#1 NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER • The sixth book in Diana Gabaldon’s acclaimed Outlander saga, the basis for the Starz original series. Don’t miss the new Outlander novel, Go Tell the Bees That I Am Gone, available November 23!“The large scope of the novel allows Gabaldon to do what she does best, paint in exquisite detail the lives of her characters.”—Booklist The year is 1772, and on the eve of … characters.”—Booklist
The year is 1772, and on the eve of the American Revolution, the long fuse of rebellion has already been lit. Men lie dead in the streets of Boston, and in the backwoods of North Carolina, isolated cabins burn in the forest.
With chaos brewing, the governor calls upon Jamie Fraser to unite the backcountry and safeguard the colony for King and Crown. But from his wife Jamie knows that three years hence the shot heard round the world will be fired, and the result will be independence—with those loyal to the King either dead or in exile. And there is also the matter of a tiny clipping from The Wilmington Gazette, dated 1776, which reports Jamie’s death, along with his kin. For once, he hopes, his time-traveling family may be wrong about the future.

I loved this book because it is the continuing saga of Jamie and Claire’s journey together. Their devotion, loyalty, and commitment to each other, their family and their new country continues in this page turning ‘Outlander’ series book.
Continuation of the great Outlander series. It is like returning to a wonderful world away from the one we know now, but with the same struggles and woes as everyone has.
This is actually book 6 in Diana Gabaldon’s wonderful Outlander series. It’s actually my favorite! The characters are so real, the main romance (jamie and Claire) are aspirational, and it’s packed with adventure, laughter and tears. Diana once made a bet- a dollar to anyone who read 3 pages anywhere in her books, and could then put it down. She said she’s never had to pay that bet. These are AMAZING books. Do yourself a favor and read Outlander. It’ll change your life!
WONDERFUL
I recommend all of the Gabaldon books. I only wish she would write more in the main series, although I have also enjoyed her “short stories” (as she herself admits, her short stories are what most people would call books). I enjoy not only the central characters but her grasp of history and the way she makes reading historical works easy and fun. Go for it.
Diana Gabaldon at her very best! I love all the books in the Outlander series but A Breath Of Snow And Ashes just grabbed me on page one, and held fast until that last sentence.
Awesome
I really enjoyed A Breath of Snow and Ashes (Book 6). All of the characters are like great friends at this point. I want to read about their adventures or misadventures. Book 6 did not disappoint. I love Jamie and Claire’s relationship. It disappoints me that their relationship is constantly tested but that is life. Relationships are tested and hopefully will be stronger after. I like the new twist in the ending. Tom, Allan, and Melva’s story made me feel so many emotions. I am eager to start book 7.
Have read 3 times love the whole series.
Loved this book. Loved the Outlander series.
Well written as always. Carries the saga farther along.
The story of Claire and Jamie remains just a strong and powerful as in the first book.
Love this series but be prepared to spend some time on each book. They’re long and detailed but well worth every minute spent on them.
The character development is wonderful, and the settings and historical figures and events incorporated into the story make this my favorite series of books!
Part of a great series!!! Want more!
The continuing story of a great love lived out by ordinary people in what became our history. There are those that became “famous” but there are so many others who were a part of history in ways big and small that we know nothing about but they too made that history happen. Diane brings these lives to our awareness – what were things like, what did they deal with, what choices had to be made or endured. We join in the experiences through them and they become a part of our history in a personal way. She is SUCH an excellent writer!
Awesome read, great addition to the series. I’m hooked and will keep reading. 🙂
Loved the entire Outlander Series. Diana Gabaldon is an excellent writer. Enjoying the Outlander Series on Star’s too.
Keep reading Diana Gabaldon’s books in the series about Claire and Jamie Frasier.
