There was an unexpected twist To this story. Well done.
I am reading the series and loving it.
Loved this book well worth reading.
Entertaining, lighthearted, sweet and elegant short book. I enjoyed this story and their characters.
Good writing.
I thoroughly enjoyed this regency romance with some mystery thrown in. It was definitely a change for the lord to be the naive one rather than the young miss. I loved that aspect. The characters were great and I enjoyed watching the animosity change.
This is my first time reading this author and I loved this sweet story. The writing style is great, and the characters have depth to them. It’s an enjoyable easy short read.

Lady Augusta and Lord Leicestershire’s relationship didn’t start very well but after a nasty series of events that changed.
I have to say that it was difficult to get into the book at the beginning because I didn’t like any of the main characters. However, later it changed, and it was very interesting how things developed in the end.
Lady Augusta’s father arranges a betrothal
for his daughter to Lord Stephen Pendleton.
Lady Augusta is horrified when her father
informs her that she will marry a man who
she has neither seen or been presented.
When their first meeting does occur neither
Lady August nor Lord Pendleton make a
good impression of each other.
Lord Pendleton does not return his written
betrothal to her father.
When Lord Pendleton’s brother dies, he
becomes the Marquess of Leicestershire.
Society seeks him out now that he is the
Marquess of Leicestershire. People who use
to ignore him want his company because of
who he is. So six months after his brother’s
death he sits on the betrothal agreement
while he floats around in society.
But then his luck runs out…..who of all
people comes to his aide…..Lady Augusta.
Will her help make him presentable to the
ton society again? Will he break his betrothal?
Come along with the couple in their adventure.
This is an extremely well written book.
The characters are interesting, colorful,
conniving, well fleshed out and relatable.
The plot moves along at a fast pace. This
is a quick, enjoyable and entertaining read.

This is the first book in the convenient arrangement series. This series is about ladies who find love and happy ever after while working through difficult situations. When Lord Pendleton’s brother dies he becomes the Marquess of Leicestershire, and he wants to make a name for himself. Lady Agustis’s father arranged her marriage to the Marquess of Leicestershire and although she must accept it she is not happy about it. This story has much intrigue as the couple work through many obstacles to find their Happy Ever After.

Not quite what I expected from Ms. Pearson. This was a good book in the end although it took some getting there. It is the story of Stephen, Lord Leicestershire, who is betrothed to Lady Augusta. When his brother dies and he acquires the title is goes to his head and he enjoys the attention from society a little too much. This causes some people to scheme against him. I enjoyed the plot of the story but I felt there was too much unnecessary information leading up to the main part of the story. I enjoyed the story as a whole and I would recommend it for a quiet afternoon read.

From a I don’t want to do it, to let’s get betrothal is quite a story. It is a story that will keep your attention from the start to the end to see what is going to happen and who is responsible. A great start to a series.

Lady Augusta is in London for the Little Season. When her father announces he has arranged her betrothal with Lord Stephen Pendleton, she is disappointed and upset and she does not make a good impression on him. Then, when Lord Pendleton’s brother, the Marquise dies in a duel the betrothal announcement is delayed. Stephen becomes the new Lord Leicestershire and is suddenly feted by the ton and it goes to his head. With the betrothal hanging between them and Lord Stephen enjoying his new found popularity, he ignores Lady Augusta’s many tries to warn him. Having an inkling that things are afoot, Lady Augusta manages to deflect the first attempts to discredit Lord Stephen. They finally start working together to try and find why this is happening. Interesting and convoluted story. Writing flowed as do all Rose Pearson’s novels. Enjoyable read.

Lady Augusta’s father in a business-like agreement arranged for her marriage to Stephen, Lord Pendleton. She had wanted to choose her own husband, so their first meeting was not very welcoming.
When Stephen’s brother died in a duel and Stephen became the Marquess of Leicestershire, he let his newfound popularity with the nobles and ladies go to his head, and Augusta found herself no longer of importance to him. Instead he becomes self-focused and determined to make a name for himself. Will Augusta be able to turn his mind back to their betrothal? Will he listen to her warning about someone trying to ruin him? Or will the distractions of his current status put an end to everything they value?
I always enjoy this author’s books. The story line was good with a touch of mystery about the identity of Stephen’s “enemy”. The characters were presented well, realistic and likable. Don’t miss this one – it is definitely worthwhile reading!
A story that will kept reading until the end…
Two young person… a combined betrothal… a sudden death… villain’s plot…
Fun, mystery and surprises that you will love…
A book to all that love Regency

This started off a little rough because of the fact the two main characters have such bad attitudes towards each other. It’s never completely understandable how Lady Augusta had started having feelings for Lord Pendleton early in their arrangement to have sympathy towards him the way she does later. About halfway through they start acting more appropriate, and the book settles down and follows the same as Pearson’s other books towards happier times for the couple, and it became a much more enjoyable read.
A Very Clean Regency Novella
In London society ones reputation was to be protected at all cost. Once lost, a woman’s reputation could never be restored, and that of a mans would often take many years to recover.
On the surface, the plot of A Broken Betrothal may seem shallow, but in reality the plot addressees two very important issues in Regency society. Rose Pearson deftly tackles the topic of not only the power held by men, but also the value of ones reputation. While establishing an issue driven plot, Ms. Pearson also develops the main characters growth from self-absorbed and childish individuals into a mature and caring couple. No small task since I really disliked both the hero and heroine from the beginning However, by the end I was pleased that they could look forward to a happy future together.
Disclosure: I received an ARC of this book from the author. I am voluntarily submitting my honest review.
Father tells daughter he has arranged a marriage for her. To someone she has never met. And to say the least they do NOT hit off good!! So why,, when she hears about someone doing something to hurt him does she warn m=hi? I LOVED THIS BOOK. One of Rose Pearson’s best (so far!!).

Another wonderful book by Rose Pearson! I love the story line of this book! Lady Augusta was betrothed to Lord Leicestershire before he came into his title, she was very upset because her father did this without her knowledge so at their first meeting she was not very nice to him. Lord Leicestershire, did not understand what was the matter with his newly betrothed and the next time they met at a ball he pretended they have never met before, embarrassing her in front of the Ton… but even after their bad start in their relationship, they finally overcame it and start courting. This story has some twist and turns and a few surprises that will keep you reading until the end. I could not put it down! I recommend reading it, you will enjoy it. Great job Rose Pearson!
