As Jane Marple sat basking in the tropical sunshine she felt mildly discontented with life. True, the warmth eased her rheumatism, but here in paradise nothing ever happened. Then a question was put to her by a stranger: ‘Would you like to see a picture of a murderer?’ Before she has a chance to answer, the man vanishes, only to be found dead the next day. The mysteries abound: Where is the … picture? Why is the hotelier prone to nightmares? Why doesn’t the most talked-about guest, a reclusive millionaire, ever leave his room? And why is Miss Marple herself fearful for her life?
Of note: A Caribbean Mystery introduces the wealthy (and difficult) Mr Jason Rafiel, who will call upon Miss Marple for help in Nemesis (1971) — after his death.

as good as you expect an Agatha Christie Miss Marple mystery to be.
A great mystery!
A clever Miss Marple. Classic and fun.
If you already know Agatha Christie, you know that her mysteries are clean and tight. This is a Miss Marple myster and sets up the basis for one that follows later–Nemisis. Before you read that one, make sure you read this, so you know how the characters are related. I feel like you need to read them both to get the full story.
Such a classic Miss Marple mystery. I re-read it every few years, just to enjoy how deft Agatha Christie was in her prime. I enjoy Miss Marple more in my late 60s than I did in my early teens. I like that the red herrings in this story are a pretty cool mystery of their own, with an ironic outcome that Christie does so well.
You cannot go wrong with Agatha Christie. Jane Mare is an unpredictable character.
Agatha Christie an old favorite!
One of Agatha Christie’s best! The island setting is a nice change.
I am a Miss Marple fan.
As always Agatha Christi gives a good twist at the end…leaves you hanging in the middle and actually wondering who did what. Good plot.
I liked Miss Marple solving a mystery while she is on vacation.
I love Miss Marple. I want to be Miss Marple when I grow up! And, although I really, really enjoy a lot of other “cozy mystery” writers, Agatha Christie has no equal. Loved every minute of this book.
In her tenth outing, Miss Marple finds herself on a Caribbean Island with little to do, thanks to her generous nephew, Raymond. She sits in the sun with her knitting, observing the other guests at the hotel and occasionally conversing with them.
Major Palgrave has plenty of stories to tell and has foisted himself on many of the guests before he …
A great read.
A fair mystery. Involving.
No one writes a mystery like Agatha Christie did. She is one of my all time favorite writers. I think of her books a cozy mysteries. Of course, back in her time they were probably just really good mysteries.
In A Caribbean Mystery, we find Ms. Marple being bored with her trip. It seems nothing ever happens in the Caribbean. That changes with a …
A total waste of time. You can’t build a case against a murderer based on the idle backbiting gossip of total strangers.
A Caribbean Mystery is quite possibly the first Agatha Christie book I’ve ever read where I guessed who dunnit correctly, and well before the final denouement. I can’t say whether that’s a positive or a negative; either way, this is classic Christie and delivers a page-turning delight.
Miss Marple has traveled to the Caribbean for some much …
Love any Agatha Christie!
Agatha Christie’s classic mysteries set the standard for the genre, and never disappoint. Seeing them dramatized does not dampen their allure.
