There are two things Bailey Walsh loves: Christmas and helping animals. Working for the Silver Bell Falls pet hospital should mean she’s living her dream. And she would be if it weren’t for Dr. Maguire, the pet hospital’s very own grinch, who’s acting anything but merry.Gavin Maguire just wants to look after the animals in his care, not have to worry about putting up holiday decorations. But when … decorations. But when you live in Silver Bell Falls the holiday season comes with high expectations—expectations he’s more than happy to ignore even if it costs him his assistant.
Just as Bailey is getting ready to leave the pet hospital without a backwards glance, she finds herself snowed in with Dr. Grinch. But somewhere between saving a litter of puppies and waiting for the storm to pass, they find more than just holiday spirit.

Samantha wrote A Christmas Rescue which is book four in her Silver Bell Falls series. First I am going to say I am so excited to get another Silver Bell Falls book. I love the town of Silver Bell Falls. Everything about screams quaint and cozy and warm. I love the people in the town they just are so warm and caring. I want to live in Silver Bell Falls. Silver Bell Falls is the perfect town for a Christmas romance.
In A Christmas Rescue we meet Bailey Walsh and Gavin McGuire. I love their chemistry. Bailey works for Gavin and has given him the nickname Dr. Grinch. In the beginning he does seem to be a Grinch but as in all of Samantha’s books there is more than meets the eye. Once these two get together things heat up. I found myself laughing and having heartswooning moments as well as my heart breaking when I heard Gavin’s back story. My heart really went out for Gavin. I also loved the pet aspect of this story. I love animals. They are just so cuddly and sweet. There is something about a man who takes care of animals especially dogs. Bailey and Gavin definitely have chemistry and I believe they are perfectly matched.
Samantha Chase did a great job taking us back to Silver Bell Falls and giving us another great Christmas romance. I loved the secondary characters in the story. I loved the setting and plot. I just felt my heart soar as I read A Christmas Rescue. Something about Christmas time and snow and romance that make a great story. Samantha Chase really captivated me from page one and kept me captivated throughout the entire story. I loved A Christmas Rescue so much that I had to read this story a second time. It just leaves you with that feeling you get at Christmas and I just love that. Grab your copy and fall in love with A Christmas Rescue and the town of Silver Bell Falls and Samantha Chase like so many others have.
Bailey works for Gavin, who is a vet and he hates Christmas, too bad Bailey loves Christmas and in the heat of the moment she quits her job. The moment she finds out that Gavin is going to help a dog who is about to have puppies, she is in to help. Little does she knows they both going to be stuck together for a few days. Does this time will help her to convince Gavin that Christmas is a great Holiday?
NOTE: A CHRISTMAS RESCUE was originally released in the anthology SNOWED IN FOR CHRISTMAS
A CHRISTMAS RESCUE (Silver Bell Falls #4) by Samantha Chase
REVIEW: A CHRISTMAS RESCUE by Samantha Chase follows the acrimonious relationship between veterinarian Dr. Gavin Maguire , and office receptionist Bailey Walsh. The holidays are just around the corner, and Silver Bell Falls Pet Clinic has lost the Christmas spirit thanks to Dr. Gavin Maguire or Dr. Grinch as his employees have started to call him. Unable to stand Gavin’s Scrooge-like behaviour Bailey and the staff decorate the office for Christmas only to be threatened with their jobs within hours of arrival. Unwilling to stand down, Bailey hands in her resignation but quickly finds herself as the veterinarian’s assistant when a homeless lab goes into labor at a downtown shelter, and a snow storm shuts down Silver Bell Falls. What ensues is the quick building romantic relationship between Gavin and Bailey when Bailey becomes snowbound in Gavin’s apartment, and the potential fall-out as Gavin’s past continues to eat away at his heart and his soul.
A CHRISTMAS RESCUE is a sweet story of acceptance, understanding, love and moving forward. The premise is engaging; the romance is passionate-the $ex scenes are implied and fade to black; the characters are colourful, dynamic and stubborn. Samantha Chase invites the reader to Silver Bell Falls where love truly does conquer all.
