Welcome to Sarah’s Eatery, where the food is to-die-for!Escaping a dreadful marriage and an angry ex-husband, Kylie Berry moves to the small town of Camden Falls, Kentucky, to run her cousin’s café, Sarah’s Eatery. Only one problem: Kylie can’t cook to save her life, and the longtime chef walks out on Kylie’s first day. “Winters will have you giggling into your book!”Answering the call for a new … giggling into your book!”
Answering the call for a new chef, in walks lovely Rachel Summers, a friendly local brownie-addict who immediately gets the job. But when Rachel is found dead a few hours later, all fingers point to Kylie and her killer brownies.
Could Kylie have made a major kitchen blunder and poisoned the woman? Did a bitter former employee tamper with her pantry? Or was there more to Rachel than the kind smile and eager-to-please attitude she sported at the interview?
With the help of the few remaining café regulars, Kylie sets out on a journey to uncover the truth behind who killed Rachel Summers!
This is a laugh-out-loud cozy mystery featuring a strong female protagonist, some unusual friends and family, and a mystery that needs solving! It has no graphic gore, bad language or sex.

Fun cozy murder mystery. Easy light read. Fun mix of characters with personalities all their own. Simple story line with light touch of potential romance.
This book drew me in from the first chapter. There was already humor, drama, and intrigue. I was ready to go on this ride and see where it took me.
Kylie, the main character who is pushing 30, recently divorced, and currently homeless, is likable from the beginning. She is a little ditzy and maybe slightly vain, but she’s hardworking, funny, and loyal. Although she moved to a different state to take over her cousin’s eatery (having no cooking experience whatsoever) after her cheating ex-husband left her with nothing, she’s resilient and quick to make friends. There are some roadblocks to the new town welcoming her (her ex-aunt-in-law trying to ruin her before she even gets started), but she seems to handle it very well. Even though she is the main character, for me, Zoey stole the show. Zoey is super-smart, sort of snarky, and incredibly interesting. I would definitely like to see more of her character in future books. She has her own side-plot going on, and I would love to see where it goes.
The overall murder/mystery storyline is engaging, but a little predictable. I did, however, enjoy Kylie’s attempts at cooking, her and Zoey trying to solve a murder, and the possible love triangle between her, Brad (the cop) and Joel (the reporter), which wasn’t fully explored, but I imagine will be in future books.
Overall, this book has a lot to offer the reader. It has some mystery, some definite humor, and possible romance. If these things are of interest to you, then A Berry Deadly Welcome will be a good choice.
I couldn’t lay it down. Very enjoyable read.
Light and enjoyable read. The main character is a great female character. I appreciate her determination.
Enjoyed the fun-loving plot.
A.R. Winters is among my favorite authors. This book did not disappoint.
I read this very quickly and really enjoyed the story.
Great simple read!
The main character can be a bit annoying and her progress at improving herself is a little too slow for comfort. But an enjoyable read anyway.
Kylie Berry signed a prenup at age eighteen, and at twenty-nine found herself penniless and homeless. Fortunately her cousin Sarah, who owns a restaurant in Camden Falls, Kentucky, has offered Kylie a job. So begins the book, but soon Kylie finds herself in a nightmare, thanks in part to Dorothy, her former aunt-in-law.
I have read several kylie berry stories and liked them all. will continue with this series
Good bedtime reading…no graphic violence.
Basic premise is a bit hard to believe. An unknown quantity being given an entire block on easy payment plans. Poor cooking skills are really too poor to be believable but maybe. Still, I read it to the end to see WHOSE brownies really did kill the vamp.
good reading
Story was funny ,romantic and very unpredictable. A real page turner. Didn’t know who committed the murder until the very end of the story.
I enjoyed reading this book very much. Good, clean murder mystery with a twist at the end.
I absolutely loved this book. Easy read and a good chuckle from time to time. I loved the characters they really came to life for me.
It was a cute read but unbelievable. The main character can’t cook, yet ends up “buying” a resturant and solving a murder that was based on her brownies, with hardly any effort. The characters were ok, just the premise was a bit off.
very light read moves along quickly
Easy to and fun to read.
