This Brush Creek Brides Duo contains the first 2 books in the Brush Creek Brides Romance series: A Wedding for the Widower & A Companion for the Cowboy.Over 200 reviews for this bestselling duo!A Wedding for the Widower:Former rodeo champion and cowboy Walker Thompson trains horses at Brush Creek Horse Ranch, where he lives a simple life in his cabin with his ten-year-old son, Michael. A … life in his cabin with his ten-year-old son, Michael. A widower of six years, he’s just trying to provide a life for Michael that his late wife would’ve approved of. He’s worked with Tess Wagner, a widow who came to Brush Creek to escape the turmoil of her life to give her seven-year-old son, Graham, a slower pace of life. Together, they run a cotton candy stand at the town’s Heritage Festival every fall, donating the money they raise to the National Widows & Widowers Foundation to help those who’ve suffered the way they have.
Walker’s boss and best friend, ranch owner Landon Edmunds, has encouraged him to start dating, and Walker looks no further than Tess. She’s interested in him too, but neither of them wants to inflict more sorrow and suffering on the other than they’ve already endured. So when Tess confesses that her breast cancer has flared up again, Walker backs off. Way off.
In the end, he’ll have to decide if he’d rather spend even a short time with Tess and Graham than not have them in his life at all. Tess wants to feel God’s love and power, but she’ll have to discover and accept God’s will in order to find her happy ending.
A Companion for the Cowboy:Cowboy and professional roper Justin Jackman has found solitude at Brush Creek Horse Ranch, preferring his time with the animals he trains over dating. With two failed engagements in his past, he’s not really interested in getting his heart stomped on again. But when flirty and fun Renee Martin picks him up at a church ice cream bar–on a bet, no less–he finds himself more than just a little interested.
Renee’s living with her cousin in Brush Creek, having just graduated from college. She’s not ready to be an adult, has no idea what she wants to do for a career, and generally wishes everyone would just let her figure things out. She starts working for Dinosaur National Park, which has an hour-long commute that she spends thinking about Justin. With a decade separating their ages, she comes to realize that they’re from different generations.
His Gen-X attitudes are attractive to her; her Millennial behaviors drive him nuts. Can Justin look past their differences and take a chance on another engagement? And if he does, will Renee be mature enough and ready for a serious relationship? Justin and Renee will have to figure out how to pray and how to listen to God to find a way to their happily-ever-after.
The Brush Creek Brides series is a spin-off series from the bestselling Gold Valley Romance novel, THROUGH THE MIST, also by Liz Isaacson.

Real life emotions. Good characters who prayed about their lives. Had romance, drama, and good story plot.
Beautiful
Both stories were wonderfully written. To find love that way was wonderful. The first story about 2 widows finding I’ve a 2nd time was great, and the other about people who had been hurt by love was great.
A Wedding for the Widower:
Wow! This book had me reeling! My emotions were all over the place. I so loved this story. Walker and Tess finally get together after losing our spouses (both in accidents). Then add to it, Tess has breast cancer. Oh my. This is a quick read (thank goodness as I cried buckets!)
This story contained by favorite dual POVs. It really helps me to understand the characters. Especially in this story of loss and possible future loss. The characters seemed so real. The plot flowed so smoothly. It was like a movie played in my mind. I was sad to see the words, The End!!!! I highly recommend this story to anyone!!!
A Companion for the Cowboy:
This was an exceptional read. I truly loved reading about the differences between Gen-Xer (Justin) and Millennial (Renee). How they dealt with the things that separate their generations. I loved this as I sometimes feel lost as I am a Baby Boomer and the younger generations confuse me! The scene at the concert was really hilarious for me as people seem to connect to their phones than to people and places around them.
This story contained by favorite dual POVs. It really helps me to understand the characters. Especially loved the scene and how they worked it out after the concert in Justin’s truck. I could really see both sides of the issue. The characters seemed so real. The plot flowed so smoothly. It was like a movie played in my mind. I adored seeing Walker and Tess from the first story appear here. I highly recommend this story to anyone!!!
I have thouroughly enjoyed all of Liz Isaacson’s books that I have read. I like being able to begin a series and read through the rest. Even though I take breaks and read other authors I can come back to these series and know and love the characters in them. They have problems but work through their problems with the help of God and their “family” on the ranch. Good reading.
Cute
Good book! Clean and refreshing.
Great story line!
Fell in love with the characters. Enjoying all the books in the brush Creek series.u
Sorry, but I found the details unrealistic.
Liz Izaacson is always good
Sweet, predictable romance set on a ranch.
Good read. Happy ending.
Can I first just begin this review off by stating how much I absolutely love Ms. Isaacson and all the hard work that she puts in each of her novels? She is truly magnificent and each of her stories holds a piece of her heart as she continues to share more and more of herself with her devoted readers.
“A Wedding for the Widower” is a beautiful tale about two friends that came together after years of standing on the sidelines to finally find the love of a lifetime. After both losing their loved ones to accidents, Tess and Walker as twice gun shy and scared to make the first step into a new relationship and this time there is something more stopping them from taking the plunge- Tess has a terrible illness that has returned in full force. Can these two put aside their differences and move past their past to begin anew? It will take a lot of faith and trust in the Father to begin this new journey, but with the love of the Father they know that they cannot go wrong!
“A Companion for the Cowboy” was a little slow in the beginning, I must admit; however, the further along the story went the more I was in love with this new set of characters. I must say that I think this has been the most realistic novel I have ever read by Liz Isaacson, and I love all of her work, but the emotions and feelings that were used portrayed how a real couple would struggle when first meeting and falling in love so quickly. I highly recommend this novel, I feel that it show Ms. Isaacson’s strengths off very well.
Brush Creek Brides is full of wonderful new adventures which includes Landon and Megan in this spin off series about their own horse ranch training the next rodeo stars before their time. There is more love and good times to be had in this up and coming series that I am sure that each and every reader will not want to miss out on!
I enjoy reading books from this author. Nice easy read! Enjoyable!!
Really enjoyed reading could hardly put it down
enjoyed, would recommend
These two books were Isaacson at her best. Good, entertaining, fast reads with purpose and determination.
I love Liz Issacson books. They are clean and well written. These are in a series but can be read a stand-alone in any order. They always tell about God and going to church. I was given a copy of this book for an honest review. I highly recommend reading them.
I love a good clean romance. We all know it’s a happily ever after or we wouldn’t be reading it,so the fun is in finding out how they come to be. Liz is a great story teller and her stories are believable and likable. Great feel good short stories that will have you looking for the next one.
