One to Keep by Ev Bishop – 5 stars!
So far, I’ve only read one of the stories in this collection and it’s a wonderful one. The price of this anthology is worth it for just this one book but you also get 6 other stories by some great authors.
I actually read One to Keep when it was published individually in December 2015. It made me laugh, brought a few tears. My review, shown below, is from back then.
Sophie has always felt like she’s the odd girl out. Her tastes can be a bit quirky and she loves food and cooking. She’s healthy and fit so she doesn’t mind being a bit curvy.
Jesse is still recovering from his divorce and he’s surprised to figure out that he actually had a good time with his family on Christmas day. He still has no interest in a long-term relationship but when he sees Sophie across the room at the pub he frequents he is drawn to her.
This story captivated me from the very beginning and I didn’t want to put it down. Ev Bishop writes characters that are interesting believable. Sophie and Jesse have to get through a bunch of misunderstandings, and a meddler that caught me by surprise, before they get to their HEA but reading this story was pure enjoyment.
I wish I could be better at writing reviews of books I really like; for some reason books I love are much harder to review than ones I don’t enjoy. I never feel like my reviews do the book justice and this book is one I really enjoyed. Ev Bishop writes fantastic stories and I can’t wait for the next one!
In this set I enjoyed 3 out of 7 books . THE CHRISTMAS SPAine. This book’s story line was sad & made me mad . I loved Heidi’s character. I loved how Heidi stood up for Connor. I loved Connor’s character. My heart broke for Connor. I didn’t like Heidi’s father I wanted to tell him off myself. I loved the ending. ONE TO KEEP: I liked this book’s story line. I liked Sophie’s character. I liked Jesse’s character. I liked the ending. CHRISTMAS SURPRISE: I loved this book’s story line. I loved Margo’s character. I loved George’s character. I loved Mark’s character. I felt sorry for Mark. I loved the ending. NOBODY’S CINDERELLA: This book’s story line was okay. Darcy’s character was okay. I liked Chase’s character. I wished this story focused on the chemistry, passion, & romance then I would have connected more with this story. TWO HEARTS FIND CHRISTMAS: I’m sorry I only read the Prologue & stopped. I stopped reading this story because Josh & Nina are not believable. Josh hears Nina being assaulted by 2 guys & chases them off then asks Nina if she’s gonna press charges Josh should be encouraging Nina to press charges. Nina for women just assaulted should be upset, in pain, crying not kissing Josh. This story & it’s characters were unbelievable. I’m happy this introduced me to Ev Bishop.
