4.5 Stars
A Cottage Wedding is the second book in Leigh Duncan’s Heart’s Landing series. I absolutely loved the first book, A Simple Wedding, and was really excited to read this one. The story follows Jason Heart, the handsome descendant of the town’s founder, and current owner of the Captain’s Cottage, and Tara Stewart, a junior writer at Weddings Today magazine who has been sent to Heart’s Landing by her boss to find dirt on the Heart family and debunk its romantic legends. This could devastate many local businesses and ruined the town’s reputation, but Tara really needs this promotion and is willing to do whatever her boss says to get it. It is love at first sight for Tara and Jason, but will he be able to forgive her when he learns that she came to his beloved town with the intention of ruining its reputation?
This is a heartwarming and entertaining romance, with wonderful characters, a delightful setting, and a sense of community. Leigh Duncan is very talented in her descriptive writing. The rich details made it easy to picture the idyllic seaside town of Heart’s Landing, with its captivating history, quaint shops, and friendly residents. Tara and Jason were easy to like and relate to. Jason was my favorite character. I loved that he wasn’t afraid to wear his heart on his sleeve. Tara was strong and genuine. My favorite thing about her was that she was never afraid to admit she was wrong about something. They were a lovely couple, and the epilogue was very sweet and touching. I enjoyed this book immensely and look forward to reading more books by this author.
Thank you to NetGalley and Hallmark Publishing for the opportunity to read this ARC in exchange for an honest review.
I never really thought about wedding magazines or destination weddings, most likely because I never married. The premise for me was unexpected, but fascinating. I loved the town, the story behind it, and that the whole town was involved in making it the number one spot for a wedding of a lifetime. I thought the story flowed well, and I loved that it started from Jason’s point of view. I was a tad irritated at Tara wondering if she would have the moral fortitude to do what was right instead of what would get her ahead in her job, but I know in reality people are faced with the same type decision. After finishing the book, I looked up the first one in the series so I can read it. I expect there will be more books in the series, and I will be reading them.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advance copy of this book from Hallmark Publishing for an honest review.

Repost of my original review at Amazon.com.
This was a beautiful, charming, romantic story taking place in the picturesque town of Heart’s Landing, Rhode Island. The Captain’s Cottage is a mansion overlooking the Atlantic ocean complete with a widow’s walk. It is know for all of the weddings it holds along with the town’s help. The beautiful mansion has been passed down through the Heart family and it is now run by Jason Heart. All or the characters were so much fun from Jason and his cousin Evelyn, to the mean Regina Charm, and to Tara who works for Regina.
I liked how captivated Jason and Tara were with each other from the first time they met, as if it was love at first sight for both of them, even though Tara is there to knock Jason’s livelihood out of first place in her company’s magazine, Weddings Today. If she does not find something wrong for her article her boss, Ms. Regina Charm has let Tara know she will no longer be working for the magazine.
It was fun trying to figure out how the story would end and I was not disappointed at all and I was even surprised which is nice. I received an advance copy of this book and I willingly chose to write an honest review.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advance copy of this boo. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
A Cottage Wedding, by Leigh Duncan, is available at booksellers 6-2-2020. Cottage is a Heart’s Landing Novel from Hallmark Publishing. I’m crazy about all things Hallmark. This series revolves around the perfect town of Heart’s Landing, the top wedding destination spot. I’m in love with the town and all it’s residents. Our current couple, Tara & Jason, are no exception. Cute, sweet, instant attraction, trying not to fall in love (which never works). Their story is adorable and I think you’ll love it. If Ms Duncan would send me directions to Heart’s Landing, or even GPS coordinates, then I’m gone there to stay. Cottage gets a rare, for me, 5 stars & deserves every one.

Jason Heart prides himself on helping brides make the most of their wedding day. Tara Stewart is trying to please her boss and work her way up to a promotion in her journalism career. You’ll enjoy the love story that builds between Jason Heart, owner of The Captains Cottage and journalist Tara Stewart from Weddings Today.

I really enjoyed Josh and Tara’s story. The town of Hearts Landing and the the history is sweet. I like all the characters. The story line was predictable, but it was fun to see how the two characters fell in love. I was irritated with Tara. She was being dishonest, but wouldn’t admit it to herself. I like happily-ever-after’s and this didn’t disappoint.
Thank you to NetGalley for the opportunity to read and offer my honest opinion.
Tara Stewart had just been handed the toughest assignment of her career so far at Weddings Today magazine. Her boss, Executive Editor, Regina Charm had issues with Heart’s Landing the magazine’s current Top Wedding Destination. Heart’s Landing had been named America’s Top Wedding Destination multiple times. It is now time to evaluate the top ten destinations once again. Tara’s assignment was to go to Heart’s Landing, not to honestly evaluate it, but to search for dirt to sabotage it. This didn’t sit well with Tara but her job, let alone a promotion, depended on it. Regina Charm’s engagement ended shortly after flooding occurred at her and her fiance’s wedding venue in Heart’s Landing, Captain’s Cottage. Regina bitterly chose to blame the town and not her fiance for her heartbreak. No, Tara did not like this assignment one bit. Upon her arrival she was treated like a princess by the townsfolk and she fell in love with the town. She also fell in love with the man who the townsfolk chose to show her around, Jason Heart, descendant of the town’s founding couple. Jason also runs one of the town’s premier wedding venues, Captain’s Cottage. Considering her assignment one would not expect smooth sailing ahead though.
