Spend the holidays in Silver Springs, where the greatest gift of all is the love you never expected.Up-and-coming TV anchor Emery Bliss can’t imagine anything more humiliating than the sex tape her ex revenge-posted online. That is, until it causes her to lose her job on top of her self-esteem. Seeking solace—and anonymity—in Silver Springs, Emery isn’t looking to get involved with another man … involved with another man any time soon. But when she’s thrown back into contact with Dallas Turner, she sees something that his many detractors have missed.
Being home for the holidays and his adoptive mother’s wedding isn’t where mountain climber Dallas feels most comfortable. Thanks to his troubled childhood, he’d rather be on a rock face alone than trying to connect with people. Emery, however, makes him want to overcome his past…somehow.
Both Emery and Dallas had been planning on a quiet, solitary Christmas, but the sparks between them are lighting a fire strong enough to last—possibly forever.
Don’t miss Brenda Novak’s latest book, When I Found You!

I love holiday Christmas stories, especially ones with a second chance romance! Emery and Dallas are a great couple, and I love their witty, engaging and emotional love story set in Brenda’s awesome fictional time of Silver Springs. This is the perfect read for this time of year! Enjoy!
Definitely another wonderful book by Brenda Novak. I enjoy her Sliver Springs series so much. There is a lot of emotional support by people that also have went through difficult times. That is what makes this series so special to me. People that were once hurt can move on in their lives and also help others along the way.
Some of the plot is not realistic, but I go with it since it is romance fiction and I use these books as an escape from real life. It is nice to see the characters go on to a happy future.
As always Brenda Novak has a fantastic plot that keeps the reader invested in the story. I hope there will be more books added to this series.
I want to thank NetGalley and HARLEQUIN – Trade Publishing (U.S. & Canada) for allowing me to read the advance reader copy. My review is my own opinion, not influenced by receiving the ARC.
This is Silver Springs book #7. It is the story of Emery Bliss and Dallas Turner.
Emery is an up and coming tv anchor. She cannot imagine anything would be more humiliating than the sex tape her ex posted online. Then she loses her job and her self esteem. She goes back to Silver Spring to seek comfort and try to be anonymous. She certainly isn’t going to get involved with another man anytime soon.
Dallas is mountain climber, and that is where he feels most like himself. He feels more comfortable being alone on a rock than trying to connect with other people. He had a troubled childhood, but had to go back to Silver Springs to attend his adoptive mother’s wedding and see the family for a bit during the holidays.
Emery sees something in Dallas that many critics may have missed. Emery makes Dallas want to conquer his past. When they are thrown together, things are not going to go as either one had planned. Sparks fly between the two, and the fire lit will make it anything other than a quiet, solitary Christmas.
I really enjoyed this story. I loved watching Emery & Dallas be for each other exactly what they needed to try to overcome their past issues and work on a future together. The ending was what i hoped for.
Great christmas story set in Silver Springs. #7 in the series but can be read as a stand alone if have not read priors. Enjoyed story great easy holiday read.
First off let me say this book is the 7th in a series should you read it. I didn’t read the previous ones as I did not know this till I had already been reading it. I can say it did not distract me from this story too much.
Now with that said let’s dive into my thoughts. I enjoyed this story because one, it took place at Christmas my favorite time of year. Two it was all about second chances which I whole heartily believe in. Finally is was engaging.
Emery and Dallas are a wonderful couple, and I enjoyed their witty, engaging, and emotional love story set in the fictional town of Silver Springs. This couple drew me and I wanted to know their story. The author kept me engaged and wanting to turn the page.
Because it was an engaging story I enjoyed it and loved curling up at night by the Christmas tree to read. If you are in need of a little holiday romance to get you through your day this book definitely will give it to you.
A California Christmas by Brenda Novak, book seven in her Silver Springs series, was an enjoyable read. Emery Bliss’ life was quickly turned upside down thanks to her ex, when Ethan posted a sex video of the two of them online. Not only does she lose her dignity, she also loses her job as a TV anchor. Upset and humiliated, Emery heads to her old hometown of Silver Springs, CA to stay with her mom’s friend, Aiyana Turner. While Emery is there she runs into Dallas Turner, one of Aiyana’s adopted sons. who happens to be in town for his mom’s wedding. Dallas climbs mountains for a living because it’s a way for him to escape his past.
