Ella is so completely lost, struggling each day, trying to keep her face in front of everyone, until all fall. And she wouldn’t be able to live without her “knight in shining armor” – Tristan. Tristan fall for her when he only seen her, felt protective, wanted to keep her safe to finally transform into only stability she had. They gone trough thought time together, nothing can be more sweetest love than one they share. It was truly beautiful story.
I questioned myself before reading this after reading the authors note to us readers and I am so glad I went ahead and read it.
Ella is the oldest of three. When her mother falls ill she is left to take care of her baby brother Thomas. As she tries her hardest to not be a failure to her mother and siblings she realizes that may not be possible. When she starts showing up to work late out of nowhere her boss, Tristan, is determined to find out why especially after hearing from the man in charge before him that she was never late.
Tristan is what most employees would call a jerk. He talks with authority to his team at the advertising firm he works at. From the moment he met Ella he was hooked but refused to do anything about it since it was frowned upon at work but when he calls Ella into his office one morning he knows immediately something is wrong. This time she doesn’t give him an excuse why she was late but tells him with tears in her eyes she can’t tell him why. This sets Tristan’s plans in motion to figure out what Ella is hiding.
Will Ella finally tell Tristan what’s going on or will she continue to take all her problems on herself?? Well I’m not going to tell you so go get your copy, grab a box of tissues and find out!!
As much as I loved, A Bleak December by Hanleigh Bradley, it hit home more then I was expecting. My stepmom had called our landline looking for my mother after telling her she was at work she asked me to call her and have her call her back immediately something was wrong with my father. By the time we arrived at the hospital we were escorted into a private family waiting room, my mom, stepmom, boyfriend and I were in that tiny room for what felt like forever. When the doctor came in to apologize and give us that one line you never want to hear in these situations I crumbled. I lost not only my dad but my best friend, my comedian and my protector. It’s been 21 years since that day and there isn’t a day that goes by that I don’t think about him.
A well written book with an interesting story line. The characters are strong and the story flows quickly and smoothly. I enjoyed reading this story.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
An emotional heartbreaking and heartwarming fast paced short love story that has a very sad element but as things are handled it would make me laugh. Tristan is Ella’s boss when he finds the real reason for her tardiness he started relieving some of her pressure and just became there for her to lean on. I loved how it flowed smoothly with so much support and love to get thru her mothers illness. Short but worth it for it is meaningful and enjoyable.

Well written short story with a nice storyline and plot. I like that the characters and how they develop. A passionate and emotional read with twists. Enjoyable and recommendable. It is fast paced but still captivating and enjoyable.
It is written in dual POV which gives the reader much more of the thoughts and feelings of the main characters. The epilogue is very welcomed and gives the story more to it and it finishes it better of than without it.
I like it has a mix of humour, seriousness and makes a very dark theme lighter with the writing style and use of words. It is heartwarming and you can feel that the author has put a lot of emotions in this story.
Recommendable and engaging.
A Bleak December is a short quick read but it’s packed with emotion. Ella has some serious stuff going on at home and she’s late for work a lot. She had me laughing with her funny excuses for being late. Tristan is her boss and he knows her reasons are fake and wants to find what the real reason she’s late is. Tristan is a tough boss but a nice guy. He likes Ella more than just as an employee. Ella has a lot on her plate with her mother and brother but Tristan finds a way into her life. If you’re looking for a good quick read to fill in some time then you should check this one out.
A Bleak December by Hanleigh Bradley, for me was a fantastic read.
Ella is always late for work and always lies her way to an excuse for it. She has some things going on that she doesn’t want anyone to know. She doesn’t need help – that’s what she thinks anyway.
Tristian, her boss, knows that her reasons for being late aren’t true, but he doesn’t reprimand her for it. He knows she has her reasons and he doesn’t want to push her – he just wants to be there for her, more than a boss should be.
All Ella wanted was a Christmas miracle and she got that, but not in the way she originally thought.
I loved the whole story, from start to finish. It was a short sweet build up to a romantic relationship, perfect for a novella. A great storyline to.
