I had picked out the wrong killer till the very end. Very entertaining. Most enjoyed the character development, least liked that life kept me from reading in 1 sitting. A very enjoyable author.
Was easy to read. I enjoyed it from front to back.
Fun and light. A good book for relaxing.
Not intellectual but intelligent and well written. Characters are likable. Easy and fun to read. Needs better editing, lots of typos.
Enjoyed reading this cozy mystery. One of my favorites.
Silly story. Horrible grammar. I couldn’t continue reading.
It was easy to read. Became some what repetitive in spots.
Cozy mystery. Very enjoyable
A great read for a rainy afternoon.
This is the third book I have read in this series and from this author. I have enjoyed them all. They have all been fun, quick reads with an abundance of humor. They are full of twists and turns, and I have not once been able to figure out who the murderer was. Some editing would be helpful.
Kylie Berry is back and she’s got problems! Her boiler is shot and the problems just keep coming. Getting it repaired is going to cost an arm and a leg, and well…she just doesn’t have the money for it. She’s struggling to get Sarah’s Eatery on its feet, but that’s no easy task when she’s not exactly a world-class chef. But she does what she can, and it’s not all bad. When one of her friends, Susie, is seen and heard having an argument with her landlord, and then he ends up dead all things and quite a few fingers, points to Susie. Kylie and her friend Zoey embark on a mission to prove her innocence. At the same time, Kylie will work to keep her cafe in the black (or at least get it there), fend off her former in-laws and keep herself out of harm’s way when danger comes creeping. Should be pretty easy, right?
A Berry Clever Corpse: A Laugh-Out-Loud Kyle Berry Mystery by A.R. Winters is the first book that I have read by this author, but it is one I thoroughly enjoyed. The author promises me laugh-out-loud and I got laugh-out-loud. I am an avid fan of cozy mystery novels and this book absolutely hits the spot. Kylie is such a fun character. She has two men who are interested in her, her ex is looking to pop back up in town and it seems that she has lots on her plate. I like that she is working on bettering herself. She struggles with some of her cooking and baking, but she never lets it keep her down. She has such a soft heart and a generous spirit. I would absolutely LOVE to have her as a friend. Normally, I pride myself very much on figuring out who the killer is before the end of the book. The author keeps me guessing and wondering up until the big reveal. Okay, let’s be honest. I was too engaged in the story to really care who the real murderer was for a good while. When Kylie becomes obsessed with figuring out who baked those amazing cookies, that’s all I wanted to know too. LOL!
While I truly enjoyed this book there are some issues with it. There are some places of where words are misspelled and others where words are missing. While this does bother me a bit, it is nothing so egregious that it detracts from the story in any way. This is a fun story, with lots of great characters.
All in all, I am rating this book 5 out of 5 stars. Despite this being the first book that I have read by this author and this series, there was no need for me to have read any of the previous books to truly understand what was going on. The author makes this a fun story with several laugh-out-loud moments. I love the character development throughout the story and I look forward to reading more from this author in the future. I highly recommend this book.
This is the perfect cozy mystery to keep you occupied on a Sunday afternoon, with each book we get to know the characters better and fall in love with them even more. Kylies ex fiance finally makes an appearance however she is more concerned about finding the murder and it not being Susie but geeze I don’t know it doesn’t look so good for her. One of the few distractions in this book is how she has started to make things pretty well on her own and would have liked her 2 boyfriends to maybe help her a bit more but it doesn’t distract from the story its just me and I can not wait to read more in this series!