While there is instant attraction between Emery and Dallas, the last thing she needs is another man in her life. But of course, the more time Dallas and Emery spend together, the hotter the flames are getting until they both give in to their attraction. Emery is ready to jump into something serious with Dallas, but because of things from his past he cannot commit.
When Emery’s life is threatened, Dallas is even more conflicted than ever for his feeling for her. Dallas is going to have to confront his past before he can ever have something special with Emery and when the past if finally thrown at him, it will take a lot of soul searching for Dallas to figure out that what he really wants the most out of life is Emery.
I really enjoyed A California Christmas by Brenda Novak. I just love this series as well as all of Aiyana’s troubled, adopted sons. It was fun watching them find love. I really liked Emery. She was strong willed and sweet. Despite having so many negative things going on in her life, Emery found the strength to never give up. I adored Dallas, as you couldn’t help but feel for him, because of his past. I just wanted to reach out and give him a hug. Overall they made for a wonderful couple and I really enjoyed their love story. I highly recommend A California Christmas to other readers.
I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book.
Well written, relatable characters, unexpected story line.
Emery Bliss has retreated to Silver Springs to hide out until the scandal over a video of her co-anchor and herself went viral. Both of them were fired from the television station, but Ethan was rehired. Emery suspects that he posted the video himself when she broke up with him. Emery is staying with Aiyana Turner who is preparing for her wedding and the Christmas holidays with all her sons home for the first time in years. Dallas Turner, champion mountain climber, had a crush on Emery in high school and feels a tug of attraction again. Both Aiyana and Dallas encourage Emery to file suit against Ethan and the newstation and she does. There are more back stories that explain the doubts both Emery and Dallas have about becoming involved, and the reader wonders if love will win out.
So this is my first book by Brenda Novak. It’s the seventh book in the Silver Springs series involving a small town with some complicated residents. And a large family who takes in troubled youth.
Our heroine Emery Bliss, moved to Los Angeles in hopes of being a famous news anchor. All is well until her ex posts a sex tape of her online, which causes her to loose her job and she runs home seeking solace. Since her parents aren’t in town due to their impending divorce, she stays with Aiyana, who is the hero’s adopted mother.
Dallas, is home helping with his adopted mother’s wedding and Looking for ways to cope with his past. An unexpected guest brings up feelings from his childhood.
They are prompted to help with Aiyana’s wedding which starts them down a path that nether one was seeking. Both having their own relationship hang-ups, Dallas helps Emery in a slow and tentative process which brings them closer. Did they find something in each other that they didn’t know they wanted?
It’s romance story filled with real topics that are typically raw and emotional to the public and aren’t usually discussed in the way that she writes them. The healing process of each character is what will draw you into this story.
I want to thank Netgalley and the Publisher MIRA.
Brenda Novak’s Silver Springs series never disappoints! This book, as usual wasn’t easy to put down.
Imagine breaking up with your co-anchor on the TV station and for revenge, he posts a viral video of the two of you having sex. Oh, and by the way, you had no idea the tape even existed. This is what happened to Emory Bliss. She is horrified and leaves town after losing her self esteem and being fired from her job. She goes back home to Silver Springs for Christmas and to hide from everyone.
Meanwhile, Dallas and all of his siblings are home (or on their way home) for their adopted mothers wedding. Dallas has never been able to connect with people due to his troubled past. He’d much rather be mountain climbing.
When Dallas walks into his mom’s house, expecting it to be empty, he finds Emory wearing only a t-shirt and panties in the kitchen. Did I mention that Dallas had a crush on her way back in high school?
To find out more, you will need to read the book. I guarantee, it will be worth your time.
Reeling and embarrassed from the recent revenge scandal that has cost her more than just her job, Emery seeks solitude and solace in the loving home of Aiyana a family friend. The rut she is in seems to be swallowing her whole until Aiyanas son Dallas comes home again for his mothers wedding. There is something about him that brings the world back into focus, though that’s the last thing she needs. Another man in her life. Dallas has nothing to offer anyone. His past still has a vise grip on him despite what his mother wishes for him. While he is home he makes it his mission to help Emery, in any way he can. But feelings have a way of creeping up on you, despite protestations. With Christmas looming maybe they can enjoy the time they have together, without strings. A great addition to the series and wonderful way to spend my Sunday!
