I enjoyed Beth and Ryder’s story very much. Both were survivors and were ready to move forward but both needed to find their own path forward.
Beth had survived the loss of her mother and a bought with breast cancer when she was still quite young. She stayed in Portland to help her dad run the B&B that had been in her mother’s family for years. She really didn’t see another way until she met Ryder who was staying at their B&B for a tattoo artist convention. He caused her to want something different; a new path toward healing. Was she brave enough to strike out on her own? When a surprise jolted her and pushed her towards making some changes, she could see a new path toward healing her heart and her mind.
Ryder had served in Iraq and came back with some emotional scars and PTSD which kept him from moving forward. As he began to give back and try and help others who had returned from the horrors of war, he began to heal but there were so many barriers to his heart. Meeting Beth helped him to see that a brighter future might be his if he could just let go and move towards happiness.
This story was an emotional rollercoaster at times but at the end, there was a happy ending; the best kind of ending, in my opinion. The story was sweet and mostly clean.
I was given an arc copy of this book and I willingly offer my honest review.
I liked this more as a finding oneself than as a romance story. I loved how Beth finally found herself after what she had been through and standing up to people like Tim and accepting her dad and Maggie, even though I would be right there with Beth on how they kept “it” from her.
Ryder was an ok character, didn’t really relate to him, although I did love how he treated and cared for Cassie.
I am no stranger to cancer in the family so this story is a little close to home but very well written none the less

Wow I loved everything about this book. The storyline is believable and kept me turning the pages to find out if Beth and Ryder would get their very well deserved HEA having both gone through so much to survive. The characters are well written in such a heartfelt way you can’t help but cheer them on.

Beth has been through alot over the last few years, losing her mother, getting cancer and going through chemo and now her life is going to shift again but she needs to decide what she wants in life. Ryder’s trip to a tattoo convention is about to change things for him as well for Beth as they both start to think about what they really want but Ryder is a saver and does Beth really need saving or do both of them just need to work out what they really want from life. I really liked Beth and Ryder as well as their friends and family and you really connect with them all and makes for a sweet and heartfelt read.

Beth has been in a rut since having chemo and Ryder has withdrawn into himself since he left the armed forces. Can a beautiful tattoo bring them together enough for love and trust to grow? I enjoyed watching the characters fall in love in this sweet romance. Instead of Portland I wish it had been set in New Zealand, which would have been more realistic for these characters.

Beth has just finished chemo – the last of her treatment for breast cancer. After her mother dies, she and her father own and run the B&B that was her mother’s dream. Ryder is in town for a tattoo convention, and is staying at the B&B. His first meeting with Beth is rather off-putting. They both have scars, and different ways of dealing with them. I love how Beth just kinda eases her way into his heart, not really trying to do that, just being her nice, helpful self. I like Ryder, but he needs a kick in the pants for ignoring a good woman right under his nose. His dogs are characters, and they both take to Beth. But the star is Cassie, his niece. The bond that she forges with Beth about their angel mothers is precious and heart-warming. This is my first read from this author – not the last!

The second book in the Lotus Season series. What a beautiful story it is well written with a very good storyline and flows smoothly from page to page. Once I started reading I was not putting the book down until I was finished. Beth and Ryder have so much to deal with from their pasts, they meet when Beth looks after his niece Cassie, after she loses her Mom and her Dad takes off to get over his wife’s death. This is the first book by this Author that I have read and I want to read more by her. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Beth was strong dealing with the loss of her mother and battling breast cancer. I didn’t think it was very professional that she asked for a drink after she threw up her in the toilet of a the guest at her family’s inn’s. I wasn’t surprised Ryder thought she was drunk and wanted to get her help like his alcoholic brother. I learned a lot about tattoos in this book. I’d never get one because I hate needles, but it was interesting to hear about what was involved in getting one and how it’s a cool way to make scars beautiful. It was great that Ryder ran his own support group for veterans and I loved his dogs especially little Skip who wanted to love everyone. His niece Cassie is adorable and I hope her father Gabe finds love again after he gets the help he needs to stay sober.