Jason Heart left a lucrative career in Boston and returned to Heart’s Landing when his father became ill. Upon his dad’s death Jason stayed to run Captain’s Cottage with his cousin Evelyn’s help. He loved his job and he loved Heart’s Landing. What he didn’t love was his girlfriend Clarissa who lived in Boston breaking up with him on the eve of of the arrival of Weddings Today’s representative who was staying ten days in town to evaluate Heart’s Landing for placement in the top ten wedding destinations and hopefully retaining the Number One designation. The town needed first place again. He is determined to do his best to help. He, along with everyone else in town, was surprised when Tara Stewart showed up instead of Weddings Today Executive Editor Regina Charm. Fresh from his recent breakup with Clarissa and with the town’s first place on the line, he was not looking for another relationship. But there was something about Tara. They just clicked. Could he handle falling for Tara with everything else going on?
A Cottage Wedding by Leigh Duncan, the second book in her Heart’s Landing series, is a delightful story. I really liked the whole atmosphere of the town. The names of the shops fit so well for a wedding destination. How cute is Forget Me Knot Florist and Dress for a Day? The characters are fun and I really liked how they supported each other. Tara and Jason are a special couple. They seem made for each other. I look forward to more stories in this series.
The second book from Heart’s Landing doesn’t disappoint. Tara has one mission for her boss. Debunk all the legends that Heart’s Landing is built around. When she shows up a day early Jason steps up to the plate to show her around. With secrets and the town’s number one destination wedding ranking hanging between them, the last thing they need is to let their attraction grow.
We are back at Heart’s Landing with another sweet, touching , and heartwarming story. All things Hallmark and if you are a “junkie” of their tv channels, like me, you’ll be a very happy person.
This time the story centers around Tara Stewart and Jason Heart.
Tara has been sent by her magazine editor, Regina, to dig around town and tell the world that Heart’s Landing is not what it claims to be. More for personal reasons than anything else.
Jason, a believer of everything romance and descendent of the founding family, is assigned to convince and show Tara that the town is really what it claims to be.
In addition to the main plot, the reader gets a glimpse of the town’s history.
This was a delightful story for an afternoon of leisure and one that even though the characters had to overcome some obstacles, finished with a HEA. Thus leaving the reader with a smile on their face.
I was entrusted a copy of this book by Hallmark Publishing. The opinions expressed are solely my own.
Tara Stewart has one chance to get the promotion she has been working for but she’s shocked at her boss’s expectations for the assignment. When she shows up in Hearts Landing to research her article she will do so with a secret that could not only destroy the entire town, but inevitably, her shot at her own happy ever after.
Jason Heart’s family history set him up to be at the forefront of helping his town to become the number one wedding destination location in the country. But one adorably sweet woman holds the towns future in her hands; a woman Jason is quickly falling for. So how will Jason react when he finds out the secret Tara has kept from him and the entire town?
Sweet book, I just wish this author would allow a tiny bit more (even light) physical expression of love in her stories. It seems she limits them to 2-3 kisses per book and when a story ends in marriage you expect a little more from a couple in love.
I received an ARC and voluntarily offer this review.
I truly enjoyed reading it!
It’s a sweet, refreshing & moving romance. Another great book in the series.
Tara, is a writer for a wedding magazine.
She has finally been given a writing assignment in Heart’s Landing. She was also promised a promotion if she
delivers the story wanted by the editor.
Jason, is the owner of the famous
Captain’s Cottage, the top wedding
venue.
The town is expecting the editor of the
magazine. It’s time to be reviewed for
an article about who is the best wedding venue.
But the town soons learns that the plans
have been changed.
I loved everything about this
Must Read Story
I received an advanced copy of this book from NetGalley and the publisher in exchange for an honest review.
I really enjoyed this book. I read another book by this author – A Simple Wedding, and it was just as good. They are both set in the same little town – Hearts Landing – the number one wedding destination. There isn’t any indication that they are a series, but with recurring characters in the books, they are. The story line is clean and PG and perfect for Hallmark enthusiasts!!!
In this delightful continuation of the Heart’s Landing series, the town is on edge and in full preparation for evaluation for top wedding destination of the country by the Weddings Today magazine. Competition is fierce to retain top honor status due to the magazine editor’s cancelled wedding which she blames on the town. Her surprise twist is to send junior reporter, Tara Stewart, a day early and with an undercover assignment to undermine the entire town. Captain’s Cottage owner, Jason Heart, acts as tour guide and historian while attempting to determine the truth of the investigation and protect the town.
The second edition from Leigh Duncan showcases the town, its history, people and businesses while navigating an emotional roller coaster to a satisfying conclusion. Readers enjoy a vicarious visit to the town and its past with rich details and relationships provided.
