When a retired detective encounters a stranger standing outside a restaurant when both of them are on vacation and the stranger finds out what he did before he retired, the detective jokingly tells the stranger that he will come and solve a murder for him if he goes home and finds a body on his front porch.
A tremendous amount of name dropping of products, books, other authors, etc. my guess is the author is receiving some sort of compensation every time a name brand is mentioned. Couldn’t make it past the second chapter
I love this series!
The characters were too silly and unprofessional
I thought the book was very slow. It did have some funny parts, but hard to get through.
Normally I give a 5 star on all of his books but this one just started out describing too much food and took up several chapters with food descriptions. I love all of his books but this one was just frustrating getting too involved with food. Almost like it was a filler for the story. Sorry, just had a hard time with it, but it ended really good and had a surprise ending on who dunnit.
I love the two detectives and their down to earth descriptions. I enjoyed the mystery that kept me guessing. It is a very good read.
Just a fire as. Enjoy all of his books. Many are set in our own “back yard”. Tennessee
Great, great characters. Wonderful mystery. I love this series!
I enjoyed this book in the series. Easy to read, loveable characters. I liked that he brought in characters from his other series.
I’ve read several books in this series. It’s a nice easy read. The characters are funny and I enjoy the storylines.
A fun story of two retired policemen continually pulled put of retirement . They’d much rather be in retirement, but when a need comes calling, or a dead body…..Cy and Lou answer the call.
Christian mystery with lots of laughs. Love the author’s writing style.
I loved this story and hope to be reading more from this author.
First time to read a book by this author. Would like to read more.
Love all of Demaree’s books. His are the best of the cosy mysterybooks whose lead characters are male. Can’t wait for the next book
I did enjoy the banter between the characters it never seemed real and bit slow for my tastes though it did get me wanting to check out a cheesecake restaurant for a date night.
I started reading this and decided it was a waste of my time – so I did not finish it.
This book was a fun mystery to read, with a sense of humor and good characters.
Light reading – funny & entertaining. Keeps you engaged trying to figure out all the twists & turns.
I know what to expect when I read this Steve DeMaree series. His writing style is consistent and so are his characters. The two men are just likeable and single/homey. I could picture my brother set in his ways too. Their “detective styles” don’t change much either. It’s the crimes and the clues they uncover that have all the twists. Enjoyable. I’ve read four in the series now and would continue reading how the word from God fits their search for the killer.
