The seductive and stunning #1 New York Times bestselling sequel to Sarah J. Maas’s spellbinding A Court of Thorns and Roses.Feyre has undergone more trials than one human woman can carry in her heart. Though she’s now been granted the powers and lifespan of the High Fae, she is haunted by her time Under the Mountain and the terrible deeds she performed to save the lives of Tamlin and his people. … lives of Tamlin and his people.
As her marriage to Tamlin approaches, Feyre’s hollowness and nightmares consume her. She finds herself split into two different people: one who upholds her bargain with Rhysand, High Lord of the feared Night Court, and one who lives out her life in the Spring Court with Tamlin. While Feyre navigates a dark web of politics, passion, and dazzling power, a greater evil looms. She might just be the key to stopping it, but only if she can harness her harrowing gifts, heal her fractured soul, and decide how she wishes to shape her future-and the future of a world in turmoil.
Bestselling author Sarah J. Maas’s masterful storytelling brings this second book in her dazzling, sexy, action-packed series to new heights.

This book is AMAZING!! I have to admit, after the first one I wasn’t super eager to read it, but it passed all of my expectations. The author did a FANTASTIC job using the first book to set up new themes in this one, and the characters are so beautifully created that the reader can’t help but like them. I definitely recommend reading this book, even if you weren’t a fan of ACOTAR!! 🙂
As this book was BIG, I decided to write some thoughts along the 4 days (yes, 4 days!) it took me to read! This isn’t a traditional review, just some thoughts I had!
I don’t know how everyone else felt about Feyre but I hated her at first! I wanted to give her a back hander! I know she had gone through an ordeal but she was acting like a spoilt child.
Saying this, I was still bloody gripped to this story. The; OMG what is going to happen?More Rhysand please! All these thoughts are flowing through my mind aplenty! I guess the hating on Feyre also fuelled my enjoyment in a weird kind of way. I want to see what powers she has and what could she do with them. Would she really blow Tamlin off. Omg alllll the questions!!!!
But then…….
Around 40% I started warming up to Feyre. When someone opens your eyes to what is really going on, its mind blowing….and that’s what Rhys did for me…
And then I stopped taking notes! I was simply gripped by this book! I can’t even put my thoughts down and I know I will be thinkimg about this book for a long time!
That ending though!
Love this series.
The second in the ACOTAR series. I couldn’t put this book down. Feyre goes through an amazing transformation as her powers manifest and she realizes where she is meant to be.
The second installment of this book brought a couple of surprises that I found I loved. I enjoyed the first book, but I really liked the second. Can’t wait to see how it wraps up.
Wonserful book!
Sarah J maas does an impeccable job at creating loveable characters, page turner action and adventure, a dreamy love life, and wonderfully built world. Must read. No author will change the way you look at books like this one.
Favorite book hands down
Awesome read!!! Love the characters and the world Sarah created!!
This was my most anticipated book of this year and it did not disappoint. I love it when life is kind like that!
Holy moley I feel like I haven’t slept in a week, but I guess it’s only really been since last Tuesday (okay, I slept a couple hours, like two a night!).
In other reviews, I saw a lot of fear of a love triangle. Just stating for the record: this is not what I consider a love triangle. In my opinion a love triangle has to be unrealistic and sensationalized. But in life, we have more than one love interest. We change and our relationships change, and I think the author does this very well.
I love, loved this book.
‘A Court of Mist and Fury’ is book two in Sarah J. Maas’ A Court of Thorns and Roses series. Reading previous book is required before this. This ends on a cliffhanger that will cause you to rage and scream.
After defeating Amarntha’s trials to free Tamlin and the Spring Court, dying being turned into a Fae, Feyre finds herself in a very dark emotional place. A High Lord fiancé who doesn’t understand what is going on inside her, a Court that whispers and stares at her and a bargain with the High Lord of Night Court to deal with. Feyre is struggling with what it means to be High Fae, trying to come to terms with killing innocent Fae and what she had to endure while Under the Mountain.
I’m just going to start off by saying I HATE TAMLIN! I called it, if you’ve read my review for ACOTAR you would know that I said that I dislikes Tamlin and wanted Rhys to be the love interest. I knew that Tamlin was a manipulative d!ck, but I did not see how far he was willing to go to prove that.
Holy freaking hell, so, so, so much happens in this book. I have absolutely no idea where to start or what to write. I am utterly and completely speechless. I still reeling from all the events that took place. On one hand I want to write about each and everything that took place, but than on the other hand I don’t want to write one things about it as it will spoil your experience and well as ruin the journey you will take if you read this. So I will say this, buckle in cause you are in for one heck of a roller coaster ride. The emotions you are about to undergo will leave you completely exhausted, you’ll go from happiness to anger and back, you’ll be shocked, awestruck, flabbergasted, surprised and absolutely furious. But it’s a ride you are going to want to go on.
