He’s the most beautiful monster she’s ever seen
Emmy Atler is desperate for a job so she can help her grandfather with his increasing medical bills. She even applies to be a maid for Jason Belmont, recluse writer, who’s known more for the murder of his cheating wife and her lover than his popular thrillers. He may have gotten off on a technicality, but everyone knows he’s guilty. Just because … he’s guilty.
Just because he’s quiet and awkward doesn’t mean he’s actually innocent. Just because he treats Emmy with warmth and respect doesn’t mean he’s not capable of killing her with his bare hands – especially considering the fact that he lives in a secluded cabin in the woods of Lake Tahoe. Emmy can scream and no one would hear.
Now, with her grandfather’s health on the line and the risk of debt closing in, Emmy must do her job and ignore her growing attraction for her employer – especially if she wants to avoid risking her life for a man both brooding and fatal.

A Beauty Dark & Deadly by Heather C. Myers is Emmy and Jason’s story. Emmy needs money to help with her grandfather’s mounting medical bills. She applies as a maid at Jason’s house. Jason is an author, better known for the murder of his cheating wife and her lover. He is nice to her–but does that mean that he committed the murders or not?

Started off slow, almost deleted it. The end was good.
I had every expectation that the book would just end with Jason’s book release and a potential plot twist that had Emmy discovering Jason really did arrange for his wife’s murder. However, for Cody to come back around and decide he was now obsessed with having Emmy for himself was super confusing and unrealistic. This is a guy who she never even dated, let alone had any sort of communication with. For him to show up six months later with the delusion that Emmy would come be with him was just too difficult to accept. Then on top of that, he is attempting to rape her in broad daylight with Jason in the house? Crazy.
I believe the author was struggling for a plot twist to book number two, and became desperate. It just didn’t flow well at all. Felt completely rushed and not well thought out. I will not be reading the second book.
This story was great. The characters well defined. Plot was a bit sluggish that I found myself skimming chunks of text. At one point I asked myself do I really want to continue reading this because it was pretty slow. Too much description and inner dialogue. But I found that I did want to find out how it would end. I wasn’t disappointed in the ending, but I was disappointed that questions weren’t answered until the very end.
I don’t usually give an okay rating. But this book kind of missed the mark. I love dark romance books, and this book was far from dark. This book should have been just an adult romance at best. It wasn’t bad, just not what I thought it would be based on the description.
This could’ve been an amazing story. It was slow at first and then the characters were almost child like at times. It was disappointing how immature the female lead is…always in her head and changing her mind on whether he killed his wife and her lover to being just fine with it. And when they finally did come together it was a little boring. The finale of her beating her former crush to death and not batting eye that she killed a man. Ridiculous.
This story was so slow. It dealt too much with her trusting…not trusting…trusting…not trusting him. The only good part of the story – literally the last sentence!!
It was a great premise, but a poor execution. This would have benefited strongly from some editing.
Mmmmmm…. Okay, but felt it missed a lot of detail and left me feeling a little deflated and with too many questions.
Emmy Atler’s grandfather has increasing medical bills so in a desperate search for a job earning good money she applies to the advert for a maid for reclusive writer Jason Belmont – known for the murder of his wife and her lover more than his books (even though he was found not guilty on a technicality). When she is there she finds him quiet and awkward, treats her with respect, but that doesn’t mean he is innocent. Can she keep her head down and do her work while ignoring her growing attraction to him?
This was a lovely story told in a sensitive way. She really captured the dilemma and emotions involved in the decisions that had to be made. I really enjoyed the story and didn’t expect the ending.
Emmy needs a job that will help her pay her grandfather’s medical bills. When Jason posts a job that pays more then her two jobs together she decides to go for it. Even with his past she knows if she can make it a few months in his employment she can go back to her life.
What she doesn’t expect is how nice he is and how he seems quiet. She can’t help the rumors about him, but she wonders if the rumors are wrong?
Tensions rise and fall as Emmy and Jason get to know each other. Don’t miss their unforgettable experience.
I liked the book and what an unexpected ending

Nothing here to draw me in. If Emmy is so skeptical of her decision and afraid to work for Jason, she should not even be there. I understand the need to help take care of family; however, I’m sure there had to be other options for her. Jason is awkward, to say the least, and nothing about the author’s description makes me truly believe he’s attractive other than the fact Myers says so.
I very rarely leave a story unfinished because it tends to haunt me and I wonder if I missed out on it progressing… just can’t do it this time.
A play on Beauty and the Beast. Emmy is taking care of her grandfather and they can’t afford his medical bills. Emmy applies to be a maid for a writer named Jason. Although he is better known for having been accused of killing his wife and her lover. He got off on a technicality and everyone believes he did it. Can Emmy actually work for him and feel safe? Love the ending.
This is the first book in the series and it’s an interesting start. Emmy needs a job to help pay for her grandfather’s medical bills. She applies for the housekeeping job for Jason Belmont and gets the job. This should be great news however, Jason comes with a reputation. He is a reclusive writer that has been tried and beaten murder charges. He was accused of killing his cheating wife and her lover. This should not be too bad but Jason lives in a cabin which has no one around. This freaks Emmy out as no one would hear her scream for help but damn she needs the.money. Emmy puts her brave face on and goes to work. This story then unfolds as these two characters get.to know one another and their relationship changes for employer to employee to something else entirely.

This is a sweet and not so dark as I thought and wished it to be. It is a bit dramatic but not at all what the blurb and titel says. It has a hint of being a modern version of a fairytale. Characters well defined. Some steamy scenes.
The drama is build in a very slow way but the end is amazing.
