When a retired detective encounters a stranger standing outside a restaurant when both of them are on vacation and the stranger finds out what he did before he retired, the detective jokingly tells the stranger that he will come and solve a murder for him if he goes home and finds a body on his front porch.
I couldn’t get into it so probably not fair to rate it.
Some humor here. Easy to read. Good as a time killer.
Wasn’t as good as the other books.
I usually don’t read this genre, but I enjoyed this one. Good writing!
Steve Demeree delivers again with another Cy and Lou mystery that delivers their offbeat brand of humor, genuine faith, and determination to get the culprit. I really enjoyed the side trip to our friends on Aylesford Place (fans of Steve will know!) Although I was able to guess some of the plot points in advance, others completely took me by surprise.
The only real negative for me is the constant put downs between Cy and, well, everyone. I know this is part of the “humor “ of the characters, but sometimes it goes too far for my tastes. If you like a good, clean read, you will enjoy this book and series.
Loved to read about my Pink Flamingoed friends again. Love Steve Demaree’s style and Cy and Lou.
Cye and Lou did it again. If you have not read any of this series, you must get started. They are fast paced, have great characters, can be sarcastic….yet humorous and witty.
I tried to get past the first few chapters but they werre full of lists of books and other items. The chapters were very dry….couldn’t finish sorry to say! I rarely have this happen with a book since I usually go through to the end to see how the characters resolve events,. However, this was not possible since there was no action or story unfolding when I gave up. Sorry dear author.
Too much time was taken by witty quips. I had to skip pages to get to the meat of the story and the solved mystery.
I loved all the others in the series, but this one, oh goodness. I just became fed up with the “banter” between the two ex-cops. It didn’t advance the story line, fill out characters, or serve any point other than I believe, filling out pages. Will not be reading more. And that’s sad, I loved the others, especially Murder at the HIghschool. A good writer, but a thin plot wrapped up with too much word stuffing.
Love all of the books in this series.