This book is just another reason why I LOVE Samantha Chase’s writing so much, her fabulous Christmas stories. Truthfully, I think Christmas romance is one of my all time favorites. I first read this fabulous as a part of an anthology release last year, and let me tell you, it has ALL the feels.
A Christmas Rescue is the 4th book in Ms. Chase’s Silver Bell Falls series. I have read most of the books the Silver Bell Falls series, and thus far, I think this is my favorite, maybe it’s the puppies, maybe the characters, but most definitely the story. I really like “love unknown” stories. Bailey and Gavin both have an attraction to the other, but either will admit it to the other. Silver Bell Falls is a town steeped in Christmas traditions. Gavin, he is new to town. When he had the chance to take over the local veterinary clinic, he could not help moving there, in spite of his feelings for Christmas, and all it represents to him and his past. Holly LOVES Christmas and everything the town does to represent the holiday. Holly and Gavin butt heads about decorations in the office to the point that she quit her job over them. The evening she is giving Gavin her resignation an emergency call comes in regarding a severely pregnant dog having trouble with the labor. Holly goes with Gavin to bring the dog back to the clinic. When a severe snow storm hits Holly and Gavin are stranded together with an in labor pregnant dog, and then her puppies. While they are stranded, and here it is again, they really start to communicate. Gain tells Holly why he feels the way he does about Christmas, and eventually they both admit their feelings for the other. But Gavin still holds back and Holly and she confronts him about it, and when he won’t commit… sorry ladies, no spoilers. I will say I wanted to Gibbs slap Gavin in the back of the head.
Thank you for reading my review. If you like Christmas romance, then this one is definitely for you. So, what are you waiting for? Go his that purchase button and YOU can enjoy this book as much as I have.
Samantha Chase’s A Christmas Rescue touched my heart. Dr. Gavin Maguire has purchased the vet office where Bailey works. He’s great with the pets but not with the owners. By not allowing the girls to decorate the office, he’s earned the nickname “The Grinch”. After getting snowed in with Gavin after helping him with a homeless man & his pregnant lab, Bailey sees another side of Gavin.
I loved the interactions between Bailey & Gavin. They came across totally honest & realistic. Gavin couldn’t believe Bailey would quit her job over not being allowed to hang Christmas decorations. He couldn’t see the benefit, just how it made him uncomfortable. However, Bailey never thought to ask if there was a reason why he didn’t want to celebrate Christmas. The part that I really loved was Gavin giving his time to helping the homeless & their pets. Pets give unconditional love& many times people can’t help the circumstances that caused them to be homeless. This was a wonderful story showcasing the true Christmas spirit, not just the decorations & presents.
Read October 2018 as part of a three book box set.
A Christmas Rescue (Silver Bell Falls #4) by Samantha Chase packed a bit of a punch to the #feels. I’m not gonna lie, our hero of the story is not very likable for most of the story, imo … until he is 🙂 which actually doesn’t happen until towards the end so I’m a bit middle of the road on this one. I understand Gavin’s character as not being a people person but this is a very short read and imo, he spent way too much of the story at odds with Bailey. Because of that, I honestly didn’t enjoy this story as much as I could have.
So I’m gonna take a minute an explain the could have: For me, there are certain characteristics of a story that cannot be fleshed out properly (or rather I should say that they are normally not) in a short read. Gavin’s inability to #people (lol) is something that is ingrained in his personality at this point. He’s a grown man after all. Those kinds of *thing* need more story if you want me to *believe* in the turnabout etc etc etc. So that’s why the story just didn’t wow me at all. But it wasn’t a bad story. It just needed more , imo.
Inspirational!! I loved the small town holiday romances that leave you wishing for a little of that Christmas magic in your own life. That is this kind of story. It was fun and witty and heartwarming. Bailey and Gavin had there problems but in the end they were perfect for each other. It made my heart happy when I was finished this story and what else could you ask for in a holiday romance!