When up and coming rock climber Dallas Turner heads home for his mother’s wedding, he never thought that his old high school crush would be staying there as well. Emery Bliss had been a morning news host and had been fired and rocked by a scandal when she broke up with her cohost and a sex tape of the pair had been leaked onto the internet. Since it was recorded without her consent, and only she had been fired from the show, she made the tough decision to sue both the station and her ex. Attempting to distance herself from Los Angeles and the fallout, she headed back to her hometown of Silver Springs.
Trying to get her life back is hard, but Dallas is there for her no matter what. When friendship turns into more, neither are prepared for the feelings that come.
This is book 7 of the Silver Springs series, but you don’t have to read the series to enjoy the story. I have read book 6, but none of the others and I never felt that I needed to read the rest. Don’t get me wrong, I WANT to read the rest because I do love this series, but I didn’t need to read the others first.
I do love Dallas, his backstory is one of horror that he hasn’t been able to overcome. Truly, I don’t think one can overcome what happened to his mom and sister when he was only 6, but he has a fierce protective streak when it comes to those he cares about. Even though Emery has been dealing with the loss of her job and the releasing of a tape that she had no knowledge about, she still tries to be there for her mother financially, and she steps in to help wherever she can. The romance that blooms between these two broken people is so beautiful, I was rooting for them right from the beginning. Of course the writing is excellent, Ms. Novak is a master storyteller. There’s a wonderful cast of characters, and the story is great. Perfect Christmas tale full of love and romance.
**I received an ARC of this story from Netgalley and the publisher in exchange for an honest review.
This was my first Christmas book of the 2020 season. I read this w/out having read the whole Silver Springs series but that wasn’t an issue. I was drawn to all of the characters and can’t wait to read this series from the beginning.
Going in, I didn’t realize this was book 7 but Novak has a great way to writing that you don’t have to read a series to feel and love the story. Emery and Dallas are likeable characters, giving the story depth that makes it grab your attention. The only part of this book I didn’t like was a plot point felt like a double standard and those are tough for me to forgive as a reader.
I love small town series romance, for me there’s something wonderful about going back and visiting characters, like visiting friends and family – but ones you actually want to spend time with. This particular series has the added bonus of having kids that had troubled childhoods, Dallas’ mom and sister were killed in front of him basically, and he goes to the boys’ home and school.
Now, for me, these are the characters I love seeing get a HEA, and if they have bumps and issues along the way, well, they have reasons.
Brenda Novak does it again with her new novel A California Christmas! This beautifully written novel grabs you from the first chapter and does not let go until the very end! You will not be able to put this one down! This precious love story takes you back to the most wonderful little town of Silvers Springs and you won’t want to leave!
I highly recommend you read this heart warming novel this Christmas…..you will not be disappointed!!
A California Christmas is my second Silver Springs novel by Brenda Novak. Last Christmas, I read Christmas in Silver Springs and was so excited to return to the novel in this book. The plotline was different, and I loved these characters. Emery and Dallas had a history, and Novak developed them beautifully. Each had a unique storyline and background that we got to see and feel, really making this story. See more on my website!Brenda Novak
Emery Bliss, always the good girl, ends up being humiliated and fired from her TV anchor job. She goes back to Silver Springs to stay with her mom’s friend, Aiyana Turner. Dallas Turner, Aiyana’s son, returns home for his mother’s wedding. Two people from different backgrounds, fight the attraction and the love that they don’t realize is happening between them.
Another hit for Brenda Novak! A tug at your heartstrings romantic drama with all the feels. A+
This is the 7th book in the Silver Springs series. This was a wonderful, heartwarming Christmas story that I couldn’t put down. I love to read about Aiyana’s adopted sons and how they deal with their troubled pasts and eventually find love. This time Dallas comes home for his mom’s wedding to Cal and Christmas. He’s finally able to deal with the demons that have been haunting him since he was a child. He does that by helping Emery Bliss deal with her humiliation from a post online that costs her her TV anchor job and her self respect. She comes to stay with Aiyana to hide away for a while. Helping each other leads to them falling in love. I really enjoy Silver Springs and its people. Brenda Novak’s stories bring out all sorts of emotions as you follow the characters. Well done! Looking forward to the next one in the series.
