As far as I’m concerned Selina is blind beyond belief, especially when love is staring her in the eyes. Considering all, Selina is naive, selfish and more concerned about preconceived ideas than thinking about the real problems. Alex did not deserve the pain that she put him through and if I was Alex, I would have moved on even if I couldn’t have found another woman I wanted to marry. Selina needed to see the real truth and pain she was causing with her behavior. Our hero, Alex is more than patient and kind. I loved this man, but our heroine is something else.
So this was my first time reading a book by Bridget and I must say she did not disappoint with this story. I l9ve how in depth she got and how can you not love the characters. It was as if we were transported there. Fabulous read and I want to read more. I give it 5 stars. I voluntarily read and reviewed this book as an Advanced Reader’s Copy
Bridget Barton’s A Charming Lady for the Intriguing Baronet is a beautiful Regency romance book from its historically accurate “meet-cute” to is take on how preconceived notions impact a relationship to how faulty starts can be overcome. Perfectly written, Selena and Alexander’s story has a well-crafted plot and great supporting characters. Just precisely what’s desired for this kind of story and superbly executed by a master of the genre. But for the fact that I’m literally dictating this review to my husband from my hospital bed I could go on and on with praises. The book definitely deserves it. Since I can’t do that I will simply note that the book is most definitely one to read, and it is easy to highly recommend.
A Charming Lady for the Intriguing Baronet by Bridget Barton
The Seymour family came to her mother sister and husband the Crauford’s to find a husband for their daughters Selina and Ophelia. Selina met a gentleman walking to horses who she thought was a groom his name was Alex the families went to a ball given by Sir Alexander Russell, the sixth Baronet of Chesterfield. It was there that Selina discovered that her Alex was Sir Russell. She became very angry that she had been fooled by Sir Russell and read him the riot act then her sister came to get her so that there aunt Dorothy could introduce them to Sir Russell. As she was introducing them to Sir Russell Alex told him that he had already met Selina by the river. This made Selina matter she had been to learn what happens in this very good book you need to read the book. It is a clean romance.
The story begins with tension filled pages, rebuke, chastisement and embarrassment. The lead female character, Selina, is twenty years old and has a younger sister, Ophelia, who is sixteen. Selina is an unorthodox young woman who loves to draw in nature more than pursuing singing or piano. She speaks to servants as friends and respects them. However, Selina has a sharp tongue, jumps to conclusions and is quick to anger. She meets Alexander Russell, 6th Baronet of Chesterfield and her life turns upside down. The chemistry between Selina and Alex is undeniable and strong. Selina meets Alex under unusually casual circumstances. They exchange first names only. Alex was exercising his horses when he came upon her. Because Alex was dressed in commoners clothes, Selina mistook him for stable groom. Later at a ball she realized he was the Baronet who lived adjacent to her Aunt Dorothy and Uncle Edmund where her family was staying. Selina immediately became angry at Alex because when they met, he did not tell her he was a baronet. She felt all men with a title were selfish, arrogant and privileged. She disdained titled men. She thought Alex was just like the rest of his class and she felt he lied to her. So, she gave him the cold shoulder and removed herself from him. Alex was indeed perplexed by her. But still he perused her despite their many unfortunate encounters. This is a delightful story full of angst, shock, jealousy, rumors, self-awareness, pity, forgiveness and love. I enjoyed reading it and do recommend it.

Bridget does an amazing job bringing this read together beautifully. Fantastic job Bridget, thanks for sharing this awesome read with us.
I love this story and the main characters: Selina and Alex…
They are searching a love marriage… but they prefer a common person with respect a peer… But not all is as it seems…
A voyage toward the happiness!
This is a delightful, clean Regency romance. As usual, the Lady Selina and the Baronet Alexander are star crossed. The fun is seeing how they figure out getting uncrossed! The dialogue of the first chapter is rather stilted but if you persevere the rest of the tale is most enjoyable.
I have mixed feelings about this book. Selina is way over the top most of the time. I can’t imagine Alex (or any other man) would put up with it. It was however, an interesting introspection into nineteenth century society. The one thing Selina and Alex have in common is their respect for those of lower classes. Of course, there is the HEA and a good epilogue. It will make you think a little better about Regency era stories.
Selina Seymour believes the men of the Ton are arrogant liars. While she is outside sketching, she mets a casually-dressed man walking some horses on an estate near her aunt’s house and thinks he’s a stable groom. He’s friendly & warm and she hopes to see him again. When she meets him a ball and finds out he’s a baronet, she’s furious because she thinks he lied to her.
Alexander Russell, Baronet Chesterfield, is out walking horses on his estate and comes across a lady sketching. She’s charming and he’s very attracted to her. When he meets her again at his ball, she’s very cold and he can’t figure out why. What will happen next?
I Highly Recommend this thoughtful novel on how pre-conceived ideas and beliefs can blind us to reality. Can Alex prove to Selina that he really is that kind & friendly man she first met? Or will she let her stubborn mindset and the troublemakers in her life ruin everything?
