The seductive and stunning #1 New York Times bestselling sequel to Sarah J. Maas’s spellbinding A Court of Thorns and Roses.Feyre has undergone more trials than one human woman can carry in her heart. Though she’s now been granted the powers and lifespan of the High Fae, she is haunted by her time Under the Mountain and the terrible deeds she performed to save the lives of Tamlin and his people. … lives of Tamlin and his people.
As her marriage to Tamlin approaches, Feyre’s hollowness and nightmares consume her. She finds herself split into two different people: one who upholds her bargain with Rhysand, High Lord of the feared Night Court, and one who lives out her life in the Spring Court with Tamlin. While Feyre navigates a dark web of politics, passion, and dazzling power, a greater evil looms. She might just be the key to stopping it, but only if she can harness her harrowing gifts, heal her fractured soul, and decide how she wishes to shape her future-and the future of a world in turmoil.
Bestselling author Sarah J. Maas’s masterful storytelling brings this second book in her dazzling, sexy, action-packed series to new heights.

This one was virtually un-putdown-able. I found myself forgoing precious hours of sleep to tear through this hefty volume. It has all the entertainment value of a fun YA fantasy, with a surprising layer of grit and depth.
My one reservation is that the host of side characters were far more compelling than the slightly-bland narrator. Regardless, the universe and magic system were more than enough to fill the story with color.
I really enjoyed the first book, but this one was AMAZING! I couldn’t put it down and I can’t wait to see what happens in the next book. I absolutely LOVE everything Sarah J Maas writes!
Finished A Court of Mist and Fury last night and really enjoyed it. I found the first book in the series, A Court of Thorns and Roses , a bit meh. It was basically ‘Beauty and the Beast with fairies’ and progressed fairly predictable until the end. This second book started off like it was going to be ‘Persephone and Hades with fairies’ and then went in a more quest-like direction.
Has anyone else finished book 2 yet?
Out of all the books in the series, this one is my favorite. Feyre is an unstoppable force in this book. Romance, hesitation, vulnerability…so much to love.
A book worth re reading? While this is a tough question as I have reread many, many, MANY books, I’ll pick a book a read last year and has stuck with me so much. ACOMAF for short. It is book 2 in the A Court Of Thorns and Roses series (ACOTAR). I thought i loved the first book (ACOTAR)…until I read this one. I had a bit of a book slump going and the first book was a gift from my hubby in my distress of having gone months and no book grabbing me. I gobbled it up and ran to buy the second. And let me tell you..it had been some time since i had read a book in less than two days (Busy with house, kids and hubby)..but with this book I couldn’t stop, I’d read every chance I literally had. And when it was over it shattered my whole world. It gobbled up my soul and I LOVED IT. I will read it again and again before the third one comes out this year because i need more Rhysand and Feyre in my life.
A Court of Mist and Fury
Finished the first book in this series and can’t wait for the next book to drop! Also the movie is in development, so already dreaming up my ideal cast. Hmm…Oscar Isaac as Rhys, and Domnhall Gleeson as Lucien and…that’s as far as I got.
Maas ripped my heart apart before she put it back together only to tear it to pieces again. This book is a wild, heart-wrenching ride that often left me breathless. There are no words to describe it. It is pure intense heartbreaking and soul satisfying magic. Don’t miss it.
Note: Not for young adults. I wouldn’t let a teenager younger than 18 read this.
One of the best books I have ever read. No sooner did I finish than I wanted to start all over again.
A beautiful fantasy world and a breathtaking romance. It’s pretty clear that Maas has grown a lot as a writer from her first book, Throne of Glass, and from when she began writing A Court of Thorns and Roses, which was substantially before A Court of Mist and Fury came out. In that time, it seems that she’s gotten a real knack for plot twists and building up both characters and worlds, and I think that really shows here. I loved ACOTAR when I read it, but in retrospect it had some issues. I think ACOMAF resolved a lot of those while having very few of its own (in the large scale), and the third (and final) book in the series has a lot going for it. I just hope it lives up to that potential.
Second book in a series of possibly three books. Ms. Maas stepped up big time in this second book. The plotline moved quickly and the storyline has developed to a level where I am now willing to pay for the third book being released in 2017. If you’ve read the first book and have debated continuing with the series, it’s worth your time to do so.
@kristindorsett and others, I devoured this one! I’m still in awe at how everything turned out in book 2. What a twist! #TeamRhysand all the way
OMG, be warned – this book ends with you shouting, “NOOOOO!!!!!”
I discovered in book 1 that Rhys was my favourite character. Nothing has changed except that has become more intense! Just wow!!
Feyre grows into herself in this book. She’s still a bit self-absorbed, but hey, a lot has happened so she’s allowed. And given the right circumstances, she starts to bloom.
The love scenes in book 1 were a bit short and sweet. Maas makes us wait for them in this, but boy, they’re worth the pay-off! STEAMY!!
