What a great read! This book has everything, great characters, suspense, travel, steam and twists. Hadley is a woman who has her life all mapped out until her boss sends her on a sabbatical with no explanation. Her cousin, Sophie needs her help and off the to San Juan Mountains they go. However, things start heating up and getting strange when they find the body of a young boy and Noah enters their world. Noah is investigating who is trying to frame his client as claiming to be a writer and working on a book. When the chemistry between Hadley and Noah heat up it adds another layer to this exciting story. I enjoyed reading this story, it was well written with the adventure and journey that these characters find themselves on. Enjoy!
I voluntarily read and reviewed this book as an ARC from Hidden Gems.
A new author to me. I enjoyed this read. The story is about Noah and Hadley. Hadley is a serious go getter-hard worker. She has her goals and life mapped out. Her boss makes her go on a sabbatical but doesn’t know his reasons why. Her cousin Sophie asks her to come along to the mountains so she can get pictures and info for her blog. One thing Hadley wasn’t expecting was to find the body of a teenage boy. The girls quickly meet writer Noah, who’s on vacation to write his book. Sophie talks Hadley into looking for clues on who the killer is, since the sheriff seems shady and his mom is afraid they’ll never find out who killed her son. Lots of twists and turn. Suspense and attraction.
I loved this story it was very well written. The characters all went well together. It had just the right amount of suspense in it. Looking forward to more.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
4 Suspenseful Stars!!!
Michelle Grey welcome back!! I’ve waited awhile for her to release a new book. I’m glad she went on vacation and decided to write the story that popped into her head.
Hadley works hard. It’s all work and no play in her life. She’s got a timeline mapped out in her head. Her boss making her go on a sabbatical and not knowing the reason behind it is not in her plan.
Her cousin Sophie drags her to the mountains so she can get pictures and info for her blog. While it’s not on Hadley’s list of things to do, she goes along for the ride.
Noah insists on helping them as well as showing them around town.
Noah is a private investigator and is good at his job. When a previous client calls him after a body was found with his business card on him he goes to the mountains in search of who is setting up his client.
Noah was unprepared to meet Hadley and Sophie. He knows he needs to distance himself from the girls but the thought of not getting to spend anymore time without Hadley isn’t something he’s ready to do.
Instead he’s finding reasons to do things and go places with Hadley and Sophie. It doesn’t help his case that his dog has fallen in love with her. Noah also finds himself telling her more truths of his life and the more time they spend together the more he wants to tell her who he really is and he’s never blown a cover on a job before. Noah just hopes they find the killer and that he doesn’t loose her when she finds out the truth.
I liked this story. It did take me a little while to fully get into it. There was nothing with the story or the characters I don’t read this POV often and it usually takes me a bit to get fully into it.
The suspense was nonstop. I never knew what was coming next and who was behind anything. But, when the drama of taking the murderer it felt a little rushed and it made me sad bc up until that part I was at the edge of my bed. Then, boom that part was finished. Just wish it didn’t feel rushed.
Other then that I LOVE Noah, Hadley and Sophie’s time in the mountains. Shoot, Noah needs to hire Hadley and Sophie bc these two can be PI’s. My fingers are crossed Michelle writes Sophie a book. Bc, she’s amazing and deserves a HEA.
Michelle, Go on another vacation and start plotting out your next book. I’ve missed reading you and really glad you hit publish once more.
