loved the entire series!
I was a little dissapointed that this was such a short book compared to the others in the series, but it was still a good read. Looking forward to any new books coming out!
Actual rating 3,5/5 stars:
Before you start wondering, let me tell you… I am madly in love with the ACOTAR series and I was really excited for this book. I am a huge fan and I love Sarah J. Maas’ characters so much.
As I was reading this last instalment to the series I figured that nothing important actually happens in this book. Yeah, I am aware of the fact that it is not a full novel and it’s just a novella. But still, why waiting so long for the new book when it doesn’t contain any valuable development of the events?!
My favourite main characters Feyre and Rhysand have become this married couple that’s life is not the main focus anymore. They’ve done their part and now are happily living together, building a new home.
During the whole book Rhys’ mind is full of sex. I have nothing against that but I wished there was more of his character besides his hotness and wit, because I know he is capable of a lot more.
Feyre on the other hand was really amazing. She finally pursued her dream and started painting again. I loved this.
But honestly, the only thing that shook me REALLY was Cassian and Nesta. Just putting their names in the same sentence brings me joy. Three books and a half down and they are still nowhere and still fighting. Nesta is still a mystery and everyone is so tired of it. Feyre finally makes a decision for both Nesta and Cassian which was a great move, in my opinion.
I cannot wait to see what happens to them. I am the most excited for them.
We’ll see what happens next.
Thanks for reading! 🙂
Adore this author and the universe she created.
Not as good as the first 3 but still amazing book!A Court of Wings and Ruin A Court of Thorns and Roses A Court of Mist and Fury
Good character building, not enough plot.
I really loved the fact that this book wasn’t all about the action, but about the aftermath of the war. And the fact that the war isn’t truly over, but being regathered to go another round. In this book, the kingdoms are taking their breath and gathering their dead from the ashes. They are trying to reform and celebrate their win from battle. And it is Solstice. Feyre and her sisters are finding themselves, Cassian is trying to whip his Illyrian warriors into shape, Amren is learning to be a Fey, Mor is well, she is Mor. And Az has sides to him that we get to see in this book. I won’t spoil it. Rhysand is ever the leader. He shows his cruel nature in one breath but his forgiving heart in the next. It is why he can rule over the Nightmares AND the Dreams.
This novella was not at all what I was expecting or hoping for. Definitely a filler story of how the troops are all living/surviving post war. One of the character’s response was surprising and honestly quite sad. I liked the different character perspectives. Though the novella was good the story had so much potential to be more but it just felt half finished. The narrator did a nice job.
Love this series!
it’s a good book. most ppl dont understand that it’s a novella or a bridge in between books. This book centers around the winter solstice in the night court. So we have a week leading up to that so theres not gonna be much action. yes we saw them get ready for the event which could be like Christmas for us. We see the inner circle rebuilding their lives. I thought it was a good read and loved everyone’s story. I didnt see much action but I expected it not to have all the action that the other books had.
Another great addition to Feyre & Rhysand’s story! Though not a full-length novel, this is still a lovely glimpse into the lives of all the ‘Court’ characters, and will be enjoyed by fans of the series. I particularly loved the teaser at the end of the book, and now I can’t wait for Nesta and Cassian’s story. What a ride that’s going to be!
Not enough story:(.
While it’s nice to spend time with these characters again, this is sort of a filler book without much of a point
So I realize that my rating is a bit harsh because I didn’t hate the book, but I didn’t like it either and since I’m sure it’s going to receive a bunch of biased and ‘fan girlish’ reviews I decided to be brutally honest and blunt about my opinion. So here it comes.
There is no question that the author can write and has a solid, established style. I like her writing; her stories are a different question. I was really excited for this story because I came to love the characters in the second and third story, especially Azriel and Cassian. I even loved how it started, the whole idea that you see the aftermath of a war and the consequences on the people was really great because usually we don’t get to see those in YA/NA fantasy. And as I said it started out great, I enjoyed the first couple of chapters. I also loved to see some chapters from Rhysand POV because one of my main problem with the third book was that I couldn’t connect with him. While he had a huge presence and an important role his personality didn’t really came through for me. So it was great to see into his head a little bit.
Now for the things I didn’t like. I realize that the book was just a novella, which basically has the purpose to breach the events between the third and the fourth book and give a small glimpse of the characters everyday life still for me a book with 200+ pages about absolutely nothing was a bit too much to tolerate. I’m not greedy and I understand that the author had some personal problems along the way so if you need to, then push the next book back a year rather than use this one as a smoke screen. It was pretty disappointing because while I didn’t expect any big thing to happen in it I thought there is going to be something in it at least. Instead it summarizes the individual characters’ personal problems that we already learned of in previous book. Sorry, but that’s my opinion.
As for the characters: Rhys and Feyre were the everyday lovey-dovey couple, their story was a bit boring if I may. I love Cassian and Azriel but unfortunately Azriel is not in the limelight here. Cassian is more in the forefront and I love his role with the Illirians but I hate where his role heading with Nesta. I never liked either of the sisters and sorry buttercup, but Nesta was and always will be a nasty B. I can’t feel sorry for her but I think her character is the most complex among them.
I don’t even want to analyze it anymore. I didn’t like it plain and simple.
It was good, I just felt like nothing had happened to advance the storyline when it was over.
Love this series! I couldn’t put it down. Well thought out, engaging and entertaining !
Such a good series!
It’s not as good as the first three books of the series, but I’m sure it’s necessary to get us up to speed on where we are with all the characters. Overall, I’d recommend it and hope the story advances more with the next one.
This whole series is amazing! I look forward to others from this author.
I love the character swapping every chapter. And the love from Rhys and Feyre is even stronger, like a father caring for a child. (Always worried)
Well… that’s exactly how I look at it from that perspective.
The whole court adores Feyre and the sudden change from Rhys. Bad to good! And that’s thanks to Feyre!!!
However there weren’t any adventures or danger which was sad but this book is like a normal life after the war. Just like an extra chapter, and then the real story carries on to the other book. Hope its got some adventures.
