“C.J. Carmichael’s The Dad Next Door is remarkably well written. Her characters have depth…and her depiction of their emotions is spot-on…” Romantic Timesmore
Once again the book is so much better than the Hallmark version.
A fun read with a happy ending.
Very predictable, slow, a good quick read on a rainy night. Interesting enough to hold your interest, actually a cute story.
I had watched the movie on Hallmark Channel over the Christmas holidays. When I saw that a book was available, I decided to read it. I enjoyed the book very much, even though it is quite different in many aspects from the Hallmark movie. It’s enjoyable.
It’s a nice, predictable story, but it kind of drags. I only finished it because I always finish what I start. It didn’t do anything for me.
A heartwarming story that will leave you believing in the magic of Christmas.
For Willa Fairchild, it was all about getting away for Christmas. She brought her son Scout to Marietta Montana to spend three weeks at Bramble House B&B. The trip was planned by a patient who she befriended before he died.
Finn Conrad needed to learn more about the woman who received a large chunk of his father’s money after he died. He couldn’t understand why he would leave so much money in his will to someone else and so little to him and of his siblings.
What Finn didn’t expect to find was a kind hearted woman with a child who was recently given a clean bill of health after fighting cancer. Finn also didn’t expect he would soon be falling in love with Willa. What will happen when Willa finds out the truth about Finn?
This is one of those memorable stories that you will remember for a long time. The slow build to Willa and Finn’s romance was perfect and the mystery of the ring and how it brings a family together was a perfect touch to the story.
What a wonderful read. It bring you back to the Carrigans but in a different way. Willa Fairchild received a wonderful gift a Christmas vacation at the Bramble house for herself and her son from a former patient and is happy to give her son a normal Christmas after the years they spent it in the hospital dealing with his cancer scare. The son of the man wants to know how the woman had gotten to his dad and went up there to find out about her and find out that she didn’t ask for it and starting to fall in love with both the little boy and the mom. And what is even funny is that he is related to the Carrigans through his father with out knowing it,
Nice holiday reading
Delightful Cristmas read.
I enjoyed it. Good story line..
Truly loved this book.
I so loved this amazing story, A Bramble House Christmas by CJ Carmichael. The theme of mistrust of and misjudging another person before getting to know runs throughout the whole story, runs throughout this book. Willa and her son, Scout, were gifted a trip to Marietta, Montana for Christmas, by her dying patient. This was a chance for Finn to spend time like a normal kid after being declared cancer-free. Finn Knightly is on a mission to find out why his father left fifty-thousand dollars to his nurse in his will. The more time Finn spends with Willa, and Scout, the less he cares, as he is falling in love with her.
I really loved and enjoyed this sweet love story and had trouble putting this book down, reading this book in one day. Ms. Carmichael is a wonderful story teller, drawing me into her books, making me forget the world around me as she drew me in and not let me go until I turned the last page. I highly recommend this book to other readers.
I have enjoyed all of her books, this one is no exception. A feel good book.
Kind of the same old girl meets boy story but still enjoyable
I enjoyed the stories, and the characters were fantastic. Well written!

It was enjoyable book – easy reading with good romance.
Excellent Christmas story. A son in search of why his father had given a woman money, in his Will, thinking it had to be a mistress, and why didn’t his father let him know he was even very sick. All to find out nothing was as it seemed and that this Christmas gave him more then the answers he was looking for.
Excellent writing that you’ll want to pick up more of what this author offers…heartfelt connection with the characters and a enjoyable read.
Loved this book would definitely recommend it.