My heart broke on several occasions in this book, the emotions that poured off these pages were so raw and powerful. I felt each and everyone of them to my very core.
Feyre’s character has some major growth in this book, I feel as if when she become Fae she became her true self. Although there was times I still felt that she was too much of a push over and easily manipulated. I did not like how she first reacted with Rhys, she never seemed to give him a chance. Yes she says she’s in love with Tamlin, but considering he kidnapped her in ACOTAR she never treated him the way she does Rhys when he comes for the bargain. Plus he is only trying to help her.
Rhysand, oh you sexy, sweet, misunderstood self sacrificing Fae male. I knew you would be the one to break me, but I had no idea how much you would. You took a part of my heart in ACOTAR but now you just own it whole and completely. You may plan the evil, sadistic heartless High Lord, “But I see you”.
The Kingdom of Dreams is perfect, the members Mor, Cassian, Azriel, Amren. The banter and family closeness of this group will having you wishing you could jump into the book and be one of them. Their disregard to the rules of formality was hilarious. They treated each other as if they were all family, the bickering, teasing, mocking and playfulness is an enjoyable sight to see.
I don’t know where to start with the Spring Court, but I hope you all go down in a fiery ball of hell. Except for one particular handmaiden and nephews, she may be left alone. This court are so manipulative and full of lies and deceit.
I may have gone off track with this review and started rambling, so I am going to end it here and just say one finally thing, go and get this series and read it NOW. Yes this may only be book two and there is still a few more, but after what I have read and experienced so far I can tell this is going to be a series to remember for a long while. With that being said I am off to read book three, I desperately need to know what kind of trouble Feyre is about to ran on Tamlin and his Court.
“And I wondered if love was too weak a word for what he felt, what he’d done for me. For what I felt for him.”
Book two in a series can sometimes fall flat or not be as good as the first book but that was absolutely not the case in this series. This book was SO GOOD! I loved it even more than the first one. The world building, character depths, and just over all plot line is amazing. When I say I couldn’t put the book down I mean I brought this thing with me everywhere and was reading it ever free second I got. So much happens in this book that once you start you have to know how it all unfolds.
Not only was this book PHENOMENAL but I think I also happened to pick it up at the perfect time. Sometimes when I am very stressed, overwhelmed, or just having a tough week reading can feel like a chore instead of a joy. I have had quite the week but surprisingly every time I opened this book I feel like for those minutes (or hours ) I am completely immersed in the story. That has been the very best part of reading them. To be able to write a storyline in such a way that the reader can escape reality for a bit and fully enjoy it, bravo to Maas I cannot wait to start ACOWAR and see what happens next.
I would totally recommend SJM’s Court of Mist and Fury! This is where I actually developed a crush on a fictional character 🙂 I’m trying to gush without giving anything away. Great and easy read (meant for a more adult audience).
When I finished reading, I wanted to start at the beginning again.
Ok. I now love Feyre and Rhysand and of course the entire inner circle. Especially the bat boys.
Elain is a useless bitch! you can’t change my mind! well at least not at the moment.
What a thrilling follow up to the first book in the series. I really enjoyed the character growth and development of Feyre and Rhysand. I also loved learning more about the Night Court and the other characters we meet there.
I’ll be honest, before reading this book, I wasn’t sure why all the hate on TikTok for Tamlin, but I do get it now. This story does show the difference between love and obsession. I think the biggest difference between Rhysand and Tamlin, is the fact that Rhysand can want Feyre to be safe, but still want her to be herself. He wants a partner, while Tamlin seems to want a pet. And as with most wild things, Feyre did not do well in a cage.
I was not prepared for all the plot twists at the end of this book. In fact, I was so shocked and enthralled, I had to start book three immediately! I’m very anxious to see how the rest of this story plays out and am very thankful to my fellow BookTokers for putting me on this adventurous ride!
This book GAVE ME LIFE. It was so much better, personal growth-wise, than the first book (even though I liked that one too) that I fangirled through the book. I read it in a day because it was perfect. No shame, no regrets.
Team Rhysand and Team Night Court!
My Rating:
Type: Series – Book2
Genre: Fantasy, Young Adult fantasy, Magical World
Primary Characters: Tamlin, Feyre, Rhysand, Cassian, Azriel, Nesta, Mor, Amren, Lucien
Narration: Limited third party
This is a wonderful sequel. Loved this book more than the first one in the series. Loved every minute of every page. I don’t really know what to say in order to adequately express how stunning this book is. Exquisitely beautiful, joyous, slow burning romance, action and adventure all at the same time. I adored Sarah’s writing and the amazing worlds and characters she creates.