I received a complimentary copy of the book without obligation. This review is my opinion
I enjoyed this book. This follows A Simple Wedding and takes place in the same setting, with the same people, but it can be read independently.
Jason Heart is the owner of the Captain’s Cottage in the town of Heart’s Landing. His dad has recently died and Jason had to take over the job many years before he expected to. Heart’s Landing has been named America’s Top Wedding Destination for several years in a row, and it is time for the competition to happen again. The entire town is involved in weddings, from cakes to food to dresses and flowers and music.
Weddings Today Executive Editor Regina Charm has told the town that she is handling the evaluation herself this year. A year ago, Regina had planned her wedding in Heart’s Landing. Unfortunately, she and her fiancé called the wedding off at the last minute so there is some concern that she will not fairly evaluate the town.
Tara Stewart works for Regina at Weddings Today. She is given the task of doing the evaluation and it is made clear to her that if Heart’s Landing loses its #1 ranking she will have a job. If it keeps the ranking she will be unemployed.
Although it is pretty clear that the HEA can only happen if the town keeps its ranking, there is plenty of challenge to be overcome. Tara winds up with her own love story. It was fun.
I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
A Cottage Wedding by Leigh Duncan is everything you would want in a love a first sight story. I received an ARC of A Cottage Wedding for an honest review and I can genuinely say that it was an amazing story. Leigh Duncan has once again written an incredible story with wonderful characters and a beautiful setting. I enjoy all the love cliches that she intersperses throughout the story. I love how the different parts of the chapters are written from the perspective of the main characters, I love seeing things from both of their viewpoints. A Cottage Wedding is the second book in the Heart’s Landing series and I enjoyed it just as much as I did The Simple Wedding. I love how she takes women who are dreamers and intermediaries, and changes them into stronger women than they were before. I love the metamorphosis in both Jenny, for The Simple Wedding and Tara in A Cottage Wedding. I love all the descriptions of all the places in Heart’s Landing. A Cottage Wedding is the story of Jason Heart, heir of Thaddeus Heart founder of Heart’s Landing, and current owner of the Captain’s Cottage and Tara Stewart, journalist and junior writer for Weddings Today, the magazine that has ranked Heart’s Landing was the number one destination for weddings. Tara’s boss, Regina Charm was originally supposed to conduct the interviews and survey for Heart’s Landing, but with her own Heart’s Landing wedding cancelled she tells Tara that she is not sure she can be objective, since she secretly blames the people of Heart’s Landing as the reason behind being jilted. Tara also has another mission, disprove the legend of the love story between Thaddeus and his wife, Mary and she will get the promotion that she has always dreamed about or get fired. It is love at first sight for both Jason and Tara, even though neither one gives into their feelings or reveals their true feelings to the other. Neither one want to jeopardize the rankings of Weddings Today. The livelihoods of everyone in Heart’s Landing relies on retaining their number one ranking in Weddings Todays, and Jason feels that pressure. I love all the shop owners in Heart’s Landing.
Of course, Tara finds something that she originally believes exposes the truth behind the folklore. Jason sees the draft and expects the worse and immediately puts distance between himself and Tara. I love how Leigh developed the romance and relationship between Jason and Tara. A Cottage Wedding is filled with the bittersweet and poignant moments that I have come to love and expect in Leigh Duncan stories. I loved the plot twist and how everything gets resolved. I loved the happily ever after and how Jason did everything he could to make his wedding to Tara everything she dreamed it would be. It was an incredible story that I could not put down. Leigh Duncan once again proves that she is an amazing storyteller. I love that every story includes a recipe. So looking forward to the next story in the series.
A Cottage Wedding by Leigh Duncan is the second in what is becoming an outstanding series called Heart’s Landing.
In Heart’s Landing, everything points to love, romance, and successful partnerships, however Tara Stewart is being sent by her boss at the magazine she works for to see if the whole atmosphere is what it is all cracked up to be.
Luckily the awesome Jason Heart, the owner of Captain’s Cottage, is able to change her outlook on life, and maybe even change her future?….
Reading this relaxing romance, one knows the formula and how things will end, but isn’t that the glorious part? I love this series, (I enjoyed the first book as well) and the respite that it gives me from reality. I look forward to further books in this series.
Thank you NetGalley and Hallmark Publishing for this ARC and in return I am submitting my unbiased and voluntary review and opinion.
I was given a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. Tanya works for Weddings Today magazine and is sent to do a story about Hearts Landings wedding venues, thus far they have been the #1 city for Weddings in the country. Sent by her disgruntled boss to find out if the romantic stories about the founder of the town are true or not, she meets Jason a descendent of the town’s founder. Jason has inherited the cottage a wedding venue where Tanya is staying while she is in town. Will they fall for each other? Will her article take Hearts Landing out of the top spot for weddings and any chance of having a relationship with Jason? Or will it ultimately ruin her career? Really looking forward to reading more of Leigh’s books, very enjoyable read.
A Cottage Wedding is an heartwarming, heartfelt, sweet and touching story. The characters Jason and Tara are wonderful. This is a wonderful well written story. It has a delightful storyline.
Thank you NetGalley and Hallmark Publishing for letting me read this story.
I read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are of my own.
