Kilpack, Carla Kelly, and Jennifer Moore.Other books in the Timeless Regency Collections:AUTUMN MASQUERADEA MIDWINTER BALLSPRING IN HYDE PARKSUMMER HOUSE PARTY
I loved all three of the novellas in this collection from some of my favorite authors.
Carla Kelly is the best.
I absolutely love all three of these authors and they’ve presented a wonderful collection of Christmas romance, set during the Regency era.
I really enjoyed these books.
I think this has been my favorite so far of the Timeless Regency Collection. (I’ve read 5 of them to date). So maybe it really gets 4+ stars. First, I’m always a sucker for Christmas stories so there is that. But all three of the stories were good. I enjoyed all three authors (and their other books I’ve read as well). Not sure I can choose one of the stories over the others as a favorite. I think I could have enjoyed all the characters in a full length novel.
SAINTS AND SINNERS: I felt a little uncomfortable with with modesty in dress issue as it sounded as if men are not responsible for their actions but I can adapt to what would have been thought in a different time period. Still enjoyed the story. I loved the Eloise stood up for herself when Mr. Burke acted inappropriately. And I enjoyed that it was Mr. Burke who in the end set things straight between Eloise and Neville. (I don’t care for the name Neville though).
THE CHRISTMAS ANGLE: I might have a soft spot in my heart for Master Able Six. What is not to love with him? Born in the worst of circumstances, living with the name Durable Six and yet making the best of what he has been given. The best moment though is when he rejoices over making a mistake. Too sweet. I also love that he found ways to teach others that had learning limitations in a way that made them successful while he had no struggles learning himself. He could still see other’s abilities and didn’t rely on the examples that had been set for him when he knew they were bad.
THE PERFECT CHRISTMAS: I could relate to wanting to provide the perfect Christmas for everyone and yet it rarely goes fully as planned. I think my favorite part of this story is that the characters were willing to set aside their societal norms and make the best of their circumstances. I love that they sat on the floor to eat and had a snowball fight. I love that they all found joy in their less than ideal Christmas and that they were truly appreciative of the help.
Sweet and clean. Mild violence when Eloise defends herself against Mr. Burke’s unwanted attention.
A great way to escape the stress of Christmas holidays with these three different plots novellas.
Three novellas set in the country during the Regency Era tees up a pleasant few hours of reading pleasure. I especially enjoyed the second and third stories, small gems of the genre!
Anything written by Carla Kelly is worth your time. She has original characters written with a depth of intellect, emotion, and integrity. Her stories are interesting and keep me reading and waiting for her next novel.
Very up &down.