Plot
Plot continues with the after math of the incidents under the mountain. With Ferye being Fae and struggling with acceptance for her actions and terrible deeds she performed to save Tamlin’s people along with Tamlin’s fierce overprotectiveness. it’s a story of self-discovery. With a big war looming around, Rhysand and Ferye navigate the web of politics, passion, and dazzling power.
Character development
It’s not just a story about love, but also self-discovery. Ferye’s character development is simply PHENOMENAL. Through her new adventures, she grew. She accepted and embraced all the good and bad.
Rhysand, the mysterious dark high Lord embodies highest standards for fictional male. His dark allure, arrogance, astounding power, wicked-cunning mind, playful nature, kindness, selflessness, insecurities all in equal parts and playing a role whenever necessary made him a unique, precious epitome of pragmatic person.
Secondary characters – New characters of the Night Court were definitely my favorite. Skilled Cassian, observant Azriel, fierce Amren, splendid Morrigan, delightful Tarquin, thoughtful Varian made the tale more marvelous.
Relationship development
In the beginning of this series, I understood where Tamlin was coming from and why he was so protective of Feyre. It’s not a love triangle. The transition was slow and accepting. Relationship development between Ferye and Rhysand evolved slowly and naturally. The mutual respect, honesty, support for each other, amazing friendship, snarky banter, slow burning sparkling chemistry always kept a goofy grin on my face. The romance was heart touching.
Everything about “A Court of Mist and Fury” turned out every bit as great as I anticipated. The Language took a totally different turn in the last parts of the book making it a more of contemporary world, but it’s only in bits and pieces and can be ignored.
FAE AWESOMENESS specially from the NIGHT COURT CREW, heart-pounding suspense, CRAZY ACTION SCENES and a SEXY ROMANCE that me made swoon SO HARD. The adventure was on point. This book resonates with me so wonderfully; it just filled me with awe from within, leaving me drowning in an eternal swirl of emotions. This book left me in ruins and made me confined to my study room for a long time.
All I say is this book was such a treat. I suggest you go and treat yourself.

The curse is broken.
The masks are off.
Ferye is now a high fae who has been made by the power of the seven high lords.
Tamlin wants to keep her safe no matter the cost. But Ferye is slowly losing herself, often finds it hard to engage with people, drink, find joy in painting as she used to. No one notices that darkness slowly swallowing her.
On the day of her wedding, she realizes that she doesn’t want to spend forever feeling empty so she begs whoever will listen to help her, get her out.
Rhysand comes to take her, after all, he gets a week with her because of the bargain they made Under the Mountain to keep Feyre alive.
Rhys notices that she’s thinner and shadows seem to follow her. He tries to get her to his side, convince her to help him. Because war is coming.
Tamlin doesn’t want Feyre out of his sight. But Feyre feels trapped as if she’s back in her cell with the walls pressing in and darkness her only companion. Lucian tries to make Tamlin agree to let her out, let her train, and figure out her powers but Ianthe convinces Tamlin that doing so will send the wrong message. Locking Feyre up made her fall deeper into darkness and Rhysand couldn’t keep her there.
Feyre had no one on her side in that court who’s willing to fight hard for her. But she has Rhysand. The only person who tried and succeeded to make her feel anything else other than empty and hollow. Feyre learning that war is threatening both realms agrees to help Rhysand. To figure out her power. Her part in saving the world.
I love Rhysand for all he’d done to keep Feyre from falling into a deep emptiness. He teased and taunted and did everything to get any emotion out of her. He kept her sane. And when he needed the same, she was there for him. They both, (all of them actually, Mor, Azriel, Amren, Cassian) gave a lot to save their world. The mortal queens were such bitches, excuse my language. They even bother to try protecting the people they thought were “disposable” they only wanted to protect themselves and have their own powers. I liked how Nesta and Cassian annoyed each other, can’t wait to see more of them. I’m not sure how Lucian is the right choice for Elain. And I want to see what happens to the others as well. Mor and Azriel, Amren and Varian. The Illyrians camps. What else is in store for the characters.
And that ending?!
This book will wreak you, enrage you and mend you. You’ll never want to leave their world.
The first book, A Court of Thorns and Roses, was fantastic, but the second book? Even better. It turned so much of ACOTAR on its head. Literally. I went back and re-read the first book after finishing this one, amazed at what is woven in there, hidden in plain sight, but doesn’t click until you read this second one, and understand the deep world building and characterization that went into this series. Rhys is hysterically and darkly funny at times, in both books, especially when you see him for what he really is.
It’s truly amazing storytelling with so many twists and turns. Could not put it down. The characters are deep, fleshed out, and evolving. The world is rich and the writing is descriptive and lush. The end felt a little rushed, and there were some scenes in Hybern that were confusing. Many characters in them, lots going on. Had to re-read those a few times. But an incredible follow up to the first book. Better even, than the first, which is saying a LOT. Love this series!
