A Child’s Gift by Linda Warren is my first book from Ms. Warren, and I’m still trying to wrap my head around how fabulous it is.
Will Dusty find his forever home?
Jericho Johnson
Jericho “Rico” Johnson is a man in his forties that has had a tough life. His mom was a drug addict; he was raised by his great-grandma, dealt with gangs, and ended up in jail. But now he has been trying to make a life for himself in Horseshoe, Texas. Rico has been beating around the bush (for two years) to ask Anamarie on a date. He finally does on the day that they met Dustin “Dusty” Miller. A little boy that they both immediately love. Rico grows a bit from being this brooding character to something else to finally being a nice guy.
Anamarie Wiznowski
Anamarie Wiznowski is a woman in her forties that is one of many children in the Wiznowski family. She has lived in Horseshoe, Texas, her whole life. Ana is a baker and has been working in her mom’s bakery since she was a teenager in high school. It’s because of Rico that she stands up to her mom and finds a child that she can love with all of her heart. The one thing that I didn’t like about her is that she didn’t trust Rico enough and treated him similar to how her mom did.
Four Stars
A Child’s Gift by Linda Warren is the newest book in the Texas Rebel series, and it is about a ranch hand finally getting the family and life he deserved. Rico and Ana have both been through a lot of twists and turns throughout their lives, but they made it out okay. I am giving this a rating of four stars and recommending it to everyone who reads contemporary romance novels with cowboys.

This was a beautiful, heart warming, heart wrenching story! I absolutly loved it! I read it from cover to cover enjoying every minute of Jericho (Rico) and Anamarie’s story and how they both ended up helping Dusty. The emotions of gaining and losing a child were very real and raw in this story.
The emotions of foster care and not feeling like a part of the family were a big struggle that Rico had to overcome in this story in order to move towards the future. I also liked seeing Ana stand up to her family and start to live her own life and dreams. I loved reading about the town and how they all helped each other, especially during a time of need.
I can’t wait to read the next book in this family series and hope Rico and Anamarie will be mentioned so I can read more about their relationship.
I received a copy of this book complimentary for blog and social media review. All opinions are my own.
This book is the true meaning of Christmas. My heart breaks for Dusty. What that little boy had to go through in his young life. It makes the ending in this one all the more sweeter. Watching Dusty blossom with Jericho and Anamarie just warmed my heart. Jericho is another character that will break your heart because of his past he believes he doesn’t serve a family or future that he wants. The reason I say this is the true meaning of Christmas is because the importance of forgiveness, family, and good will towards others. I;m not gonna lie this book has me tearing up a few times. It’s a book that pulls right at your heartstrings. It’s a perfect book to read during the holiday season.
3.5 Stars
Though this is the eighth book in Linda Warren’s Texas Rebels series, it’s the first one I’ve read, and I was not at all lost. Although, now I’m tempted to topple my TBR by adding the first seven and getting to know the rest of the men at the Rebel Ranch.
From the moment he steps onto the page, little Dusty steals the show. His story is heartbreaking but with the resilience children seem to inherently possess, this little boy makes the best of his situation.
It’s Dusty who brings Rico and Ana (who have been circling around taking flirtatious conversations to the next step). But when their little family is threatened, can love hold them together?
A Child’s Gift is about family in all shapes and sized and all that goes with it. The fall-on-your-knees-in-despair disappointments, the overbearing members who make you want to pull your hair out, the happiness of home, and the unconditional love given freely.

My Thoughts on A Child’s Gift
This is such a sweet read! Little Dusty is precocious and such a sweetheart you can’t help falling in love with him. And then, of course, Rico is fun and full of life while Ana is definitely a wonderful gal with plans of her own.
Rico loves Anamarie and has for some time. But of course he doesn’t believe he’s good enough for her, or more to the point for her family. He has no family of his own. No one that he claims that is. There are people who would claim him as a family if he’d break down his walls that he’s put up.
Definitely a great read that will leave you feeling warm and fuzzy inside. Read it to see what happens to little Dusty after Rico is appointed his guardian. See if Rico can keep Dusty out of foster care. But most of all see if Rico can let down the walls to his heart and let Ana see who he truly is and how he really feels about her.

A Child’s Gift is a feel-good story. I love that it had a small town cozy feeling and ranch life. The Rebels, Jericho and Ana, were amazing. I couldn’t put this book down. If I had one complaint, it would be the romance; it wasn’t bad but I wanted the characters to connect more. When I felt they were figuring things out, then something would arise to cause dissension between them. Even though I would have preferred more romance, I still enjoyed the story and would love to it see become a television movie.
PS: This story reminded me of Carolyn Brown’s books; therefore this book is one I would consider a must read. I don’t think you will be disappointed.
A Child’s Gift
A Child’s Gift is about a young boy but also about Rico and Anamarie.
Dusty is left alone after his grandmother passes away. She was caring for him while his mother is away. Rico is giving custody of him temporarily. Will he be able to care for him by himself?
Rico has been visiting Anamarie at her family bakery and has becomes friends. Her family, especially her mother doesn’t approve of him. Will they be able to work things out for they be together and help Dusty?
I loved how caring Rico was and hard working. Loved the Rebel family. Such a great part of the story. I hope to read more about them in future books.
There is so much to Anamarie. Her relationship with her mother was a hard one. That is a very big part of the story.
I did feel bad for Dusty at times. Read the book to find out why.
I received a complimentary copy of the book from Sara with Harlequinjunkie.com and Prism book tours. This book review is my own opinion.

MY REVIEW
I have been a fan of this authors for many many years. The very first romance book I ever read was by her. I was so happy to be approved for this read on netgalley. A Child’s Gift is such a compelling ,heartwarming wonderful read. The plot grabs your attention and heart at the same time. It brought about so many emotions in me. I fell in love with little sweet Dusty right from the start. My heart broke for this sweet child who went through so much at a very young age. I found this book to be well written, realistic and very believable. I admired Rico right from the start for jumping to help Dusty from the moment he found him. My heart also broke in two for Ana and all she had been through . She was already struggling with her life when she to jumped in to help sweet Dusty. This book was full of great Characters and I am going to look for some of the others that have the Rebel family in them. Many thanks to the publisher , author , and netgalley for a ARC copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
