A beautifully intense second chance romance. Lacey and River were always meant to be but it seemed like things always got in the way of their true happiness. Did that stop their love? No, because their love is unconditional and unwavering. I adored this story. I did not want it to end.
A BOY I USED TO LOVE St. Skin Book 2 by Jaxson Kidman
I very much enjoyed this story of River and Lacey. It is filled with angst, devotion, and a powerful love.
River is a mechanic who does a little illegal fighting on the side for the extra cash. Lacey is a middle class girl who loves River although they are from different worlds. Her parents decide to move across the country and she is given no choice but to go with them. River is broken hearted, gets drunk to soften the blow and promises to meet her at their special place, on this date in ten years. There is no doubt the River and Lacey love each other and are meant to be together. However it seems that everything is against them, her parents, timing and the fear of disappointment. River has been going to their special place for ten years, he has never given up on Lacey. Every year he retreats as her rejection hurts him a little bit more. He promises himself this will be the last time waiting for her, although he knows he’ll return!
Wow, Jaxson Kidman and London Casey hit this one out of the park. The second book in the St. Skins series is so different than the first, but packs the same emotion that sucks you right into the story. The story flows so smoothly that you cannot tell where one author stops and the other starts. If I could this book would get more than 5 stars. Can’t wait for the next book in the series.
A Boy I Used to Love is such a beautiful, sexy second chance story! It’s the second St. Skin story and it’s just as excellent as In Her Words (A St. Skin Novel): a bad boy new adult romance novel.
River and Lacey were college sweethearts and so in love. He was the bad boy from the wrong side of the tracks and she was the good, upper middle class girl with demanding parents. It didn’t matter that they were opposites, and she defied her parents’ wishes by dating him. It didn’t matter, until it did. Until the day her parents threatened to disown her and cut her off if she didn’t move to New York with them. They said it wasn’t to get her away from River, but she knew it really was. They vowed to still see each other as often as they could, but you know things are never as easy as that.
Now, it’s 10 years later and Lacey FINALLY makes good on the promise to come home to River. Their reunion is bittersweet, and they’ve got lots of talking and lots of making up to do. And damn do they ever make up! River and Lacey were just floating through life until they reconnected and once they did, it was as if they had never been apart. Things happen, though, and the tragedy near the end almost rips them apart. Thank God that both are strong, because they needed that strength.
I absolutely love A Boy I Used to Love! It’s so beautiful, heartfelt and sexy. Jaxson Kidman and Karolyn James keep upping the ante on this series. Can’t wait for more!
Sweet wonderful second chance at love read with a great HEA!
What can I say about this book. Well let me start with Holy Sh*t…they way that it was put together had me crying g my eyes out from beginning to end. So many things were brought to life with this story and man I just can’t express how raw it was. Ever book that you write is a masterpiece. I loved this one because of how you bring two people back together after 10 years. This one a wonderful read and I give it 5+ stars
3.5 stars
Instead of a review here some quotes I really liked which – IMO – get the book pretty well:
“The place had been my home while I was lost. But holding Lacey – I was found.”
“It’s not a dream if it doesn’t include you, River”
“”We don’t need a spot, River. We don’t need an abandoned house. We don’t need a cabin. We don’t need the last ten years. We just need ….” “Forever,” he whispered.”
“River may have been a boy I used to love. But he was a man I would share forever with.”
