horrible moment in her nightmares. She should be happy and enjoying the life that is healing all around her, but darkness lurks in her heart. When Rhysand calls in their bargain and brings her to the Night Court, she’ll find that she isn’t the only broken one.
I have been the biggest skeptic about Sarah J. Maas. But I learned never to judge an author by one series alone. (I DNFed Throne of Glass). But let me tell you, this book, this book right here blew me away. The writing wasn’t the best in A Court of Thorns and Roses, it was repetitive and clunky at times. But whatever faults the first book had, this one made up for it.
Feyre goes through such a detailed and excruciating downfall. Her doubts and fears are woven into the story so intricately, and watching her development through it all was phenomenal. And seeing the two fey lords react differently to her brokenness was reflective of the real world when some people just don’t understand how to help someone through trauma. I love watching characters fight to overcome their own boundaries, and the more struggle the better. Sara J. Maas did this perfectly with Feyre taking each small step forward and sometimes sliding backwards. But the best part of it all, was watching her have someone stand beside her the entire way and not fault her for those steps back she took.
I am the hardest to sell on romance, but A Court of Mist and Fury hit all the right chords for me. A friendship that was built on sarcasm and slowly developed trust, evolved into a passionate romance. There was no instant love, every bit of the relationship was fought for and properly introduced in the story. By the time Feyre chose to move forward with the romance I was bouncing on my feet waiting for it. This is the romance I enjoy reading about. And I need the next book to figure out what happens!
The end of this is incredibly gripping. Love is a powerful force that once found and unleashed, has no boundries. This book. The end. Shows this perfectly.
Absolutely amazing and Rhysand has my whole heart
I love this book so much. It has great characters and the world is interesting.
Holy Smokes!!!!! This story is incredible! And that ending! I am dying of excitement right now! What a truly fantastic series!
This story is so exciting! So much happens. And the feels! There are so many aspects to this story, and you feel so much with each of them.
I love all of the new characters introduced, Amren, Cassian, Azriel, and Morrigan, they are amazing. I love watching Feyre grow! She is beauty and strength and watching her learn about herself, about her powers, it is thrilling. I love all of the twists of events, and there are many.
This story is exhilarating! War is here. And it is about to get crazy! What an ending!!! So anxious to read the next book!
This book is soooooo much better than ACOTAR. I loved that Maas made Feyre a normal human being. She was traumatized from under the mountain and instead of just pretending she got over Maas had her process it like any other person would. Feyre had PTSD after all the craziness under the mountain and Tamlin really annoyed me because he didn’t help her through it at all. I love the Night Court and the the Court of Dreams.
This series is really engaging. That said, I don’t often like how they change love interests partway through a series.
Still, I do like Rhys better than Tamlin. But it made me feel like book one was a complete waste and now Tamlin looks like the villain just for being terrified and making REALLY crappy decisions.
But honestly, I just felt sad for Tamlin. He’s broken too.
This second in the series is a good pay-off to what I thought were incomplete, unsatisfying relationships in the first book. Still, while I enjoyed the main character’s strength and resilience, she’s too emotionally immature to be a credible mate to a centuries-old Fae Lord.
LOVE IT!!!!
Y’all my heart can’t handle this! I am loving this series but it is seriously an emotional roller coaster! Feyre and Rhys are life. I can’t wait to continue with this series!
Such a gripping continuation
Mass is brilliant in her writing. It gripped me in book 1 and has continued to the end of book 2. I couldn’t put it down. Feyre and rhys, rhys is just a wow character. They meld and play so well together. Beautiful characters in these books. Bring on book 3.
So Feyre is not only immortal now, but likely has all sorts of powers she needs to master—and war is coming so there’s no shortage of drama.
After doing an excellent job of getting Feyre’s feels for Tamlin across in book 1 and the beginning of book 2, Maas did an even better job of conveying the moment their relationship changed. I felt the moment Tamlin moved into ‘unforgivable’ territory for her, felt her feelings completely change.
I don’t want to say too much more for fear of spoilers so I’ll just say this was an epic read and I’ll definitely be reading on in the series.
4 stars.
Note:
I listened to the audiobook; the narrator is fine, not my favorite at all but good enough.
I lost count of how many times I have read this now, but I love it just as much every time. The world of Prythian is lush and beautiful and I have to remind myself it is a place I have only read about, not actually been. I love all the characters, especially because they are all imperfect people. I’m starting to realize I like a good mix when it comes to a book being plot or character-driven, and this book falls perfectly into the middle of those.
“I was his and he was mine, and we were the beginning and middle and end.”
Um I think I just found one of my favourite books of all time.
Wow. What a sequel!! And I must say, Feyre is one of my all time favourite heroines to date. She’s real. She’s honest. And she knows love. Then we start with Rhysand. I am so happy the author decided to go down that path. Without giving any spoilers away, I didn’t feel a connection with Tamilin but instantly did with Rhys and I was so thrilled to read how the romance story grew.
Now on to the amazing fantasy imagination – Loved it. What a world. What an adventure. The action didn’t stop. It had me gasping, it had me losing sleep so I could read “just one more chapter” and it’s a story that is strong and powerful. I would give this book 10/5 stars if I could!
This is not the type of book I would read but it was recommended so I did. I’m now on book 3 of the 5 book series. It has everything. You will not be able to put it down. The Best!!
