I love reading this story and how strong Sophie is and how she deals with what is going on with Jake. I love the ending I recommend this book!!!!!
This is book one in the Eden Empire series. It’s Jake and Sophie’s story. I really liked this book. What a great start to the series. I loved the opposites attract of Sophie and Jake. She’s so cheery and light where Jake is pessimistic and dark. She loves Christmas and Jake hates it. I’m looking forward to reading the other books in the series and seeing how the family drama eventually plays out.
Sophie and Jake have a past. They were friends in business school and one night they ended up in bed together. The next morning Jake sluffs it off like it wasn’t a big deal leaving Sophie heartbroken. Eight years later Jake is back and this time he wants to buy her grandmother’s department store. Sophie is still reeling from the loss of her grandmother and determined to keep the store up and running. Mindy, Sophie’s sister, wants to sell. A bombshell is dropped at the reading of the will that changes everyone’s plans. Misunderstandings happen, feeling get hurt and whole lot of family drama ensues.
I received this book in exchange for my honest review.
This is the first book in The Eden Empire series, it is a sweet and steamy second chance romance. It can be read as a standalone romance, I read book 2 first but I suggest reading in order.
Sophie has recently lost her grandmother, the family matriarch, wanting to keep the business going but her sister wants to sell. The man that won her heart in college and broke it just as fast, wants to buy the company but while spending time together they grow closer and when the reading of the will happens, family secrets come to light. A fast-paced story that is quick to read.

I Can’t Wait for Book Two!
This was my first Karen Booth title, but it won’t be my last. I enjoyed it so much!
The Eden sisters are interesting, beautiful, determined, intelligent women. And they’re rich! Really rich. So this story isn’t about a Prince Charming rescuing them – no.
The author writes beautiful scenery, touching family flashbacks, and sexy scenes.
Thank you Karen Booth for the review copy of this title. Wonderful in so many areas.
I don’t often give five stars, but this story is worth all five!! I can’t wait for book two in this series.
4 1/2 STARS!
With the kick-off her brand new Eden Empire series, Karen Booth brings us the story of the first Eden sister as she tries to figure out a way to keep her family heritage while conflicting circumstances try to take it away. This book laid a great groundwork for the coming books with a big secret revealed toward the end that added another dimension for us to look forward to. Really enjoyed it!
Sophie Eden will do anything to be able to keep her grandmother’s department store running as the huge success she made it over the years. She not only has to contend with her sister over how to proceed, but now she has a familiar face from her past knocking at her door wanting to arrange an immediate buy out.
Jake Wheeler remembers Sophie fondly from their years spent at each other’s side in business school. He believes their connection give him a foot in the door that will have him snagging this deal before anyone else knows it’s even in play. Sophie however, isn’t portraying a warm fuzzy feeling when he reaches out to her. Turns out she cared more than he even realized back in the day and isn’t quick to forgive him for stomping all over her heart!
Karen Booth’s A Christmas Temptation is the first book in her Eden Empire series. The story sets up the series quite nicely with mistrust, greed, and revenge waiting to be served up.
Over thirty years ago, Victoria Eden created Eden’s, a large three story department store in Manhattan. At the height of its success, Eden’s had seventy six stores in twelve countries. Now, with the downturn in retail, only the original store is left. Dying unexpectedly, Victoria’s vast estate is expected to be passed on to her granddaughters, Mindy and Sophie.
Sophie Eden has spent the past several years working side by side with her grandmother, helping her run Eden’s. For her, Eden’s is in her blood and working for the company is what she was meant to do. But her older sister doesn’t have the same feelings. Mindy has her own successful company, and once the will is read wants to sell the company and become a billionaire. Still reeling from the sudden death of her beloved grandmother, Sophie is inundated with calls and gifts from investors looking to buy Eden’s. They aren’t looking to take over running the store. They’re looking to buy the building and the land it sits on. But Sophie is determined to keep the store and continue her grandmother’s legacy.
One of the investors looking to buy the store is Jake Wheeler. Jake was Sophie’s best friend in business school and also the man who broke her heart. The two haven’t spoken to or seen each other in eight years. But now Jake is back, acting like they’re still friends and that nothing happened between them.
Mindy is convinced Jake is the one who can get Sophie to agree to sell. When Sophie goes to their grandmother’s upstate New York estate, Mindy tells Jake where to find her. A snowstorm blows in, trapping Jake and Sophie for the weekend. The two reconnect as friends and much more. With the two wanting different things for the department store, their budding relationship is already strained. When trust issues surface, the two will have to decide if they should follow their hearts or their minds.
A Christmas Temptation is a truly enjoyable story. I was surprised to find the story to be a sensual read. I loved every second of it. Sophie LOVES Christmas and the holiday season. Jake, not so much… “I know you’re going to think I’m crazy, but I hate Christmas.” To Sophie’s shock the man of her dreams has a heart two sizes too small. But Jake soon discovers that Sophie is like a beacon of light, “You make me feel hopeful.” Prepare to fall in love with A Christmas Temptation.

Rating: 4.5
This was ok. The problem was Sophie was too nice. Other than that it was a decent read.
I adore a second chance. Combine that with the magic of Christmas and I’m just filled with warm fuzzy feelings. I love Sophie. She’s working so hard to hold her family legacy together and almost no one seems to appreciate what she’s doing or what it’s costing her. Jake both broke my heart and frustrated me. His experience growing up was utterly tragic and it was easy to empathize with his lack of trust. However, his shabby treatment of Sophie made me repeatedly want to shake some sense into him. As the start of a new series, this book has all the secrets and betrayals necessary to hook this reader. I can’t wait to read the rest.
I received a complimentary copy of this book from the author.
Karen Booth never disappoints. I loved this holiday romance and it had a twist I didn’t see coming!
