Wonderful
Ivy has been in love with Falcon since she was 15, Falcon was in love also. He was a second son, he decided to serve in India. He comes back 6 years later with a few disfigurements, but he still loves Ivy and Ivy still loves him. They just have to see the light.
I love reading books by Collette Cameron! It did seem inevitable that our heroine, Ivonne, was going to end up with Falcon, the guy who she’s been hopelessly in love with for about 8 years, but it was never easy. Neither reads the other’s emotions very well. (Love will do that.). My only disappointment is that it’s a short little book, so the story is quick to read (can also be a benefit at the same time). Character development is excellent for a shorter read. So many obstacles make it difficult for the reader to know if this story will get that happy ending, but it’s not at all hard to get to the finish line.
I usually don’t like novellas but this one had enough good reading to let you get to know and love the main characters. The story had all the greats ingredients for me to enjoy, i.e. an disgusting hopeful suitor, interfering Prince Regent, a wounded war hero, a sassy heroine and a wonderful romance. Falcon has loved his best friend’s sister since she was 15 and left to make his fortune so he could come back and marry her. Ivy has loved Falcon for as long as she can remember but then he left and never wrote and then showed up 6 years later. Can they get their HEA – I highly recommend this book & the series.
Falcon and Ivy have loved each other from afar since she was fifteen. Of course, neither of them knew of the other’s feelings. It has been six years since they saw each other. Attending a ball at the Wimpleton home, he rescues Ivy from a nasty and persistent suitor. He finally puts him off by telling him that Ivy is betrothed to another. Perturbed and suspicious, Kirkpatrick spreads the gossip until it comes to the attention of the Regent. Now Ivy, or her father, has to find a suitor to become the groom. The only man Ivy wants is Falcon. The only woman Falcon wants is Ivy. Now, if they could just acknowledge their feelings, the problem might be easily solved. Not that easy.
This is a sweet heartwarming story. There is little angst and no misunderstandings that couldn’t be easily explained. Falcon and Ivy had a wonderful chemistry. There is some uncertainty about the results of past injuries for both of them. I liked the secondary characters, except the villain Kirkpatrick (not much there to like). The story is perfectly paced, and there are some wonderful surprises at the end, including a delightful proposal for marriage.
Once again, Stevie Zimmerman does a fantastic job narrating the story. She is quite good with both female and male voices. The emotion the character feels is clearly heard in her voicing, a happy laugh, a sad tearful whisper, a sharp retort, or a sweet sigh.
Bride of Falcon is a pleasant read or listen. I highly recommend it.

***Book 1: A Kiss for Miss Kingsley

After her father passes away, Olivia Kingsley and her brother Bradford return to London from the tropics to learn Allen Wimpleton is still unwed.
****Book 2: Bride of Falcon
4 stars
I purchased a copy of the mildly steamy novella A Waltz With a Rogue book 2: Bride of Falcon by Collette Cameron and this review was given freely.
A twisted tale of a six year unrequited love realised for a couple with physical disabilities and an introduction to the other rogues in the series. Stalked by the drunken crass and unclean Captain Melvin Kirkpatrick, Ivonne Wimpleton is saved by her twin cousins, Edwina and Edward as well as reunited with the man she secretly loves, her brother’s childhood friend, battle injured Lieutenant Chancey “Falcon” Faulkenhurst.
****Book 3: Her Scandalous Wish
5 stars

Poignant with a happy ending. An elaborate plot of greed and snobbery lead to a family scandal and separation of Bradford and Philomena. Bradford, Viscount Kingsley returns to England after three years in the tropics to learn his intended, Philomena Pomfrett did not die in the fire that disfigured her but that her brother Giles would soon die leaving her penniless.

A wonderful but complex story with an unfortunate first meeting,an interfering Aunt and the dilemma of legitimacy and title vs family, social acceptance and common kindness.
When the The Saint of the Sea Dominic Horatio St. Monté, nephew of her mother’s governess leaves his pirateering to become a Duke and guardian of his sisters, banking heiress Katrina Needham questions if she really loves the man she hopes to become engaged to.
****Book 5: The Wallflower’s Wicked Wager
5 stars
I purchased a copy of the mildly steamy novella A Waltz With a Rogue Book 5: The Wallflower’s Wicked Wager by Collette Cameron and this review was given freely.
An attraction at first sight romance with an unfortunate first meeting and dark themes such as parental abuse, bullying and low self esteem balanced by humor and healing resulting from finding your one true love. Trying to escape a fortune hunter, shy Scottish aristocrat Lady Shona Atterberry fleas only to fall in the lake where the disfigured Morgan Le Draco galently rescues her.
Second in the series, you meet characters from the first book, but this story stands alone. Ivonne loves only one man, Chance, but he left without contacting her. Six years later, they have a chance at love again. Both have become “damaged” in that time which plays upon their conscious awareness of others and gives rise to doubts. Chance/Falcon has a tender soul although he can be gruff. I liked both Ivonne and Chance, and enjoyed their reunion. This is a quick read, and I look forward to the next one.
This is my unsolicited review.
Additional – I listened to the audiobook, given as a gift, and I loved how Stevie Zimmerman narrated the story. The story was still good, and hearing the characters full of life held my attention the entire book.
Six years = five seasons. Five long seasons for Ivonne Wimpleton to accept that she is an undesirable. Six long years to realize & accept that the one man she has loved since she was 15 does not love her.
Six long years – that’s how long Chancy Faulkenhurst, Falcon, has been away from England. Six years since he’s seen the one girl he wants for a wife, one that whose father refused him six years ago. Now he’s home, poor & disfigured, with little prospects to woe the girl he wants & to gain her father’s approval.
During a house party given by Ivonne’s parents she is pursued by a man she has no intention of ever marrying. In running from this man she literally bumps into none other than Falcon. The man she’s loved for years, the man she wrote to but never received a letter in return. Why, oh why, has she run into him now when she’s finally ready to get on with her life knowing there’s no hope with him? And why is her stomach dong flips at the sight & smell of him?
Ivy, his Ivy, still so beautiful. But why is she running, why is she afraid? When her would be suitor follows her into the arbor & demands to know why she’s in the arms of another man, Chancy realizes what she fears. As the conversation continues it becomes clear this man is not going to give up so Chancy says the first thing that enters his head – Ivy is promised to another. Such a simple statement leads to headaches for all involved when the Prince Regent demands to meet Ivy’s intended. As Ivy considers her options Chancy is considering a move to America – he cannot stand to be in England if Ivy is married to another. As the days continue circumstances change. Will Chancy stay in England? Will he propose to Ivy? Will Ivy be able to marry for love or will she have to settle just to make the Prince Regent happy?
I’m a huge fan of Collette Cameron’s & she never fails to entertain – complete with laughter & tears and Bride of Falcon is no exception. An EXCELLENT read.
What is not to love about life a wounded hero returning home to find the woman he has loved? Chancy Faulkenhurst returns to England after being away for six long years. He has abstained some terrible wounds from his time at war in India. Ivonne Wimpleton has had 5 seasons and has yet to find a suitor she cares about. Her heart went with Chance when he left six years ago. This is a delightful story of two people brought back together and their journey to reconnect. It warmed my heart and left me smiling! Another great story Collette Cameron!
I thought this was a great love story of two young people in love who don’t see each other for 6 years, but their love for each other remains.