And the fight scenes…
And the tension…
And..and…and…
EEP!
I really don’t want to say too much for fear of spoilers.
Just read both books NOW!
My favourite book of the year is right here.
Magick, mystery, cunning, twists, right is wrong and wrong is right; it has it all.
(*goes to download the next book which is mercifully out*)
An amazing YA fantasy series. I liked court of thorns and roses. I loved court of mist and fury! It is more thrilling, more entertaining, more amazing. I thought Tamlin is best when I read ACOTAR but I was soo wrong! He is nothing compared to Rhysand. I think Feyre and Rhysand make the best couple ever. Can’t wait for the next book.
4/13/19: Hot holy hell… I need some time to let this all sink in. Review to come soon.
4/16/19: Ok, so let’s talk about this book because I was so enthralled, so in love with it that when I finished this behemoth and thought I’d start one of the other books lined up in my April TBR (and I tried, believe me, I did!!!), I finally gave in and picked up Book 3, the even bigger behemoth, and haven’t been able to put it down.
Can I just say that this book went in swinging and didn’t stop until the very last page. I was constantly enraptured by each turn of events, every scene, every character. It’s such an intricately woven story, layered upon layered with threads all leading to one big, climactic point sometime in the future, and it just keeps you mesmerized needing to know what happens next. Things are just constantly moving and constantly happening, you are compelled to keep reading to keep up and find out what happens next.
The way that Feyre was so broken and dead inside after Under the Mountain and all that happened there in Book 1. The way that this was likened to “Sleeping Beauty” and how she came to finally be awakened by her prince charming, who was maybe a little expected but then again not really. The gradual rebuilding of her, piece by piece, was so subtle and yet so powerful.
Then there’s Tamlin and Rhys. Ugh… how do I do this without spoilers? One of them was so damn horrible, controlling, awful, while the other … ohhh the other. I’m a sucker for a valiant and worthy Hero, and the other was all that and so much more. So. Much. More.
The ending of this book had me on pins and needles, dying inside, devastated, until the very last possible moment that revealed what was really going on and it literally had me squealing in excitement and relief and a rather deep desire to find out what happens next.
This is seriously a series I wish would be made into a TV series like Game of Thrones. It would undoubtedly be just as widely adored and well-received.
This series is possibly my favorite of all time. They are fantastically written, detailed, and FUN. They suck you in with the realistically written, deeply realized characters and incredible world building. I can never put them down, and each book gets better and better. If you think you knew what was going on after reading the first book, buckle up for some serious twists and turns – this book takes the series to a whole new, vastly more amazing place. I was totally unprepared for what was going to happen, and I LOVE IT. Can’t recommend these highly enough – they are absolutely the BEST and most addictive reads!
I admire Sarah’s ability to draw the reader in with action packed romance all while building a world so detailed you can almost see it! This series brings out all the emotions!
I devoured this book. And not just because this second book in SJ Maas’s “Court” series gets seriously steamy. I just couldn’t get enough of the amazing new cast of characters, the incredible world building that goes on in this book, and the powerful metamorphosis that leaves Feyre changed both inside and out, overcoming some of her most annoying qualities from the first book and ending in her becoming the confident, powerful woman we always knew she could be.
Plus seriously, this book gets steamy. I love how Maas has managed to still echo the Beauty and the Beast story in an unexpected (and definitely better) way. This has to be my favorite book by SJ Maas so far.
I am not a sjm lover. However after hearing so much hype about this book I decided to give sjm another chance. I wasn’t disappointed about this. I really love the new characters such as Mor and Amren! They’re easy to read about and I find myself wanting to hear more about them. Rhys has quickly become a favorite character of mine and I very much did not like him in the first book. Overall I would say give the second book a chance if you weren’t a huge fan of acotar like me!
I really cannot say enough about how much I adored this book. While I loved the first book, A Court of Thorns and Roses, the second installment quite simply set the standard which every other fantasy book I read will now be measured against. Maas took her characters (and readers) on a wild and unpredictable ride and I loved every single moment of it.
The world-building in this series is gorgeous and evocative. I really felt as though I was thoroughly immersed in Maas’s world. The characters are amazing. Feyre is a strong, intelligent, and loyal heroine the reader will instantly root for. And Rhys. Oh Rhys. Rhys is quite simply one of the best characters I have ever read. The chemistry between him and Feyre is ELECTRIC and he is such a captivating and compelling figure. He really stole the show for me with each word and deed.
This book is really perfection. The dialogue is beautifully crafted, the plot complex and intriguing, and the ending leaves you eager for more. If you love fantasy or really just want to read a FABULOUS book, I highly recommend this series.
Loved this part 2 of A Court of Thorns and Roses. I enjoyed getting to know the characters better and overall it hooked me and I read it several times, can’t wait for #3!
